Chapter 77 A clean break? Impossible! A clean break? That's impossible.

Chapter 77 A clean break? Impossible! A clean break? That's impossible.

In Jiang Xiliu's dictionary, the phrase "amicable parting" has never existed.

For Jin Zhao to completely leave her side, the only way is for it to be a matter of "him death and her life."

Jiang Xiliu quickly adjusted her state of mind.

Upon learning that Jin Zhao was sending out resumes everywhere, Jiang Xiliu did not hesitate to have someone spread the word that anyone who agreed to hire him was going against her.

People do business to make money, and they hire employees so that the employees can make money for them.

No one wants to create a powerful enemy for the sake of a newcomer with no experience.

However, there were also those who disliked Jiang Xiliu and wanted to deliberately recruit Jin Zhao, such as the Wen family who failed to win the bid for the Linjiang project.

It might be because the Wen family was too proactive.

Even though Jin Zhao hadn't applied to their company, they had HR call him and promised to hire him without an interview. However, Jin Zhao mistook it for a scam call and blocked them without hesitation.

Jiang Xiliu was watching a video of Jin Zhao growing vegetables when she heard about this.

She took back the house she had previously lent to Grandma Jin, and after staying at a hotel for a few nights, Jin Zhao moved into Yisile's house.

To be precise, it's renting.

Yi Sile had consulted Jiang Xiliu beforehand.

Jiang Xiliu naturally had no objections.

She has no possessiveness towards other people's things, and Yisile's house isn't hers anyway; Yisile can rent it to whomever she wants.

"Did he go to get his medicine?" Jiang Xiliu turned down the volume on her tablet and asked casually, seeing him working so enthusiastically in the video.

"I got it," A-Biao reported honestly. "The doctor said his condition is much better than before."

Medicine, several bottles of medicine with their labels torn off.

He could pour a handful of water into his hand and swallow it without any expression.

Standing by the window now, he no longer sees an empty road, but a vibrant green landscape.

Jin Zhao looked outside, a faint smile on his face.

Actually, he didn't really want to laugh.

My eyes were fixed on the greenery, but my mind was on the car that slowly drove into the residential area.

The phone on the table suddenly rang. Jin Zhao took a moment to react before walking over to answer it.

"Jin Zhao, is that right? Excuse me, could you tell me why you haven't looked for a job for three years since graduation? I noticed you did quite a few part-time jobs while in school, so why haven't you done any of that since graduation?"

This wasn't the first time Jin Zhao had heard this question. He didn't try to romanticize those three years: "I got married. I injured my eye before graduation, and I've been staying at home ever since."

That's a really bad answer.

So, as expected, I was rejected.

It's not just a matter of being single for three years; during the three years of marriage, Jin Zhao had long since become out of touch with society.

He lost the ability to communicate with people at work.

Jin Zhao wasn't in a hurry; he was learning slowly and gradually connecting with society.

During his adjustment period, he frequently encountered Jiang Xiliu.

Jiang Xiliu seemed very dissatisfied with his behavior, and would give him a cold shoulder every time they met: "Is this how you live without me?"

What kind of life have I become? Jin Zhao looked at himself and felt that he was already doing very well.

However, Jin Zhao could understand Jiang Xiliu's dissatisfaction with his current situation.

Jiang Xiliu's life has been so smooth sailing; she has never experienced the hardships of job hunting, nor has she ever been left behind by society.

She is fortunate to have loving parents, and she doesn't need to compete with anyone; all resources will automatically flow to her.

She, with her wonderful qualities, would naturally feel dissatisfied when she looked at Jin Zhao's impoverished life.

Jin Zhao didn't like answering her questions, and often asked rather tactlessly, "Why is Miss here?"

Jiang Xiliu turned her face away, her hands behind her back: "I'm here to look at my house, what's it to you?"

If Jiang Xiliu hadn't come up to him and made sarcastic remarks, Jin Zhao wouldn't have taken the initiative to walk up to her and ask that question.

In fact, Jin Zhao could sense that Jiang Xiliu had come to find him on purpose.

Every time we met, her undisguised gaze clearly conveyed—you are not allowed to live well without me.

Jiang Xiliu seems to really hate Jin Zhao, to the point that she can't accept that he has a better life that has nothing to do with her.

However, such encounters suddenly decreased after three months.

Jin Zhao tried to make things even harder, but it was no use.

Jiang Xiliu seemed to have suddenly seen through his trick and would no longer be attracted by his deliberate attempts to play the victim.

Jin Zhao walked through autumn alone, and in early winter, he finally met Jiang Xiliu downstairs.

When they found her, Jin Zhao was carrying a red and white plastic bag with a large, lonely cabbage inside, looking rather pitiful.

Jiang Xiliu was wearing a warm and thick long down jacket, a bright yellow woolen hat on her head, and a scarf of the same color around her neck.

Jin Zhao watched from afar and noticed that she seemed to have gained some weight. Her rounder face, even when she put on an arrogant expression, still had a gentle aura.

When Jin Zhao approached, Jiang Xiliu noticed him. Her round eyes blinked, and the next second, she waddled over to him like a little penguin.

She exhaled, and the white mist dissipated between them: "Jin Zhao! Did you miss me?"

For a moment, Jin Zhao felt that they weren't a divorced couple, but rather a couple deeply in love.

He steadied her swaying body and confirmed once again that she had gained some weight.

It seems she's doing quite well after leaving him.

Jin Zhao didn't linger in his daydream for long. After helping the person to their feet, he let go of their hand: "Looking to see a house?"

