Chapter 88: Frustrated

Chapter 88: Frustrated

Fang Qing's situation has completely calmed down.

Although we see each other every day in the same group, and occasionally I have to see her acting in front of others with the mask of "sunny, motivated and good classmate", I don't feel any pressure about it.

The skill of "mind your own business" that I have learned since childhood is more than enough to deal with this kind of situation.

Watching a show is quite interesting as long as the fire doesn't burn you.

What is really giving me a headache right now is the increasingly heavy workload.

The novelty at the beginning of the school year has worn off, and the class schedule is like a sponge soaked with water. It is normal to cram in four hard-core professional courses in a day.

When I got home from class, my head was filled with all kinds of formulas, algorithms, and concepts, buzzing with activity. I felt like all my strength had been drained away, and I just wanted to collapse on the sofa like a mindless slime.

What literature? What preview and review? To hell with all that!

Lin Yan adapted well and even found time to handle some of the preliminary work for his entrepreneurial project.

His only complaint was, "Wife... our time for 'deep communication' has been severely compressed! This has seriously impacted my physical and mental health and family harmony!"

In response to this, I can only roll my eyes, saying that I have the will but not the ability.

I finally had no classes that afternoon, and I was happily thinking about whether to fight in the canyon or catch up on some sleep, when my instructor sent me a cold and ruthless message: Gather in the laboratory at 3 pm for a small meeting to meet the seniors who will be leading you.

I stared at the phone screen and felt a black screen in front of my eyes.

A beautiful afternoon! Free air! All ruined!

My heart was roaring like crazy, but my body still got up honestly and rushed to school resignedly.

In the laboratory, several people were waiting bored.

Fang Qing was obviously looking forward to this kind of social occasion. She adjusted her hair from time to time, with a perfect smile of anticipation on her face.

I huddled in the corner, my fingers rapidly tapping on the phone screen, and complaining meaninglessly to Lin Yan:

Me (lying flat): [cracked.jpg] Group meeting! Kill me! My afternoon! My game!

Boss Lin (unsatisfied version): [pats head.jpg] Be patient, come back early after work. I'll make it up to you tonight.

Me (lying down version): Compensation is bullshit! I just want to sleep!

Just as I was complaining, the instructor came in with a few people.

The so-called seniors were all males, and the little flames that had just ignited in the eyes of the few single male compatriots in the laboratory were instantly extinguished.

Fang Qing's eyes suddenly lit up - the senior brother in the lead was tall and long-legged, with a stern face and wearing a pair of frameless glasses. He had a bit of the elite temperament of a "gentlemanly villain".

Fang Qing's consummate social skills immediately came into play.

She came forward with a sweet smile and a clear voice: "Wow! Hello, senior! From now on, I will rely on you for guidance and flattery!"

The cold-faced senior brother didn't even raise his eyelids. His tone was as flat as if he was reading a lab report: "I don't deserve your advice. I hope everyone can be serious and rigorous in their approach to the project. Forget about the talk of flattery."

Poured a basin of cold water on me mercilessly.

Fang Qing's smile froze for a moment, but she quickly adjusted herself and took out her phone: "Senior, could you add me on WeChat? It would be convenient for me to ask you questions later."

The senior brother still had no expression on his face, and even frowned slightly: "I will create a work group later. If you have any questions, you can communicate in the group, or send an email." He directly blocked the path to private chat.

Fang Qing: “…”

I was watching from the side and could hardly hold back my laughter.

This senior brother... is a ruthless person! He is incorrigible and specializes in dealing with all kinds of fancy tricks!

Fang Qing's ever-changing facial expressions were even more fascinating than the oscilloscope in the laboratory.

Just as I was trying hard to control my expression, Fang Qing gave me a glare. The gaze of that cold-faced senior brother seemed to sweep over me inadvertently, lingering for just a few tenths of a second.

I immediately straightened my back reflexively, put away my expression of watching a show, and tried hard to make myself look like a serious academic.

The group meeting process went smoothly.

After the tutor’s introduction, fellow students also introduced their research directions.

When it came to the communication session, I unexpectedly discovered that a senior who wore black-framed glasses and looked a bit of a homebody had a research direction that was highly consistent with the game AI that I was interested in!

The more we talked about the topic of "Application of Reinforcement Learning in NPC Behavior Tree Optimization", the more we got along. From algorithms to specific game cases, it felt like we hit it off and regretted not meeting each other earlier.

The reason was simple: we were both huge gamers! The academic topic instantly turned into a discussion about major game titles and a chance to chat.

On Fang Qing's side, she tried several times to steer the conversation towards the cold-faced senior brother, but was repeatedly rebuffed by the other party using technical terms, leaving her with no choice but to face challenges.

The smile on her face became more and more forced, and in the end it was almost just a stylized upward curve of the corners of her mouth.

What could have been a boring group meeting ended with a lot of excitement, thanks to my unexpected gains and Fang Qing's continued frustration. The seniors said goodbye and left.

The person had just walked out of the door and not far away, and there was still a hint of polite warmth lingering in the laboratory.

"Damn it! You're such a pretentious guy! Why are you pretending to be so noble!" Fang Qing slammed the table, her voice sharp and shrill, filled with undisguised anger and contempt.

The entire lab instantly fell silent! You could hear a pin drop!

Everyone seemed to be paused, staring at Fang Qing in amazement.

That ever-smiling Fang Qing with a high emotional intelligence? The "little sun" of the group?

Did you just... curse? And was it so harsh?

