Chapter 71 Graduation Ceremony
Early the next morning, the alarm clock rang like a death warrant.
I sank into the bed, feeling like my soul was being sucked out of the mattress.
Graduation ceremony? Whoever wants to go can go!
Lin Yan was full of energy, like a chicken with blood injected. He dug me out of the bed and kept muttering: "Ancestor, wake up! This is the only time in your life, don't oversleep!"
It was drizzling outside, and the sky was as gloomy as the bottom of a pot. The college was thoughtful enough to give out raincoats.
Haha, this raincoat is like a plastic sheet. Once you put it on, you will immediately turn into a human steamer!
It was hot and stuffy, and I could feel beads of sweat running down my spine.
I was like a salted fish wrapped in plastic wrap, and was dragged to the playground by Lin Yan like a dead dog, feeling hopeless.
The playground was packed with people wearing the same "steamer" clothes, and the scene was quite spectacular.
I finally found a plastic chair in our yard and sat down. As soon as my butt touched it, the hard touch made me shudder and I barely woke up a little.
The graduation ceremony began, and the process was so old-fashioned that I could recite it by heart.
Singing, singing again!
The elite students from the music academy wore specially made (but not particularly fancy) bachelor's gowns and sang "The Crossroads Where Phoenix Flowers Bloom" and "Bon Voyage" with deep emotion...
When the familiar melody sounded, I didn't know if it was because of the hot raincoat or because the lyrics were too harsh, but my nose suddenly felt a little sore.
MD, that’s not possible!
I nudged Lin Yan, who was sitting upright next to me, and said in a muffled voice, "Hey, after today, we're really not members of this school anymore."
Lin Yan tilted his head, the rain dripping down his forehead, but with a smile on his face, he leaned close to my ear and whispered, "Honey, you can come back anytime you want. Just scan your face and enter! This is the sacred place where we pledged our love. I'll never forget it."
Most of the students on the playground were quite calm, busy taking pictures, chatting, and browsing their phones. Few were as pretentious as me.
The ceremony ended faster than expected, the crowd dispersed like the tide, and the school gate was crowded with parents who came to pick up their children, making a lot of noise.
As I walked out, I looked at the wet campus and suddenly sighed: "Shit, remembering the first time I came here, I was so stupid that I entered through that tiny, remote door, dragging a suitcase bigger than me, like I was fleeing famine. I walked a fucking two miles before I even got to the dormitory building!"
Lin Yan raised an eyebrow: "No senior students are here to pick you up? Show some courtesy or something?"
I rolled my eyes. "Bullshit! There was a senior student there, but when he saw I was a guy and not a pretty junior, he just pointed in a direction and said, 'Here, over there, go by yourself,' and then he just vanished, leaving me disheveled in the wind."
I scratched my head, remembering how embarrassing that day was.
"Hey!" I suddenly had an idea and bumped into Lin Yan's arm. "Speaking of the dormitory! This is the first time we met! Remember? In the freshman group, you asked, 'Has everyone arrived yet?', and I stupidly replied, 'On the way,' and you immediately replied, 'What a coincidence, I'm on the way too!'"
Lin Yan chuckled, raindrops dripping down his chin onto my shoulder. "How could I not remember? I waited for you at the foot of the dormitory building for ages, my eyes almost tired. Then there was a commotion in the crowd ahead, someone saying something like 'this side of the School of Automation', and I spotted your conspicuous school uniform in its bright colors. You stood out from the crowd!"
I was a little embarrassed: "Well, I never thought that such a big and handsome guy would be my roommate! My first reaction was: Oh shit! Will I be able to take advantage of my handsome roommate and drink milk tea given by girls in the future?!" I was so innocent (and greedy) at that time.
Lin Yan reached out and pinched my cheek with considerable force: "Drinking milk tea? What a waste! Why don't you just think about it and conquer your roommate? Wouldn't that mean you can have endless milk tea? The kind with free refills for life!"
"Fuck!" I slapped his claws away. "I was a straight man back then! Although... well, you're indeed incredibly handsome, but I definitely didn't have any bad intentions! But you!"
