Chapter 69 Give it to you and give it to me

Chapter 69 Give it to you and give it to me

In the evening, I had a dinner with the group of "geniuses" in Helin Yan's laboratory and my mentor.

When I walked into the box and saw my instructor chatting and laughing with several students, I instantly became nervous again and my palms started sweating.

My supervisor is a cheerful and outgoing person. When he saw Lin Yan bringing me in, his eyes lit up and he said half-jokingly, "Hey? Xiao Lin! Why are you bringing your family with you? This is a farewell dinner for the lab, not a family meeting!"

Although I knew my instructor was joking, the words "bringing the family along" still made me feel embarrassed.

Other students who knew the inside story, like Li Wei and others, all laughed in a good-natured manner.

My face turned red and I wanted to crawl under the table.

Lin Yan, however, smiled happily, naturally put his arm around my shoulders, and said to the instructor, "Teacher, this isn't 'bringing the family along,' this is 'people with whom I have a good relationship.' I won't feel at ease without them."

The instructor laughed heartily, apparently not giving it much thought, thinking Lin Yan was just joking with him: "Okay, okay, okay! Good relationship! Good relationship! Now that everyone is here, waiter! Serve the food!"

The atmosphere at the dinner table was very lively. Everyone chatted, recalled interesting things in the laboratory, and discussed future plans.

Most of the topics revolve around projects, papers, further studies, and work, and are full of academic and elitist atmosphere.

I sat next to Lin Yan and felt like a newbie who had strayed into a high-end forum. I could only bury my head in my work and try to reduce my presence.

"Hey, Xiaolin, which school did your friend...get into?" The tutor had drunk some wine and was in high spirits. He pointed at me and asked Lin Yan.

Before Lin Yan could answer, Li Wei rushed in and said, "Teacher! I'm amazing! I got into the same top school as Lin Yan!"

"Oh? Not bad!" The instructor nodded appreciatively. "Students are motivating each other and making progress together! Excellent!"

Lin Yan immediately responded with undisguised pride, "Yes, teacher. Moreover, he worked so hard to get into this school just for me."

As soon as these words were spoken, there was silence at the table for a moment.

The instructor was stunned for a moment, then revealed an expression of greater relief and understanding, and patted Lin Yan on the shoulder: "Is that so! That's not easy! Xiaolin, then you have to treat her well! This must have been a lot of hardship, right?"

Lin Yan's expression instantly became extremely serious, and there was even a hint of heartache in his eyes. He tilted his head to look at me deeply, and then under the table, he covered the back of my hand with his warm palm and gently held it: "I will, teacher."

My heart warmed, and I quietly held his hand tightly and shook it gently.

The dinner ended in a lively atmosphere.

After bidding farewell to their mentor, this group of energetic young people went to KTV to continue their party.

I feel like my social energy tank has completely run out, and I just want to go home and collapse.

"Baby, are you tired? If you don't want to go, let's go home." Lin Yan hugged me and asked in a low voice, his tone full of heartache.

I shook my head and leaned against him. "It's okay, go ahead. I'm not singing anyway, so I'll just sit here and listen to you guys sing. Just take a break."

When I arrived at the KTV box full of lights and wine, I was instantly surrounded by deafening music.

Lin Yan and I found a sofa in the corner and sat down, watching the group of "roll kings" in the laboratory instantly turn into microphone masters, singing and dancing, and the atmosphere was extremely lively.

After a while of commotion, someone started to make a noise: "Lin Yan! Come on, sing a song! Boss Lin must come on, sing a song!"

"Yes, yes, yes! Lin Yan sings!"

"Come one! Come one!"

The booing grew louder.

Lin Yan smiled and didn't refuse. He stood up and walked to the song request desk, operated it a few times, and then picked up the microphone.

The lights in the box dimmed and a spotlight shone on him.

He cleared his throat, his gaze fixed precisely on me through the noisy crowd. His voice, clearly transmitted through the microphone throughout the box, carried an unprecedented gentleness and solemnity:

"The following song is dedicated to my dearest love."

