Chapter 153 is on the shelf

Chapter 153 is on the shelf

The night before it went on sale, I was so excited that I couldn't sleep.

I paced back and forth in the living room, checking the promotional page for a while, and then couldn't help but go to the forum to read the players' expectant comments.

Lin Yan looked at me like an ant on the hot pan, and tried to help me relax in an "adult" way, but I refused him sternly - I was afraid that the tension would disappear after a while, or worse, I would suddenly remember a game bug and burst out laughing halfway through, which would really ruin the atmosphere!

He couldn't do anything to me, so he came over with a glass of red wine, hugged me from behind as I was grinning at the computer screen, rested his chin on my shoulder, and said with a helpless smile: "Wife, look at the time, it's two o'clock in the morning."

"Yes!" I stared at the countdown with sparkling eyes. "Six whole hours left! Six hours!"

"Tsk," Lin Yan gently bit my earlobe, "Why do I feel like you're even more excited than those starving players out there?"

"Of course!" I turned around and put my arms around his neck. "Whenever I think about the fact that there might be players out there like I used to, unable to sleep, anxiously waiting for the game to be unlocked, I feel... so happy and so motivated!"

Lin Yan chuckled softly, the vibration of his chest transmitting through the thin pajamas: "So, I seem to be a little luckier? Thanks to someone, I played the full version a long time ago."

I raised my chin proudly: "Then I can tell you with certainty that at that moment, you were definitely among the happiest 0.1% in the world!"

"No," he shook his head, his eyes as gentle as if they were drowning, "I think it's not just that moment. Since I've been with you, every moment of my life has been the happiest."

My face flushed red, and I punched him. "You do it again! That doesn't count! No one else has ever verified my claims except you."

He smiled and grabbed my hand, his eyes blazing: "There is another person who can verify it."

"You." He said confidently, "Do you dare not admit that it is you who made me so happy?"

I was defeated by his logic, feeling both angry and amused. "Okay, okay, I can't argue with you, so I admit defeat, okay?"

After holding on for a while, I began to yawn uncontrollably and my eyelids felt heavy as if they were filled with lead.

"Baby, go to sleep. Look how sleepy you are." Lin Yan advised me with concern.

"No!" I forced myself to shake my head. "It's just that my body is sleepy, but my mind is still excited!"

Lin Yan: “…”

He had no way to deal with me and could only sit with me on the sofa.

"It will be dawn soon." He looked at the dawn outside the window.

"It's getting light early now," I pointed at the skyline. "When the sun reaches the top of that building, it will be almost time."

Lin Yan hugged me in surprise and asked, "When did you become so knowledgeable about sunrise time?"

"There's a little Easter egg in the game," I explained proudly. "The protagonist can judge the approximate time by observing the sun's altitude and the shadows cast by buildings. We've made some very detailed designs."

"Okay, okay," Lin Yan interrupted me with a smile, "You're starting to immerse yourself in your game world again."

"Hey, come to think of it," I leaned against him, finding a comfortable position, "have you ever had this experience? That time when you're so excited waiting for a certain moment that you can't sleep?"

"Yes," he answered quickly. "For example, when I knew I could have an 'in-depth conversation' with you tonight, I started looking forward to it since this morning."

"Hey!" My face flushed. "Seriously! Waiting for something to be released! Or to receive a prize! To buy a limited edition or something!"

"Well..." Lin Yan thought about it seriously and shook his head, "Really not. I always seem to be more...um...calm? I think that what is meant to come will come. Good things are worth waiting for, but you don't have to rush to experience them first."

"Wow, you're really capable of staying focused," I sighed. "I'm different. I've had so many experiences like this. When I was a kid, I had to wait for cartoons to be updated. When I was in college, I had to wait for game maintenance to be over. Even when daily quests refreshed in the game, I had to rush in and complete them as soon as possible."

Lin Yan seemed to recall something and chuckled, "No wonder. When I was a freshman, I noticed that a guy who always stayed in bed actually got up at 7 a.m. one day, which was unprecedented. I was shocked and thought there was a thief in the dormitory. But when I looked over, I saw that guy sitting in front of the computer, waiting for the game to open."

"That was the first time I realized that," I retorted. "It turns out that Lin Daxue not only wakes up early, but also goes for a morning run and eats a healthy breakfast! This is simply not the routine of an Earthling!"

"It's just a life habit." He smiled and ruffled my hair. "It sounds like your expectant waiting is quite interesting."

"Yes!" My eyes lit up again. "That kind of pure impatience born out of passion, I miss it now. I feel like I'm always passionate and curious about unknown experiences."

"Maybe I was young at that time." Lin Yan concluded.

We both fell silent and looked out the window together.

The sky was getting brighter and brighter, and the morning light cast a golden edge on the city's tall buildings.

"It's half past five." Lin Yan looked at his watch.

