Chapter 121 Strange Attitude
Maori Kogoro opened the door of the sushi restaurant with his daughter and said loudly: "Boss, I'm here!"
As usual, the store manager would come over to greet him with a smile, and the new disciple Wakita Kensuke would also come over to flatter him, but today the store was unusually quiet.
Kogoro Mouri looked around and found that there was only one table of customers in the restaurant.
It was clearly dinner time, so even if the sushi restaurant wasn't full, there shouldn't have been only two customers. Could business have really gotten this bad?
He muttered to himself and focused his attention on the only two guests. They were dressed in black suits and black hats, and just sitting there made people afraid to approach.
Maori Kogoro suddenly realized that the guests must have been scared away by them.
At this time, the store manager popped his head out from the kitchen door and whispered, "Mr. Maori, are you sure you want to eat in the store?"
After he said this, Maori Kogoro had a hard time leaving because the man with long silver hair was already looking towards them.
Maori Kogoro thought to himself: This guy does look tough. But we live in a society ruled by law, so he shouldn't attack anyone, right? And since he didn't book the entire restaurant, why couldn't they eat inside?
So, Kogoro Mouri took his daughter to the store and sat down, saying, "Give us some special sushi." He was not stupid, and chose the seat closest to the store door.
The manager retracted his head, and then the sound of chopping vegetables came from the kitchen.
Mao Lilan sat across from her father, right in front of Gin's table. She leaned in front of her father and whispered, "Are those two the owners of the luxury cars?"
"I think so." Kogoro Mouri also replied in a low voice.
"That silver-haired gentleman is obviously not an ordinary person!" Mao Lilan exclaimed, "He looks like a foreign model."
Kogoro Mouri's expression froze, and he said with difficulty: "...I don't think his profession is a model." He seems to be a gangster.
Over there, Gin glanced at them vaguely.
He knew about Kogoro Mori. He had suspected Kogoro of having planted the bug on Keel and of having rescued Shiho Miyano. The organization had then arranged for Bourbon to infiltrate Kogoro Mori and investigate him. However, based on the information Bourbon had relayed, Kogoro Mori seemed clear of suspicion.
But many coincidences happened afterwards, which still did not dispel his doubts.
Also, Rum came here in person to lurk, and his target was not only Kogoro Mori, but also Bourbon.
Rum didn't trust Bourbon. Or rather, he never fully trusted any of his subordinates. Even after going through so many trials, Bourbon never met Rum in person, which shows how cautious Rum was.
Gin scoffed at his behavior. He was like a mouse in the dark.
Indeed, Gin was the opposite of Rum. He was known throughout the organization, especially with his long silver hair. Those under him could recognize him at a glance and didn't dare to act rashly in his presence. This was Gin's unique intimidation.
This time, the store manager was going to serve the dishes himself, but Wakita Kensuke grabbed the job and handed it to Maori Kogoro with a smile. He was Maori Kogoro's apprentice now, so how could he not come out to meet his master?
Maori Kogoro took the opportunity to grab him and asked in a low voice: "What is the origin of the guests at that table?"
Wakita Kanenori said with a bitter face: "We don't know either. Not long after they sat down, the customers were scared away, which seriously affected our business."
"Keep your voice down." Maori Kogoro reminded, "Those two guys look tough. Don't let them catch you doing anything wrong."
Wakita Kanenori nodded.
"What did they order?" a childish voice came from the foot of the table.
Maori Kogoro looked down, his mouth twitching twice. When did this brat come in? How could he be so silent?
Wakita Kanenori asked, "Why are you asking this?"
Edogawa Conan said harmlessly, "Uncle said he wanted to eat the same thing as the rich people!" The crisp voice echoed in the store, and Mouri Kogoro suddenly felt very embarrassed.
He seemed to sense the gazes from behind him, and his hair stood on end. He smiled wryly and said, "I just think that food that attracts customers from far away must be very delicious."
Edogawa Conan lay on the table, looking at Wakita Kensuke with his eyes wide open: "I want to try it too."
"Didn't you buy a sandwich?" Kogoro Mouri said, pointing to the takeaway box in his hand.
Edogawa Conan put the box on the table: "Then let's share it!"
Mao Lilan smiled and said, "Okay, I haven't eaten Mr. Amuro's sandwiches for a while, and I miss the taste."
Wakita Kensuke thought for a moment and listed a series of dishes.
Edogawa Conan immediately raised his hand and said, "We want to fry tempura too." After that, he looked at Mouri Kogoro opposite him with anticipation.
"Go ahead." Kogoro Mouri said, holding his forehead.
"There are also baked oysters. They sound delicious." Mao Lilan also started to order.
"Come on, come on." Since we have already come out to eat, there is no need to be stingy.
It wasn't long before the dishes were served. Edogawa Conan took a bite of the tempura and exclaimed, "So crispy! So delicious!"
"Why are you so exaggerated?" Kogoro Mouri felt that the kid was a little crazy today. It wasn't the first time he had eaten it, so was it necessary to be like this?
Conan Edogawa smiled and said, "I don't know why, but I think today's tempura is especially delicious!"
Mao Lilan nodded in agreement: "Today's sushi is also better than before. Why is that?"
