Chapter 109 Time and Space
I almost ran all the way back to the hotel.
As soon as I entered the door, I couldn't wait to open the suitcase and carefully took out a... USB flash drive from the innermost compartment.
Lin Yan looked at the small piece of metal in my hand, was stunned for a moment, then laughed, hugged me from behind, and rested his chin on my shoulder: "Baby, such a high-tech gift? What confidential documents are stored in the USB flash drive? Or... your study materials?" He was teasing me on purpose.
"Oh, what are you thinking!" I nudged him lightly with my elbow, my face burning. "Actually... it's just a little game. I made it myself."
I pulled him to sit in front of the computer, plugged in the USB drive, found the only installation file, and double-clicked to run it.
The progress bar ran out quickly, and a pixel-style icon appeared on the desktop.
The text on the icon reads: "Goblin Meets Jade Bodhisattva."
When Lin Yan saw the name, he couldn't help but raise his eyebrows, his eyes full of curiosity and amusement.
I felt a little embarrassed and pushed him into the computer chair: "You do the operation."
He pulled me to sit on his lap and held me in his arms.
Lin Yan put one arm around my waist and held the mouse with the other hand and clicked the icon.
The game started up, the screen went black, and then a few lines of white pixelated text slowly appeared:
"This game is for the person I love most."
"——Lin Yan"
Seeing this line of words, Lin Yan's arms tightened noticeably.
He tilted his head and kissed me on the cheek, his voice low and hoarse: "I love you the most, too, my wife."
My heart skipped a beat, and I nudged him: "Alright, alright, that's too corny...just keep watching!"
Lin Yan chuckled, turned back and clicked the mouse.
The screen lit up, and what came into view was a pixel-style...home?
The layout, the furniture, even the paintings on the walls, are all incredibly familiar! It's a replica of our own home!
And on the screen, a pixelated man was standing in the middle of the room.
The hairstyle and clothes of that little man... are clearly a Q version of Lin Yan!
When Lin Yan saw this scene, the hand holding the mouse paused, and a hint of surprise and... some kind of indescribable touch flashed in his eyes.
He almost instinctively controlled the pixelated figure and moved it around the room.
When the little man walked to the desk, another pixel man appeared!
He was sitting in front of the computer, and the game screen was flashing on the screen - it was a Q version of me!
The Q version of "I" noticed the arrival of "Lin Yan", a big exclamation mark appeared above his head, then he jumped off the chair and ran to "Lin Yan" with a clatter.
The pixel dialog box pops up:
"Lin Yan, you're here!"
"I, the 2D version of myself, have been waiting for you, the 2D version of myself, for a long time :)"
"How's it going? This game is pretty good, right?"
"To be honest, I've thought about it for a long time, but I still don't know what gift to give you."
“I just happened to be researching games recently, so I made this little game using RPG Maker.”
"But don't underestimate it! The characters inside are connected to the NPC intelligent dialogue plug-in I wrote! (Although it's not very mature yet...)"
"Right now, it can probably simulate my personality and way of speaking~"
"Next, try typing what you want to say to me in the dialog box!"
Lin Yan silently looked at the words that popped up on the screen line by line, with a distinct "Chen Rui" style, then turned his head and looked at me deeply.
His eyes were extremely complicated, showing surprise, emotion, and deep love.
"Why are you looking at me...type quickly."
My cheeks flushed at his gaze, and I felt both excited and nervous, and a little shy about showing off the fruits of my hard work.
Lin Yan turned back, placed his slender fingers on the keyboard, hesitated for a few seconds, and then typed seriously: "Wife, I love you."
I:"……"
Sure enough! I knew it!
The pixel "I" on the screen immediately reacted. The little man blushed (the pixels turned pink) and stamped his feet angrily (pixel special effects). A dialog box popped up: "Can you be a little more creative? I knew you were going to say this! (〃>目<)"
Lin Yan laughed softly, his shoulders shaking.
He thought about it again and typed, "How are you doing in the second dimension?"
The pixel "I" spun around a few times, looking very happy:
"Of course I'm having a good time! In the 2D world, I don't have to worry about papers or going bald, I can play games all the time! And most importantly... I have my loved ones by my side! (* ̄︶ ̄)"
Lin Yan looked at the words with a smile on his face, and typed again: "Isn't this almost like the three-dimensional world?"
The pixel "me" paused, and a dialog box slowly popped up: "No. We in the second dimension... don't age."
The moment this sentence popped up, the smile on Lin Yan's face froze slightly.
He stared at the line of pixelated words for a long, long time.
The arms holding me tightened unconsciously.
My heart felt like it was gently stabbed by something, feeling a little sour and uncomfortable, and I lowered my head unconsciously.
This little detail...was indeed noticed by him.
"Ruirui..." Lin Yan's voice was a little hoarse. He gently held my face and forced me to look at him.
His eyes were filled with heartache and inquiry, "Is Ruirui from the three-dimensional world also worried about this?"
Under his gaze, my hidden thoughts were exposed. I bit my lower lip, feeling a little embarrassed. A bitter taste welled up in my mouth, and I nodded gently. "Probably."
The sound was as small as a mosquito's hum.
"Baby, why do you think about this?" His thumb gently stroked my cheek, his tone full of tenderness.
I lowered my eyelashes, not daring to look at him. My voice became even quieter, with a barely perceptible tremor: "Because I'm afraid... when I'm old, my hair is white, my face is covered with wrinkles, and I'm not good-looking anymore... or even... when I die... in my next life... I won't be able to meet you again..."
It takes a lot of courage to say these words, and every word is weighed with a heavy sense of fear.
Lin Yan was completely stunned.
He looked at me, his eyes fluctuating violently, as if thousands of emotions were surging in them.
The next second, he suddenly hugged me tightly in his arms, with such strength that it seemed as if he wanted to rub me into his bones and blood, never to be separated.
"Silly..." His voice rang in my ears, with a barely perceptible sob, but with unwavering determination, "No matter if it's this life, the next, or the next! No matter what time and space, what world! We will find each other and be together! I promise!"
"Really?" I looked into his eyes.
"Aren't we already together in the second dimension thanks to your efforts?"
Lin Yan pointed at the computer screen and said.
His promise was like the warmest armor, instantly defeating all the anxiety and fear in my heart.
My tears suddenly welled up in my eyes. I hugged him tightly and nodded vigorously in his arms, my voice filled with tears: "Yes! Yes! We will be together! We definitely will!"
On the computer screen, the pixelated Q-version of "me" was still standing there quietly, and the dialog box displayed the words "Waiting for input..."
Outside the screen, we in the three-dimensional world hug each other tightly, as if to imprint each other into the deepest part of our souls, transcending all boundaries of time and space.
