Chapter 142 Contradiction
Toru Amuro arrived at the Poirot Café on time, and Azusa Enomoto had already made preparations.
"Mr. Amuro, have you finished your housework?" asked Azusa Enomoto.
Amuro Toru was too busy recently and took several days off, citing family matters. He smiled and said, "Yeah, I've taken care of it for now."
When Azusa Enomoto heard this, she thought his family was in trouble, so she considerately didn't ask any further questions and took the initiative to change the subject: "By the way, Ms. Mori ordered several days' worth of meals last night. Since you're here today, would you like to make them sandwiches? They haven't had your sandwiches in ages."
Her suggestion was exactly what Amuro Toru wanted, as he just happened to have something to ask Conan.
When he finished making the sandwiches and brought them upstairs, he found that there was no one in the office on the second floor.
"Hasn't he gotten up yet?" Amuro Toru put the plate on the coffee table and said to himself in confusion, "Strange, at this time of the day, Xiaolan and Conan must have gotten up."
He waited for a while, then went up to the third floor and knocked on the door. The main reason was that detective work could easily attract hatred, and because of the nature of Amuro Toru's work, he had to be cautious at all times, and he had to be extra careful about anything that disrupted his daily routine.
So, he knocked on the door and asked, "Mr. Maori, Conan, Xiaolan, are you home? Are you still awake?"
Not long after, footsteps were heard from inside the door.
Amuro Toru breathed a sigh of relief, it seemed that no accident had happened.
Edogawa Conan opened the door with his messy hair and a sleepy look on his face. "Mr. Amuro..."
"I'm here to bring you breakfast." Amuro Toru explained, "Ran ordered food yesterday, and I made sandwiches and left them in the office."
Edogawa Conan's head was dizzy, and he nodded randomly: "Okay, put it aside for now, I'll go downstairs to eat it later."
Amuro Toru leaned forward slightly and whispered, "Hurry up, I have something to tell you."
Conan Edogawa paused in his yawning, then resisted the urge to take a nap. He quickly washed his face, brushed his teeth, changed his clothes, and went to the second floor of the office to talk to Toru Amuro.
After all this tossing and turning, his sleepiness had largely faded. He took a bite of his sandwich and asked vaguely, "What do you want to tell me?"
Toru Amuro felt a little strange. In the past, whenever he showed signs of giving in, Conan Edogawa would take the opportunity to ask a lot of questions to test him. Why didn't he take the initiative to ask today?
If Edogawa Conan knew what he was thinking, he would definitely tell him that his brain had just received a lot of information last night, which occupied most of his memory and temporarily had no room to receive new information. But if Amuro Toru took the initiative to tell him, he would also passively accept it.
"I've been transferred to Gin's team." Amuro Toru threw out a big bomb first, "Although it may be temporary."
Edogawa Conan was a little surprised and asked, "Why?"
Amuro Toru frowned: "Why don't you have any expression?"
"Where is the expressionless part? I'm surprised." said Conan Edogawa.
Amuro Toru curled his lips. After saying that, he was still able to calmly eat his sandwich. It was really hard to tell where he was surprised.
What Edogawa Conan was thinking was that Rum was going to die anyway, and the forces under his command would definitely be redistributed at that time. Bourbon would be transferred sooner or later, and it was just earlier now.
"So what have you been doing lately?" asked Conan Edogawa.
Amuro Toru came back to his senses and said, "I won't tell you the details. However, I noticed that Gin is building his own intelligence network." His eyes darkened, "He doesn't seem to trust the information given by Rum anymore."
Hearing this, Edogawa Conan was not surprised. The plan they had discussed last night was to provoke a power struggle within the Black Organization, but they hadn't expected it to start now. However, this would be more conducive to the implementation of their plan.
Amuro Toru noticed that Edogawa Conan seemed particularly calm today, unlike before when he would get so jumpy at the mention of Gin. Could he be taking acting lessons?
Edogawa Conan was full after eating two sandwiches. He sipped his milk and asked, "Any other information?"
Toru Amuro: "..."
Something is wrong, something is really wrong.
He touched his chin and asked in confusion, "Why are you so calm?"
"No, I'm still surprised to hear that Gin and Rum are going head to head." Edogawa Conan shook the milk carton, making sure the liquid inside was drunk, and threw it into the trash can. He said casually, "I went to Mr. Akai's place last night and discussed a plan."
Amuro Toru frowned and asked in a deep voice, "What is the FBI going to do now?"
"The FBI isn't the leader of this plan." Edogawa Conan smiled slightly, "Do you want to know?"
"What do you mean?" Amuro narrowed his eyes, "Don't tell me you are the leader?"
"It's not me." Edogawa Conan shook his head. "If you get involved in this matter, you will encounter a lot of trouble later, and it may even reveal your undercover identity, so I'm not sure whether I should let you participate."
Amuro Toru's expression became even more confused: "What's going on?"
Edogawa Conan said seriously: "Assassinate Rum."