Kogoro Mouri was speechless and said, "It's probably a psychological effect." When they know that someone has come all the way in a luxury car to eat the things they usually eat, they will feel that these things are more delicious.
At the table behind, Vodka ate two sushis in one mouthful and said vaguely, "Brother, I still think Maori Kogoro is not a suspect. He just looks stupid."
Gin said noncommittally, "Eat well."
"Oh." Vodka swallowed the food in his mouth, picked up the bowl and continued eating.
Just as the vodka was about to be sold out, the door of the sushi restaurant was pushed open again.
"Mr. Maori, I'm here to add some food to your meal~" Toru Amuro walked in with the tray in both hands, pushed open the sliding door with his foot, and then put the tray on their table.
There was a steaming casserole on the plate, bubbling inside, and the aroma instantly filled the entire sushi restaurant.
Originally, bringing your own food into the store was not allowed, but at this moment the owner was hiding in the kitchen and refused to come out, so there was no way to stop him.
Amuro Toru said, "Tomato and beef brisket soup, please enjoy."
"It smells so good!" The red tomato soup and the tender beef brisket look so appetizing.
Vodka sniffed and couldn't help but say, "It looks delicious."
After hearing this, Amuro Toru turned to look at him and said, "Guest, would you like one too? Our shop is right next door, we can deliver it to you~"
Vodka wanted to eat it, but Gin said coldly: "No need."
Vodka could only continue eating with regret.
Mao Lilan thought for a moment and said to Mao Li Kogoro, "How about giving them some to try? We can't finish all this."
Maori Kogoro: "What if they mind?"
Amuro Toru took the empty bowl in front of Conan, filled it up, and brought it to Gin's table. Under Gin's deathly stare, he smiled and said, "Sir, please try it. If you like it, you can order it from the Poirot Café next door in the future."
With rice in his mouth, Vodka's eyes flicked between the bourbon, the tomato brisket, and the gin. Even through his sunglasses, one could tell he was hungry.
Gin curled his lips speechlessly and nodded slightly.
Vodka immediately said happily: "Thank you, boss!"
Then he picked up the bowl and sipped the soup.
"Delicious!" Vodka praised sincerely. He glanced at Amuro Toru from the corner of his eye, thinking: This kid's cooking is really good. As expected of a gold medal member of the intelligence team, what else can't he do?
Amuro Toru said with a smile: "As long as you like it."
Wakita Kanenori frowned, walked out from the kitchen, and said, "You are not allowed to bring your own food into the restaurant. It will disturb other customers!"
Amuro Toru looked around and said, "But today, apart from these two tables of guests, there is no one else. Let's just consider it a special case. I am also a disciple of Mr. Mori, so I have to show some filial piety."
Wakita Kanenori said reluctantly, "Alright. Just this once."
Gin looked at them with a hint of interest in his eyes, and thought: If Bourbon knew that this bucktoothed man was his immediate superior, would he still speak to him in this tone?
Vodka quickly finished all the food, wiped his mouth, and said, "Brother, I'm full."
Gin stood up and walked out.
Wakita Kensuke quickly grabbed his arm and said through gritted teeth, "Sir, you haven't paid yet! Are you trying to freeload?!"
Gin stared at him with sharp eyes.
Vodka immediately took out his wallet and said, "I'll pay!" Then he went to the counter to pay. The store manager bravely came out from the kitchen, quickly paid the bill, and even rounded off the change for them.
Gin said coldly: "Can you let go now?"
Wakita Kanenori awkwardly let go of his hand and watched the two men leave.
After the people left, the shop assistants who had been hiding rushed out.
"Wakita, you're so brave! You actually dared to stop them and ask for money! I underestimated you before. I will definitely give you a bonus today!"
"By the way, who are these two people? Are they from the Jidao?"
“Why do I feel like a foreigner?”
Everyone started talking at once, speculating about the identities of Gin and the other two, and their speculations became increasingly outrageous. Finally, Maori Kogoro couldn't help but join in.
However, Toru Amuro was a little confused about the reactions of Gin and Vodka.
When had Gin ever been so kind to a waiter? He didn't get angry when his sleeve was pulled, and he even calmly asked if he could leave. Did he take blood pressure medication today and his blood pressure didn't rise?
And vodka, why would he show respect to a cook?
Or...
Amuro Toru glanced vaguely at the surrounded Wakita Kanenori.
Or do they have to control their emotions in front of this person?
At this moment, he felt someone pulling his trouser legs twice, so he squatted down and asked, "What do you want to say?" Only Edogawa Conan could stand at this height.
Edogawa Conan leaned close to his ear and said, "Are they acting strangely today? In my impression, neither of them is easy to talk to. Especially Vodka. If someone were to cause trouble for Gin, he would definitely be the first to step up and stop them." He added, "And Wakita Kanenori is also strange. How could he not see that Gin and Vodka are in a superior-subordinate relationship? How could he not know that it must be Vodka who paid?"
Amuro Toru said meaningfully: "Maybe there are other reasons."
Edogawa Conan's eyes flickered slightly.
Originally, Wakita Kanenori was on his suspect list, and now, the possibility that he was Rum was even higher.
