Chapter 30

Miguel was so shocked by Shiori Tadano's behavior that he was stunned for a moment. After a long while, he managed to utter: "...Are you his mother?"
Gojo Satoru was laughing so hard that he couldn't straighten his back. He reached out and ruffled Shiori's hair into a mess: "Don't get excited, Shiori's mother."
"Satoru!" Shiori turned around and tried to pat his hand, but he dodged it with a smile, "You messed up my hair!"
Yuta Otsutsuki was caught in the middle, with the two laughing and joking people on his left and Miguel, who looked speechless, on his right. He quickly smiled and tried to smooth things over: "Shiori-senpai has always taken good care of me."
Miguel raised an eyebrow and said nothing more. He just raised his chin in the direction of the parking lot and said, "The car is over there."
On the way to the parking lot, Shiori and Miguel walked side by side in front, and the topic kept revolving around Yuta Otsutsuki.
Shiori turned her head to look at Miguel. "There shouldn't be many cursed spirits overseas, right? But Yuta looks very tired."
Miguel sighed and said helplessly, "He's just anxious. He says he wants to get back soon, but he's been saddled with tasks one after another, trying to split a day into two. Even I have to keep him company."
…
Behind him, Yuta Otsutsukota asked softly, "Gojo-sensei suddenly came to see me, is there something wrong?"
Gojo Satoru put his hands in his pockets and replied slowly, "I have something I want to trouble Yuta."
Yuta Otsutsukota paused and asked tentatively, "...Is it because of women?"
"Huh?" Gojo Satoru paused, his lips twitching. "Yuta, you've also learned to make fun of the teacher? But if Shiori hears this, it will affect the teacher's family relationship."
Otsukotsu Yuta blinked and explained, "Because I really can't think of anything that Gojo-sensei needs to do that requires him to make a special trip, and... is it family related?"
He followed Gojo Satoru's gaze and saw Shiori, who was talking to Miguel with her head tilted to the side. The sunlight illuminated her profile, and the ends of her hair fluttered gently in the wind.
"Congratulations."
Gojo Satoru raised an eyebrow, then quickly changed the subject, patting his shoulder. "Well, the main reason we came this time was to get Yuta to go back with us. Yuta misses everyone too, right?"
Yuta hesitated for a moment: "But what's going on here..."
"Leave it to Miguel to clean up." Gojo Satoru waved his hand, his tone light, "He's very capable."
Shiori, who was walking in front, subconsciously looked back.
Seeing her turn around, Gojo Satoru pulled Otsutsuki Yuta's arm and quickened his pace, waving his hand at her: "Hurry up, Shiori's mother will be waiting anxiously——"
A black car was driving through the streets of Cape Town, and the street scenes outside the car window were rapidly receding.
Yuta Otsutsukota, sitting in the passenger seat, tilted his head and suggested, "After we check in at the hotel, how about we go sightseeing in Cape Town together?"
Shiori, who was in the back seat, sat up straight upon hearing this, leaned forward to the passenger seat, and hurriedly stopped him: "Yuta, you should have a good rest today. Wu and I can go for a walk on our own."
Miguel seemed to finally breathe a sigh of relief. "That's really helpful. I was just thinking of taking this opportunity to rest for a day."
Gojo Satoru swung his legs in the back seat: "Just rest assured, Yuta. This is a special vacation granted by the teacher."
Yuta Otsutsukota looked at the two people smiling at each other in the rearview mirror, and thought it would be better not to disturb the teacher's date: "Then I'll go back and rest."

August in Cape Town is winter. Shiori pulled the collar of her coat tighter and watched Gojo Satoru take two maps from the hotel front desk. The maps were densely packed with recommended attractions.
"Let's go to Table Mountain first," Gojo Satoru tapped his fingertips on the mark. "You can see the whole Cape Town from the top."
The cable car climbed slowly up the mountainside. The city skyline outside the glass window shrank into a delicate model, and the sea and sky in the distance merged into one. Shiori pressed her forehead against the cool glass and couldn't help but sigh softly, "How beautiful!"
The cable car swayed slightly, and Gojo Satoru pulled out his phone. In the camera, Shiori was gazing out the window, entranced. The sun shone on her, her eyes gleaming like a flood of light. He glanced at the screen and pressed the shutter.
"What is Wu taking pictures of?" Shiori asked, turning her head when she heard the shutter sound.
"I'm taking pictures of the scenery," Gojo Satoru put his phone back into his pocket. "It's beautiful. I want to keep it."
Shiori nodded and took out her cell phone to take pictures outside the window.
The wind on Table Mountain was so strong that Shiori's hair was blown all over her face as she stepped off the cable car. The cold wind still clung to the corners of their clothes as they hurried to the café on the top of the mountain.
Shiori sipped her hot cocoa and looked down at Cape Town. "It feels like coming home here. It's so quiet."
Gojo Satoru was digging into the chocolate cake on his plate with a small spoon. "There are very few cursed spirits and sorcerers overseas."
"Come to think of it," he put down his spoon, propped up his chin and looked at her, "Why did Shiori want to come to the technical high school in the first place? Actually, it's completely okay not to come, right?"
Shiori stirred the hot cocoa in her cup and said sheepishly, "I always thought I was the chosen one..."
To put it bluntly, it was a case of "Chuunibyou." There was another reason that was even more embarrassing to say, which was that she was really curious about what Gojo Satoru would look like without his bandages.
"Pfft..." Gojo Satoru couldn't help but laugh out loud, reaching out and rubbing her head twice. "If she hadn't come to the technical high school and become a sorcerer, what would Shiori be like now?"
"Hmm..." Shiori rested her chin on her hand and thought for a moment. "I'll probably continue my studies normally, find a regular nine-to-five job after graduation, and deal with any minor troubles along the way, becoming an unknown hero." She paused, tapping the rim of her glass with her fingertips. "Probably not going to Tokyo. Besides, we don't have any cursed spirits powerful enough to warrant a special trip from the strongest sorcerer."
If she hadn't opened the door to the world of magic, she would probably be in a cafe in Aomori, staring at her blurry reflection in the glass window.
Gojo Satoru leaned forward. "Eh—how can this be? Wouldn't that make us strangers for life? This won't do."
Shizhi reached out and poked the back of his hand on the table: "It's just a hypothesis. Look, am I not sitting in front of you now?"
There is no right or wrong at the crossroads of life, but some choices will lead her to unexpected scenery.
For example, the person sitting opposite me right now, this cup of perfectly warm cocoa, and this scenery that can only be seen after crossing mountains and seas.
She lowered her eyes and took a sip of hot cocoa, the sweetness slowly spreading on her tongue.
That’s great.
She sighed softly in her heart, it’s great that I chose this path.