As soon as he said this, Amuro Toru's face changed drastically. He said in a deep voice: "Do you know what you are talking about? This is not a joke!"
Edogawa Conan said coldly: "I'm not kidding you. We already know Rum's identity and have planned this plan based on his personality and habits. If you want to join, I will take you to meet the mastermind. But you have to think clearly. Once the plan succeeds, Rum's men may be divided up and liquidated, and even your undercover identity may be exposed. So I still think it's best for you not to get involved. It just so happens that you have been transferred to Gin, so in the end it shouldn't involve you."
Amuro Toru pondered for a moment and said, "No, it's precisely because I'm now under Gin that I want to get involved in this matter." He said with a firm look in his eyes, "The conflict between Gin and Rum has long been irreconcilable. Gin was the first person to be suspected of Rum's death. We can put the blame on him."
Conan Edogawa: ...Why did you adults all come up with the same way of shifting the blame?
Amuro Toru continued, "Moreover, we can also make the traces of blaming others more obvious, so that Gin will think that it was done by other senior executives, and provoke a fight between them."
Conan Edogawa: ...Why are you all so cruel?
The more Toru Amuro thought about it, the more he thought this plan was feasible. Rum's death was a win-win situation. He looked at Conan with shining eyes and said, "Take me to see the mastermind!"

"This morning, the official account of the East China Field Group released a message on social media. It said that the medical laboratory under the East China Field Group had achieved a breakthrough and would soon hold a medical seminar, inviting many medical scholars to attend..."
"...Tohno Group stated that this research result will change the future of medical care..."
"...The details of the project haven't been announced yet, so we've invited XXX experts to analyze which medical projects could have the potential to impact the healthcare landscape..."
Various news reports came on TV. All day long, the news programs focused on the upcoming medical seminar held by the Dongye Group. After all, medicine itself is closely related to the public. How could a technology that could change the future not attract attention?
Rum crossed his hands in front of his mouth, his brows furrowed.
At this moment, his personal phone rang.
This was the fifth call this morning, and he knew what the caller was going to say without even answering.
He stared at the phone interface until the call was about to be automatically hung up before answering it.
"Rum, have you seen today's news?" an anxious voice came from the other end of the line. "The Dongye Group is about to release its technology! What should we do then?"
Rum said, "What can I do? It's someone else's technology, so if they want to release it, just release it."
The person on the other end of the phone choked and said dissatisfiedly, "But, how are we going to explain this to the boss?"
Rum sneered, "Oh, say what you will. Your own research ability is poor, and you blame the outsiders for being too good? If they could research something decent, would the boss restart the plan to seize the Dongye Group?"
"...If you complete the mission sooner, won't the new technology be ours?"
Rum rolled his eyes silently. He knew that in the end the blame would fall on him.
"Okay, don't worry," he said. "A seminar isn't a press conference. It means the technology still has flaws or can't be widely used yet. I'll get it before we get there."
"It's agreed!" The person on the other end of the phone paused and added, "Then can you give me their data..."
Rum interrupted, "Forget it. They must have a backup, unless they killed all the experimental personnel. But I think it's better to keep a backup. If our research fails, we might have to go back to the original team in the end."
"...Your concerns are valid."
After hanging up the phone, Rum turned off his phone. What a bunch of brainless people! Their words were laughable.
It would be easy to clear the East Field Group's experimental data; all it would take was a bag of bombs. But the problem was, the technicians inside were the real treasures, and they should be brought in. How could they do such a foolish thing as killing researchers just for experimental data?
Is information important? Talent is important!
As long as they have talented people, they can research it again even if all the information is lost.
"A bunch of short-sighted old fools," Rum muttered to himself. "They never thought about why the boss only ordered the theft of technical data and didn't ask for the originals to be erased. Isn't it because he's afraid his own people won't be able to figure it out?"
However, this medical conference was indeed an opportunity. If someone were to sneak into the venue, stealing the information wouldn't be easy.
Rum originally wanted to send Bourbon over, but suddenly remembered that the person was taken away by Gin.
Sigh… Bourbon really works well!
Rum reviewed all the available personnel and decided on the main operatives. Disano, a plain-looking passerby, could disguise himself as a cleaner; Mulantan, who could attend the seminar as a doctor; and Kayao, who would be the contact person.
He thought again and decided that this mission was very important and he could ask Vermouth to carry it out together. As for Gin… forget it, he no longer wanted to give him any performance.
However, Rum doesn't want Gin to participate, but he can participate himself.
Gin now has more people he can use than Rum. Intelligence agent Bourbon is a veteran in stealing information; actress Kil could infiltrate and become a host; Chianti and Cohen, though lesser, are no problem to connect with...
Moreover, he has a hidden trump card in his hand, that is Hatori Yuichi.
Hatori Yuiichi has successfully captured the second son of the Tono family. As long as he is there, this mission will be easy.
Gin curled the corners of his lips, revealing an expression of confidence in victory.