If he says he doesn't miss her, she'll be unhappy; if he says he does miss her, she'll probably just laugh at him.

He could only awkwardly dodge Jiang Xiliu's questions and change the subject.

Jiang Xiliu was naturally dissatisfied. Her temper was much worse than before. She stood on tiptoe and grabbed Jin Zhao's ears, saying, "Jin Zhao, you ingrate, heartless man, dog of a man, bastard, idiot... You really don't love me!"

Jin Zhao didn't know how Jiang Xiliu came to this conclusion from the four words he said, but for some reason he felt that the long string of words Jiang Xiliu had just used to scold him sounded very natural.

It was as if she had said it many times before.

This time I can finally say it in front of him.

"No." Jin Zhao paused for a moment, then lowered his head so she could tug at his ear. With his eyelashes drooping, he asked, "If you're not here to look at houses, then what are you here for?"

"Nothing?" Jiang Xiliu's feet landed firmly on the ground. She pulled hard on Jin Zhao's ears, which were already red, and asked relentlessly, "Is it that you didn't miss me, or that you still love me?"

Jin Zhao couldn't say anything. The forgotten cabbage rolled out of the plastic bag that had been used countless times and bumped into the young lady's shoe. Jiang Xiliu was startled and jumped to the other side without even looking.

Jin Zhao's eyelids twitched, and a sudden wave of panic surged through him. He grabbed Jiang Xiliu firmly before she slipped and fell.

In his peripheral vision, he seemed to see Ah Biao's shadow flash by.

After regaining her footing, Jiang Xiliu grabbed Jin Zhao's hand and kicked the innocent-looking cabbage again: "Stinky cabbage."

“It’s not safe here.” Jin Zhao only then noticed that the ground the young lady was standing on was uneven. He said seriously, “If there’s nothing else, go home. This place… is cold and dirty. It’s not a place for you.”

"Hmph, do you think I wanted to come here!" Jiang Xiliu's voice was loud. She slapped away Jin Zhao's hand, which was trying to grab her. "I came here to tell you that I'm thinking of finding a boyfriend."

Jin Zhao's hand fell limply to his side, and he said something in a very soft voice.

Jiang Xiliu didn't hear her. She kicked Jin Zhao's shin and said, "Speak louder."

"Don't look for her," Jin Zhao repeated, staring intently at her.

"Ha, that's funny." Jiang Xiliu put her hands on her hips and raised her chin arrogantly. "Who do you think you are to me? Even if we weren't divorced, you ingrate, heartless man, dog of a man, bastard, idiot... you can't control me."

Jin Zhao casually straightened her slightly crooked scarf: "If you don't want me to interfere, then don't tell me, and definitely don't let me see it."

"What if I tell you? What if you see me?" Jiang Xiliu leaned closer with a subtle expression. "What can someone like you do?"

Jin Zhao didn't know what kind of person he was, but he seriously considered the scenario, his brows furrowing slightly. He couldn't imagine it, nor did he want to: "I don't know, I don't know what would happen."

"It's boring." Jiang Xiliu shrank her neck; she seemed unusually sensitive to the cold this year.

Jiang Xiliu acted as if she had really come to inform him that she was about to start a new life.

As she turned to the side, the toes of her shoes scraping the ground, she announced, "This is the last time I'll be here."

Jin Zhao clenched the empty, torn plastic bag and said earnestly, "Okay."

Having finally made the trip, Jiang Xiliu didn't hear a single word she wanted to hear.

She put her hands in her down jacket pockets, glared at Jin Zhao, and emphasized, "This is the last time I'm coming here!"

"Yes, I know." Jin Zhao nodded in approval of her decision, thinking about how she had almost slipped and fallen earlier. "That's good."

Is it good that she's not coming? Then Jin Zhao must be overjoyed that she hasn't shown up these past few days.

Jiang Xiliu selectively forgot the videos she had watched, stubbornly believing that Jin Zhao was an ingrate... living a carefree life before she arrived.

She kicked Jin Zhao hard: "This is the last time! You rude person!"

Jiang Xiliu paused, not uttering that long string of curses, but instead offered her unique reasoning: "A friend has come from afar, and it's the last time he'll come. If you're not happy, then don't you invite him to dinner?"

"How rude!" Jiang Xiliu wasn't satisfied with kicking people; she also stomped on the vegetables.

I don't have friends like that, nor do I have a way of having someone feed me like that.

The dish Jin Zhao was supposed to cook was actually the cabbage that Jiang Xiliu had trampled under his feet.

In winter, the cheapest thing in the market is Chinese cabbage. One head of Chinese cabbage, cut in half, can last for at least two meals.

If Jiang Xiliu is staying for dinner, then it's impossible to just cook one vegetarian dish.

Jin Zhao picked up the large cabbage, glanced at Jiang Xiliu who was wearing a sour face, and asked her, "What do you want to eat?"

"Whatever." Jiang Xiliu's eyes sparkled, she snorted twice, swayed her body, and said somewhat unhappily, "I want to eat everything now, am I getting fat?"

Jin Zhao, worried that she might fall, lightly placed his hand, which wasn't holding the cabbage, on her back: "Not fat, just right."

They need to go back to the market to buy groceries.

"Not only are they impolite, they've also learned to lie." Jiang Xiliu walked slowly. "I've gained a lot of weight."

Jin Zhao's voice was a little tense: "How much is 'a lot'?"

Unsurprisingly, he received a glare from Jiang Xiliu: "A lot is a lot. Guess for yourself. If you can't guess, you're an idiot."