The afternoon itinerary was scheduled for the Cape of Good Hope, and the sea breeze blew on people's faces like a knife.
Shiori tightened her scarf around her mouth and nose, looking at the white waves created by the confluence of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans in the distance. She couldn't help but shrink her neck: "The wind here is more exaggerated than Table Mountain."
Gojo Satoru reached out and tucked her hair, which was blown by the wind, behind her ears. He pointed to a place not far away and said, "Let's take a photo over there."
Shiori raised an eyebrow, "Really? I've been hyped up to be a Super Saiyan."
Gojo Satoru's sunglasses slid down to the tip of his nose, revealing his beautiful blue eyes. "Standing there is like standing at the end of the world with Shiori," he added with a smile. "Very romantic, isn't it?"
Shiori nodded, burying her burning ears deeper into her scarf. Gojo Satoru is such a sly wit...did he secretly max out his sweet talk skills? I can't help myself any longer. I'll put confessing on the agenda when I get home.
When Shiori saw the group photos taken by tourists, she stared at the screen and suddenly laughed out loud. It turns out that people can really laugh when they are speechless.
In the photo, Gojo Satoru has no shame, his hair is neatly combed, not even a strand of hair on his forehead is out of place, and she is standing next to him, looking like a big lion in the wind.
What's even more outrageous is that she saw with her own eyes that Gojo Satoru set this photo as his phone wallpaper.
Shiori’s eyes widened:???
Can I apply for a refund for the impulse I had just now?

In the evening, they returned to the city for dinner. While walking along the street to digest the food, Gojo Satoru suddenly pointed to the ice cream shop on the corner and said, "They sell ice cream there. I'll go buy two."
Shiori stood there waiting for him, watching his back as he quickly crossed the road.
At this moment, a blond man came towards her, chattering something in a rapid and urgent tone with an enthusiastic smile. Shiori did not understand a word and only maintained a polite smile.
Seeing her smile, the man reached out to put his arm around her shoulders. Shiori instinctively grabbed his wrist, her brows furrowed slightly, her eyes growing colder. Hello? If she couldn't talk properly, she knew a few tricks.
She applied a little force with her fingers, and the man hissed in pain. He tried to break free but was clamped so tightly that he couldn't move at all. He even staggered half a step towards her.
"Sorry, sorry!" The man finally apologized in English, his face showing a mixture of embarrassment and pain.
Shiori finally let go and breathed a sigh of relief. He finally said a few words that she could understand.
"A stealing cat!"
Gojo Satoru ran over holding two ice creams. He stuffed one into Shiori's hand and said, "That's too much! I just went to buy an ice cream. Why is Shiori so close to others?"
Shiori took the ice cream and explained helplessly: "I just don't understand what he said."
Gojo Satoru was still muttering, "Shiori's guard is too low. Is everything alright? This mission will be very dangerous."
Shiori took a bite of her ice cream and mumbled, "I only become less defensive when I'm with Satoru." She looked up at him and added seriously, "Because when I'm with Satoru, I feel safe."
Gojo Satoru immediately raised his chin, his tail almost raised in pride: "Hehe, of course, after all, I am the strongest!"
Shiori's heart melted at the sight of him. Cats are so easy to coax, cute, and kind. As for people... seeing a kitten like this, all they want is a kiss.
She licked the ice cream on her lips. This person must care about her a lot, right?
Since I can't wait to go back, I have to express my feelings to him now.
Shiori leaned closer and placed a chocolate-flavored kiss on Gojo Satoru's cheek, whispering, "I like it."
"I like Wu."
"The person I love most is you."