"Oh~~~~~!" Cheers and whistles exploded instantly, everyone became excited, and their eyes glanced back and forth between me and Lin Yan.

I was completely stunned and stared at him in amazement, my heart starting to beat uncontrollably.

What is he going to do?

"This song is 'Give You and Give Me', a song I have always liked." Lin Yan's voice was as gentle as the flowing moonlight, and the background music slowly sounded, it was Mao Buyi's warm and affectionate melody.

His voice is not particularly amazing, but it is clean and sincere, and with his unique gentleness, he interprets this song particularly movingly.

There are no showy high notes, no intense rhythms, only deep affection that is told in a leisurely manner, like a long stream of water, soaking into the heart.

"Give me your smiling mouth and eyes

Give you my passionate desire and tenderness,

Give me your uncut innocence and freedom,

I'll give you all that I have..."

The lyrics are like a gentle key that accurately opens the floodgates of my memory.

Every little bit of the past, the way he looked at me with a smile, the unreserved tenderness and tolerance he gave me, the way he protected my clumsiness and innocence, everything he gave for me...all came flooding in with the song.

My eyes instantly became wet and my vision became blurred.

I watched him standing in the light, singing for me. His deep affection and cherishment were clearly conveyed to my heart through every note.

When the song ended, the box erupted in applause and screams. Lin Yan put down the microphone, ignoring the clamor around him, and walked straight through the crowd to me.

He squatted slightly on one knee (because the sofa was low), looked up at me, his deep eyes filled with stars and my reflection, and his voice was clear and firm:

"Chen Rui, I love you. Can you... stay with me forever?"

There were no fancy words, only the simplest and most serious inquiries.

I was overwhelmed by the immense happiness and emotion. I couldn't hold it in any longer and threw myself into his arms, hugging him tightly. My voice was choked with sobs, but it was incredibly clear and loud:

"I promise you! I love you too! Lin Yan! For the rest of my life!"

The surroundings immediately rang out with even more enthusiastic cheers, screams and good-natured teasing.

Li Wei clapped and laughed as she shouted, "Hey, hey, hey! Lin Yan! Are you going to turn our lab's farewell party into your wedding? That's too much! If you do that, I won't admit defeat!"

She turned to look at Su Qing beside her, her eyes equally fiery.

"I want to sing a song for my baby too!" Li Wei grabbed the microphone and requested G.E.M.'s "No Matter How Far We Are, We'll Be Together."

Her style is completely different from Lin Yan's. Her voice is high-pitched, clear, and full of explosive power. She sang with great vigor and also received a standing ovation.

"Alright, alright! You two couples! Are you going to let us singles live?"

"That's right! What's going on in our lab? Every couple is so good at showing off their affection! And they do it in such a unique way!"

The box was filled with joyful complaints and laughter.

Everyone sang until late at night.

When I walked out of the KTV and the cool midnight breeze blew, I felt an overwhelming sense of fatigue.

The energy I had forced myself to maintain throughout the night was completely gone. I sat in the passenger seat, and before I even fastened my seat belt, my eyelids felt so heavy that I couldn't lift them up.

"Baby, are you so sleepy?" Lin Yan leaned over, kissed me on the forehead, and then carefully helped me fasten my seat belt.

"Well...it's all your fault..." I closed my eyes, my voice unclear, as if I was talking in my sleep, "...you insisted on singing some love song...made me cry...and made me even more tired..."

Lin Yan laughed softly, and started the car with a look of doting and satisfaction: "It's my husband's fault. Go to sleep, wife, let's go home."

The car drove smoothly on the quiet midnight street.

The neon lights outside the window streamed in, flickering across my eyelids.

Before my consciousness sank into darkness, I seemed to hear Lin Yan's gentle whisper, or perhaps it was just the deepest hope in my heart echoing in my dream:

"From now on... I will always be with you..."
