Chapter 127 Boss

Chapter 127 Boss

After a lot of hard work (mainly hard work), my tedious little essay finally saw the light of approval. Although the process was as difficult as 81 difficulties, the moment I handed in the final draft, I felt my soul lighter.

I can finally put my main energy back into the development of the NPC AI plug-in that I have been thinking about!

This plug-in is like my "child". From the initial vague idea to gradually exploring the code and debugging the logic, although the progress is slow and I often encounter annoying bugs, every time I see the pixelated character in the game react more intelligently and more in line with his "character" because of my code, the sense of accomplishment is simply unparalleled.

In order to raise this "child" better, I have been lurking in various forums and technical communities, and have also shamelessly consulted many seniors in the circle.

The one I admire most is a big guy with the ID "Lingxiao".

He is not only a top expert in this field, and I have almost read through several of his published papers. More importantly, the company he works for is the studio that developed my favorite stand-alone game!

That was one of my enlightenment games, carrying countless of my youth and passion!

My admiration for the boss "Lingxiao" is simply through the filter of a fan.

That night, I was racking my brains over a piece of decision tree code that was never optimized, when Lin Yan's video request popped up.

I answered the call dejectedly and said "Hello" weakly.

Lin Yan on the other side of the screen seemed to have just finished work. His suit jacket was draped over the back of the chair, his tie was loose, and his face was a little tired, but his eyes were bright and contained a mysterious smile.

"Baby, what's wrong? Are you stuck on your paper again?" He guessed about 70% of what I was doing just by looking at my behavior.

"Oh, don't mention it," I said with a sad face, "I feel like the codes in my head have turned into a mess... It's so difficult... If only I could have a chance to ask 'Lingxiao' master for some guidance. I've read an article of his on a similar algorithm, it's really well written..." I began my daily worship as usual.

Lin Yan listened to me quietly, and the mysterious smile on his lips deepened.

He took a sip of water slowly, and then, as if suddenly remembering something, he spoke in a very casual tone, as if to say, "It's a nice day today":

"Oh, by the way, speaking of this 'Ling Xiao'..."

He paused, successfully capturing my full attention.

"I've been looking for investments and partnerships lately, and by chance, I came into contact with a senior executive of their company... and then, by the way... I got the contact information of your boss, 'Ling Xiao'."

I:"???"

My eyes widened instantly, as if the pause button had been pressed, and I even forgot to breathe: "You...what did you say?! Whose contact information?!"

"Ling Xiao," Lin Yan looked at my stunned expression, clearly pleased with the result. His tone remained calm and composed. "He's the amazing gaming AI expert you were talking about. I see how much you admire him, so I thought... maybe you could ask him out for dinner? Asking him for advice in person would be better than trying to figure it out on your own."

I:"!!!"

A huge surprise exploded in my mind like fireworks!

I suddenly jumped up from my chair, almost losing my grip on the phone, and my voice instantly rose an octave: "Really?! Lin Yan! You're not lying to me, are you?! You really have Boss Ling Xiao's contact information?! And you want to invite him to dinner?! Oh my God! Am I dreaming?!"

I was so excited that I was incoherent and spinning around in circles in the room, my face flushed with excitement: "Boss Ling Xiao! That's Ling Xiao! I've played so many games from his company! I've seen all his public sharing! He's simply my idol! Lin Yan! You're amazing! How do you know everyone? I love you to death!!"

Lin Yan was on the other side of the screen, watching me jumping up and down excitedly and flattering me like crazy. The smile on his face seemed to... subtly stiffen for a moment?

Especially when he heard that the words "I love you to death" were said by someone else, the pride in his eyes quickly faded, and was replaced by an extremely subtle, almost imperceptible...sourness?

But he quickly adjusted himself, coughed lightly, and tried to bring me back to reality: "Hey, honey, calm down. I just got their contact information first, we haven't made an appointment yet. He's a big shot, very busy, and may not have time to deal with small characters like us."

"Ahhh! I know, I know!"

I was still in a state of extreme excitement, clasping my hands together, my eyes brightening with astonishment. "But there is a chance! Having a chance is already great news! Lin Yan, you are really my lucky star! How did you do it? It's amazing!"

I kissed the screen "mua" without noticing that Lin Yan's expression had become more complicated.

"Then...how should we arrange it? Should we just email? Would that be too abrupt? What should I say? Should I first organize the problems I'm currently facing and the code and send it over? Will the boss think I'm too inexperienced and not bother with me at all? Oh my god, I'm so nervous!"

I began to fall into another state of anxious excitement.

Lin Yan looked at me like this and sighed helplessly, with a hint of pampering and...unpleasantness in his tone that he himself didn't even realize?

"Don't worry. I'll make an appointment for you. It's... um... in the name of our company's technical exchange, and I'll bring you along. This way it'll seem more formal and not too presumptuous."

"Okay, okay! I'll do as you say!"

I nodded my head in agreement, completely satisfied with Lin Yan's arrangement. "Boss Lin, one man is worth two! It'll definitely work!"

"Hmm," Lin Yan replied, then remained silent for a few seconds before suddenly asking casually, "That 'Ling Xiao'...how old is he? Is he married?"

I was so caught up in the ecstasy of meeting my idol that I completely ignored the sour taste in his words and casually replied, "Huh? I don't know his exact age. He looks young in the photo, probably in his thirties. I don't think he's publicly announced whether he's married or not... Hey, why are you asking?"

I reacted belatedly.

"Nothing," Lin Yan immediately regained his serious expression and acted like a boss. "It's normal to get to know the basic situation of a potential partner. Okay, leave it to me. You should sort out your things first, so that when we meet, you won't be clueless."

"As you wish! Boss Lin! I'll sort it out right away!"

I felt like I was injected with chicken blood, and I was instantly full of energy. I couldn't wait to rush to the computer and write code.

After hanging up the video, I rolled around on the bed several times with the phone in my arms, my mouth grinning from ear to ear, feeling like my life had reached its peak!

Boss Ling Xiao! I actually had the chance to see Boss Ling Xiao alive! Lin Yan is truly incredibly powerful!

On the other side of the screen, a certain "powerful" Mr. Lin stared at the darkened screen of his phone, his fingers tapping unconsciously on the tabletop, his brows furrowed, and he muttered to himself:

"Ling Xiao... in his thirties... hasn't disclosed his marital status... humph."

He picked up his phone and flipped to the contact number he had just obtained. His eyes turned a little dangerous. "Technical exchange... well, we need to have a good 'exchange'."