I narrowed my eyes suspiciously. "Why did she suddenly start acting like a housekeeper, meddling in everything? Now that I think about it, was this all along the way? Hmm?"
"Little fool," Lin Yan chuckled, his hot breath tickling my ears. "At first I just couldn't stand it. Your mess...tsk tsk, it's like you're exploring the lower limits of human habitation. Helping you clean up is purely a humanitarian rescue. But as I was cleaning up..."
He paused, his voice tinged with laughter, "I've discovered that you, though sloppy, are kind of silly and cute."
I looked disgusted: "Cute what the hell! Now I think about how I behaved back then, I dig my toes into the ground. Greasy hair and dirty face, takeout boxes piled up like a mountain..."
"Baby," Lin Yan interrupted me, his tone smug, "Then why don't you praise your man for his discerning eye? He can even find treasures in a garbage dump."
I was amused by him and climbed up the pole: "That's right! It must be that Boss Lin has a sharp eye! Otherwise, where else would I have found such a handsome guy? It's a huge profit!"
Lin Yan's mouth curled up wildly after I praised him, and he obviously enjoyed it very much.
He put his arm around my shoulders and walked out, raindrops falling under the umbrella we shared.
As we walked, he suddenly lowered his voice and approached with a malicious smile: "Let's go home. I didn't have much fun last night because I was thinking about the important things to do this morning."
I immediately exploded: "Lin Yan, you are born in the Year of the Dog, right?! How can you still be so petty about this?! You've completely ruined the sad atmosphere of the graduation ceremony!"
"Are you sad? Go home and do something happy to dilute your mood." He said confidently.
...The result was of course what he wanted.
This bastard was incredibly energetic and kept going until five in the afternoon.
I collapsed on the bed, feeling hollow inside, my stomach making a deafening "gurgling" sound.
"Pfft...Hahaha!" Lin Yan laughed muffledly behind me, and his chest shook so hard that my back was numb.
"What are you laughing at!" I was embarrassed and annoyed, and I grabbed the pillow and threw it back at him. "It's all your fault! I wasn't even allowed to eat lunch! The production team's donkeys also need to be fed with hay!"
"Okay, okay, it's my fault, my fault," Lin Yan held back his laughter and reached for his phone. "I'll order takeout now. What do you want to eat? I'll order a full banquet for you!"
"Then you... come out first!" I was pressed down by him, unable to move, and I felt my stomach growling even louder. This posture was so damn embarrassing!
"What's the rush?" Lin Yan swiped the screen of his phone slowly, his voice lazily and with a hint of malice. "It'll take the delivery guy 20 minutes to fly over. There's still enough time."
"...Lin Yan! You dog!!" My angry roar echoed throughout the room. This life is really unbearable!
After finally getting his diploma and degree certificate, Lin Yan casually threw them on the bookshelf to collect dust.
In the following days, he completely entered the lazy fish mode: he slept until noon, was dragged up by Lin Yan to do some "beneficial to the body and mind" exercise (usually he was more beneficial), and then played games, petted cats, watched anime, ordered takeout... on repeat.
It felt great at first, as if I had made up for all the sleep I missed during my four years of college.
But after a few days, life started to feel a bit… boring. The weather outside the window was also playing tricks on me. I wanted to go out and relax, but everywhere I looked, it was either raining or scorching hot, enough to burn you off.
Just when I was slumped on the sofa for the Nth time, boredly scrolling through my phone and thinking about the meaning of life (salted fish), Lin Yan next to me suddenly threw a "bomb" at me.
"Ruirui, come back to my house in a couple of days."
"Pfft!" I nearly choked to death on my own saliva. I almost fell off the sofa with a somersault. "What the hell?! Didn't you say you'd wait until your job was stable before going?! I just graduated and I'm still full of energy!"
Lin Yan put down the book in his hand (pretending to be a book), and said calmly, "I'll let you know," "My dad heard that I graduated and wants to meet you."