Fang Qing seemed to realize she had lost her composure. The fierceness on her face instantly faded, replaced by an expression of annoyance and innocence. She picked up her phone and shook it, "Oops! I'm so sorry! I just saw some weird news and it really pissed me off! I couldn't control my emotions! Sorry, sorry!"

She stuck out her tongue, trying to cover it up with a playful smile.

The others looked at each other, their eyes filled with complex emotions of "I believed your lies", but they didn't know what to say, so they could only smile awkwardly and disperse with a laugh.

I was the only one who wasn't surprised.

He quietly packed up his things and prepared to leave.

I've seen enough of this show, it's time to go home and lie down.

As I reached the door, someone grabbed my sleeve from behind.

"Hey!" Fang Qing lowered her voice, her face still showing some lingering anger. "Did that guy named Gu add you on WeChat?"

I took out my phone and took a look: "Yes, it was added. It was approved in seconds."

"Fuck!" Fang Qing immediately exploded. She opened her WeChat account and gritted her teeth. "Why haven't I been approved yet?! It's been almost ten fucking minutes!"

She put her phone screen in front of me, and the friend request status clearly showed "waiting for verification".

"Huh?" I was also stunned for a moment, "I just added him, and he accepted immediately."

"No! What the hell does this guy want to do?!" Fang Qing stomped her feet in anger, lowering her voice, but her anger soared. "Why are you acting so high and mighty?! Are you targeting me?!"

I held my forehead inwardly.

Ever since the last showdown, Fang Qing has completely stopped pretending in front of me. She uses foul language and acts irritably, treating me like an emotional trash can.

"Uh... maybe... he really didn't see it?" I tried to give him a way out. "How about you try adding it again?"

"Fuck! I tried!" Fang Qing grabbed a handful of her hair in frustration. "Still no response! Damn it! Are you leaving me alone?!"

She cursed under her breath again, and her vocabulary was so rich that even I, a self-proclaimed game hater, felt ashamed.

I was just thinking about how to get out of this situation when Fang Qing's phone suddenly rang.

Fang Qing's eyes lit up, thinking that her friend had passed, and she immediately looked down excitedly.

As a result... the screen lit up, and it was a push notification of discount coupons from a takeaway group.

Fang Qing: “…”

I clearly saw the expectation on her face collapse in an instant, turning into deeper resentment and frustration.

I couldn't help it, the corner of my mouth twitched, and I quickly turned my face away.

As for whether Fang Qing added Senior Brother Gu later and when she added him, I have no time to care.

I quickly fled the scene, went home and plunged into the game, venting all my afternoon frustrations on the virtual battlefield.

This resulted in Lin Yan seeing the screen of my phone, which I had thrown on the sofa, flashing and the indicator light jumping wildly when he returned home at night.

He walked over and picked it up. Fang Qing's name was clearly displayed on the lock screen, along with several unread messages.

Lin Yan frowned, and the little radar of vigilance in his heart was instantly activated.

Is this woman not done yet?

He unlocked his phone (of course he knew my password) and opened WeChat directly.

Next to Fang Qing’s avatar, small red dots indicated more than a dozen unread messages.

Lin Yan clicked on it with a serious face, and most of the messages were voice messages.

He clicked on the first one directly.

Fang Qing's deliberately subdued but still furious voice burst out immediately, carrying with it the crackling atmosphere of Zaun:

"I'm so impressed! Damn! This guy just took me a while to get through to my friend! It's too late!"

"Hmph! Hmph! Come! Admire my incredibly beautiful circle of friends!"

"Damn it! He actually blocked me from my Moments?! He only left me a horizontal line?! Damn! What are you pretending for! He doesn't allow me to call him 'senior', but 'brother'? Is 'brother' that great?!"

The voice chat was still automatically playing the next, more explosive complaint. I just came out of the bathroom and heard Fang Qing's familiar, "fragrant" voice coming from my phone. I sighed helplessly:

"Before, I only knew that I was a low-browed person in the game and loved to use foul language. I didn't expect this sister... to be even better at cursing than me, and her vocabulary is even richer."

Lin Yan hung up the voice message speechlessly and threw the phone back on the sofa: "Why did she have to send these to you?" His tone was sour.

I walked over and slumped onto the sofa. "Think about it, how does she appear to the other people in the lab? 'The sunny and cheerful junior sister'! If you were to send someone else this kind of rant, wouldn't her image be completely shattered? Only I know her true colors. To her, I'm a 'broken jar,' a broken tree."

I spread my hands to show that I was helpless too.

Lin Yan came over, squeezed into the sofa, and pulled me into his arms. He rested his chin on the top of my head and said sullenly, "This kind of 'sharing desire'... shouldn't be used to find someone else's wife."

"Well," I found a comfortable position in his arms, thinking of the scene in the afternoon, I couldn't help laughing again, "but you didn't see how Fang Qing was so embarrassed this afternoon, she almost made me die of laughter. That Senior Brother Gu is simply her nemesis! He is the master of all kinds of disobedience!"

After listening to my delighted description of how Fang Qing was "punished" in all aspects by the cold-faced senior brother, Lin Yan couldn't help but chuckle and concluded:

"It takes evil to deal with evil."

"Brilliant!" I gave a thumbs-up and smiled slyly, "Boss Lin really summed it up perfectly!"

The two of them huddled on the sofa, thinking about Fang Qing's frustrated and helpless look, and laughed together tacitly like two spectators who had secretly witnessed a good show.