"Well, there are still two and a half hours." I took a deep breath and felt my heart start beating again.

"I'm so excited," I whispered, my voice trembling a little.

"Me too." He squeezed my hand.

"What are you excited about?" I turned to look at him curiously.

"Seeing that you seem to have regained the simplest happiness and expectations of the past, I got excited too." He answered very seriously.

"...You." My heart warmed and my nose felt a little sour.

But the warm embrace and the gradually brightening sky became the best lullaby.

My consciousness began to blur, my head swayed little by little, and finally fell completely on Lin Yan's strong shoulders and fell asleep.

I don't know how long it was before I suddenly woke up and found that I had actually fallen asleep. I jumped up and said, "Oh no! Why did I fall asleep?! What time is it now?!"

Lin Yan looked at me like this, not knowing whether to laugh or cry: "Rui Rui, what do you think?"

"No, no!" I quickly grabbed my phone and started refreshing the page again, watching the promotional videos and player reviews that I had watched countless times, trying to cheer myself up.

"Stop looking, you've already seen it eight hundred times." Lin Yan tried to confiscate my phone.

"I need to find something to excite myself!" I dodged his hand.

"Oh?" He raised his eyebrows and gave a dangerous smile, "Then I have an idea..."

“Stop, stop, stop!” I blushed instantly and pushed him away. “After that, I probably passed out from exhaustion and slept until noon!”

"Alas," he sighed with feigned regret, "This is the first time I've stayed up late with my wife, and I can only watch and not eat."

"Lin Yan!" I glared at him in embarrassment.

We laughed and joked for a while, but sleepiness set in again. I leaned back on the sofa, my eyelids drooping again.

"Hmm...what time is it?" I asked drowsily.

"It's almost seven o'clock."

"There's still more than an hour left..." I forced myself to sit up straight, "I'm so nervous..."

"If it really doesn't work, why don't we go have breakfast first? To divert our attention?" Lin Yan suggested.

"No appetite..." I shook my head, my whole mind focused on the countdown.

"You." He had no way to deal with me.

In the last half hour, I simply sat in front of the computer, ready for action.

"Are you going to do it yourself?" Lin Yan asked with a smile.

"I want to click that button myself and download it as soon as possible!" I said solemnly.

"I made a game myself, and I've played the internal version of it until it's worn out. What's missing from this one?" He thought it was funny.

"That's different!" I retorted. "It's a completely different thing! This is the first one for everyone!"

"Okay, okay, Mr. Chen, you have the final say." He surrendered with a smile and stood behind me to accompany me.

But the waiting was too exhausting, and the warm morning light too soporific. As I waited, my consciousness began to blur again, and I couldn't help but lie down on the table, pillowing my arms and falling asleep again.

Lin Yan looked at me helplessly and shook his head. He was about to wake me up when the time came, but he heard me mumbling in my sleep:

"Download...quickly..."

He looked at the time, 7:50, only ten minutes left.

He thought to himself: I'll let you sleep for another nine minutes.

As a result, at 7:58, with only two minutes left before the scheduled time, I suddenly woke up and raised my head. Before my eyes were fully open, I complained sleepily: "Why didn't you call me?!" (I had completely forgotten that I had fallen asleep.)

Lin Yan suppressed his laughter and said, "I was planning to call you at the last minute."

"Oh damn! It's almost there!" I woke up instantly and threw myself in front of the computer, staring at the countdown on the screen.

When the number finally returned to zero and the gray button instantly became bright and clickable, my fingers almost trembled as I pressed it hard!

The page refreshed, and the icon representing "The Dead Bell Scorch Moment" officially appeared in the platform list, with "Downloading" appearing below.

"Success!!! Lin Yan! I succeeded!!!" The huge joy and sense of accomplishment instantly overwhelmed all the fatigue. I jumped up, turned around and hugged Lin Yan fiercely, shouting excitedly, wanting to tell the whole world.

Lin Yan hugged me back tightly, his voice filled with pride for me: "Great! Ruirui! You did it! You are amazing!"

We hugged each other, sharing the ecstasy of this dream coming true. However, after the extreme excitement, there was an even more overwhelming fatigue.

The ecstasy didn't last for more than a few minutes before I felt as if all the strength in my body had been drained and my head was dizzy.

"Ruirui?" Lin Yan noticed my silence and looked down to find that I was actually lying in his arms, asleep again...

He felt both distressed and amused. He carefully picked me up and carried me sideways, walked to the bedroom, gently put me on the bed, and covered me with a blanket.

He leaned over and placed a very gentle kiss on my forehead.

Then he lay down too, looking sideways at my sleeping face with a hint of satisfaction in it.

In one of the most important dream moments in my life, he chose to stay quietly by my side and take a nap together.

Outside the window, the sun has risen completely, filling the room with sunlight. And in this small world, my dream has just begun, and his protection remains the same as always.

The best moments, though.
