Chapter 148: Expelling Guests
In the next few days, I felt a little uneasy at the thought of having to meet Xu Sheng again.
Fortunately, there is no need to directly contact their company in the upcoming meeting arrangements, which makes me feel relieved.
I told this to Lin Yan. After listening to me, he just said "hmm" lightly and didn't say much, but there was a barely perceptible sharpness flashing in his eyes.
I know he must have kept it in mind.
Sure enough, within two days, I received a notice for the next round of cooperation negotiations, and Xu Sheng's name was on the list of participants.
On the day of the meeting, I arrived at the meeting room early to prepare.
Lin Yan said he had an urgent meeting and might be late, so he asked me to start first.
Xu Sheng arrived not long after the meeting started.
He was dressed more respectably today, with his hair combed meticulously. As soon as he entered the room, his eyes fell precisely on me. He smiled and nodded at me. The inquiry and scrutiny in his eyes made me feel uncomfortable.
Throughout the meeting, I could clearly feel his gaze drifting towards me from time to time. Even when I was speaking, he would have a half-smile on his face, as if he was very interested. I tried to ignore him and focus on the meeting content, but the feeling of being constantly watched was like an ant crawling on my body, which was really uncomfortable.
During the break, I was about to slip out to get some fresh air, but Xu Sheng came over again.
"Mr. Chen, you spoke well." He handed me a cup of coffee, and his tone was so familiar that it seemed as if we were old friends.
"Thank you, but no, I have my own." I declined politely but distantly.
He wasn't embarrassed at all. He took a sip and leaned on the table, looking at me. "Are you free tonight? It's rare for old classmates to meet up. How about having dinner together? I know a new Japanese restaurant that's pretty good."
"Sorry, I have an appointment tonight." I immediately refused, trying to keep my tone calm.
"Oh? With...your partner again?" He raised an eyebrow, his tone tentative and ambiguous. "A man or a woman? So mysterious?"
I frowned and was about to tell him to stop when the door to the conference room was pushed open.
Lin Yan walked in with long legs, wearing a well-tailored dark suit.
He had obviously just come from another meeting and still had the cold aura of a decision maker.
His eyes swept across the conference room and finally landed precisely on Xu Sheng and me.
Xu Sheng followed my gaze and turned back, and was obviously stunned when he saw Lin Yan.
His eyes quickly swept back and forth between Lin Yan and me. Besides being surprised, there seemed to be a flash of calculation and amusement in his eyes - he probably didn't expect that my "object" would be a man, and it looked like... he was definitely not an ordinary person.
"It seems that I came at the wrong time?" Lin Yan spoke. His voice was not loud, but it carried a sense of oppression, instantly attracting everyone's attention.
Xu Sheng quickly adjusted his expression, putting on a businesslike smile, but the inquiry in his eyes remained undiminished: "Who is this?"
Lin Yan ignored his question and walked straight to my side. He naturally put his arm around my waist, looked down at me, and his tone instantly became gentle: "How was the meeting? Did you encounter any difficulties?"
His intimate gesture made the smile on Xu Sheng's face completely freeze, and the amusement with a hint of contempt that had just emerged was instantly replaced by surprise and doubt.
He obviously didn't know Lin Yan, and had no idea about his background.
My face felt a little hot, but I still shook my head cooperatively: "It went pretty smoothly."
Lin Yan looked up at Xu Sheng as if he had just seen him. His eyes were indifferent and condescending: "Who is this?"
Xu Sheng quickly introduced himself: "Hello, I'm Xu Sheng, the project director of XX Company. I'm also Chen Rui's high school classmate."
This time he didn't dare to emphasize "high school classmates" in that familiar tone.
"High school classmate?" Lin Yan's tone was calm and indifferent. "I haven't heard Ruirui mention it."
His grip on my waist tightened slightly, his gesture full of possessiveness. "Director Xu, is there anything else?"
Xu Sheng felt a little embarrassed by this rude order to leave, and his face turned red and white.
He probably quickly weighed Lin Yan's identity in his mind, and calculation appeared in his eyes again, but in the end he did not dare to act again under Lin Yan's obviously unhappy aura.

He chuckled twice and walked away awkwardly, but before he left, he looked at me and Lin Yan in a complicated manner, and it was obvious that he had no good intentions.

Lin Yan sat next to me for the rest of the meeting. Although he didn't talk much, his presence was very strong.
Xu Sheng had indeed become much more well-behaved. He no longer dared to keep his eyes on me, and his speech became much more polite. However, when he occasionally glanced at me, his eyes carried a sense of re-evaluation and secret contemplation.
After the meeting, Lin Yan put his arm around my shoulders, nodded to the senior executives of the other company, and took me away, without giving Xu Sheng a chance to come over and talk.
As soon as I entered the elevator, I couldn't help laughing and poked Lin Yan's arm: "Boss Lin, you are quite jealous, aren't you? Your acting skills are pretty good!"
Lin Yan snorted and hugged me tighter: "Who made him stare at my wife? And she's my high school classmate? I can tell from the look in his eyes that he has bad intentions. He's probably trying to figure out who I am."
"How do you know he has bad intentions?" I teased him on purpose.
"It's a man's intuition." Lin Yan glanced down at me, "Especially the kind of man who thinks he's a playboy and suddenly discovers that there's an unknown variable around his target. From now on, let the project manager handle all the docking. You're not allowed to meet him alone again."
"I know, I know!" I felt sweet inside. It felt so good to have someone protecting me. "But you looked quite handsome when you came in just now, like a domineering CEO."
"It's enough to be gentle to you alone."
He lowered his head and quickly kissed me on the lips, "Let's go, let's eat, I'll calm you down."
The elevator door opened and we walked out together.
When the employees outside saw us, they greeted us with a smile as usual.
I looked back at the direction of the elevator. The irritation in my heart caused by Xu Sheng's appearance had long been dispelled by Lin Yan's appearance.
As for Xu Sheng's surprise and possible subsequent plans, they seemed to be nothing to worry about in front of Lin Yan.
With him around, it seems like there's really no need to worry about any trouble.
