Chapter 29 Chapter 29 Don't Lie to Me
Pei Shuyu's mind was in a mess and he obediently closed his eyes.
Then he felt Lu Hean's palm covering him, and then loosened after a few seconds.
Pei Shuyu: “?”
To avoid pushing people too hard.
After doing that action, Lu Hean nodded obediently and went out.
Pei Shuyu breathed a sigh of relief after the door closed. He had just taken off his vest with one hand when the door opened again.
Lu Hean came in with pajamas, "I've left your clothes here. Call me if you need anything."
Pei Shuyu covered his chest with his hands and nodded vigorously twice.
Actually, it's not so bad to shower with one hand, at least you have your hands. But rubbing your back is a bit inconvenient. When he came out, he saw Lu Hean sitting on the sofa typing on his computer.
Wearing a pair of gold-rimmed glasses, he looked different from the one Pei Shuyu had seen before.
Focused, serious, and more of a gentleman.
Seeing him come out, Lu Hean put away his computer, patted the empty seat next to him, and smiled: "Brother Shuyu, come and sit down."
Pei Shuyu walked over slowly and sat down, his expression not particularly good. It was too quiet, what else could he say? The key point was that he couldn't find any topic to talk about with Lu Hean.
What did he do in Sevan? Hahaha, forget it, he's like a psychopath.
I thought I would just sit there doing nothing, but unexpectedly Lu Hean stood up and fetched a new medicine box, "Give me your hand."
The alcohol cotton wiped the dried blood for him bit by bit, with focused and gentle movements. Pei Shuyu was mesmerized watching.
The cold liquid touched his skin, causing a subtle sting and a stronger smell of disinfectant that permeated the narrow space between them. Lu Hean lowered his eyelashes, his gold-rimmed lenses reflecting the cold white light from the ceiling light, obscuring the emotion beneath his eyes.
This excessive concentration made Pei Shuyu feel an invisible pressure, even more suffocating than being caught in the bathroom just now. He subconsciously wanted to curl his fingers.
"Why did your hand injury get worse?" Lu Hean asked suddenly. His voice was not loud, but it was like a piece of ice thrown into the silent water, clearly hitting Pei Shuyu's tense nerves.
Pei Shuyu's Adam's apple rolled, his gaze quickly passing from Lu He'an's face to his wrist, which had been carefully cleaned. He suppressed his panic, maintaining a calm exterior, and made up a story with a deliberately casual tone: "I fell while walking."
The air stagnated for a moment.
The alcohol cotton swab brushed across the edge of a deeper scratch, and the force seemed to increase, causing Pei Shuyu's fingertips to tremble slightly.
Lu Hean didn't stop moving, and didn't even look up at him, but his steady voice dropped a bomb without any warning.
"I went to Sevan today."
“…”
Pei Shuyu pursed his lips after hearing this, but still held on to a hopeful mentality, "Ah? Oh..."
He felt Lu Hean's gaze finally lifted up through the cold lens, and then fell accurately on his face, examining every subtle change in his expression.
There was inquiry and understanding in that look, and perhaps a hint of concealed displeasure, weighing heavily on him.
Pei Shuyu's throat tightened and he tried to make a final futile struggle: "You...what are you doing in Saifan?" Every word seemed to be squeezed out from between his teeth.
Lu Hean stopped wiping.
He finally raised his eyes and met Pei Shuyu's forcedly calm gaze.
The eyes behind the lenses were as deep as a bottomless lake, clearly reflecting Pei Shuyu's current panic and nervousness. The corners of his lips seemed to lift ever so slightly, but that curve didn't convey any warmth, instead carrying a kind of knowing self-mockery.
"What are you going to do?" Lu Hean repeated his question. His voice was low and smooth, but every word was clear. With an invisible, slowly tightening sense of oppression, it pinned Pei Shuyu firmly in place. "Brother Shuyu, I missed you, so I went to Saifan to find you."
He threw the question back lightly.
The air in the room was completely frozen.
The smell of disinfectant mixed with cedar pheromones spread silently.
Pei Shuyu thought of the bandages and water sent by the kind-hearted person that Yu Wei mentioned.
Not knowing what to reply for a moment, he could only pretend he didn't hear and change the subject, "Ah, um, which room do I sleep in?"
Changing the subject? Lu Hean didn't indulge him. Seeing Pei Shuyu's stubborn attitude, even if there was something going on between them, it would be over in a month.
What's more, there is really nothing between them.
"Brother Shuyu, you haven't answered my question yet. Why did your hand injury get worse?" Lu Hean's voice became softer, even with a hint of grievance at the end, but the cotton swab in his hand did not stop, pressing steadily on the scar on Pei Shuyu's wrist. The force was not strong, but it was enough for Pei Shuyu to not ignore it.
Pei Shuyu jerked his hand away as if burned, and stood up completely. His tall figure seemed a little uneasy. "I just... I just said I fell. How can I make it worse? Why can't I reason with a little kid like you..."
Lu Hean slowly threw the blood-stained cotton swab into the trash can and stood up.
He was slightly taller than Pei Shuyu, and though still a college student, he carried a strange, oppressive air. He took off his gold-rimmed glasses and casually placed them on the coffee table. Without the lens, his eyes appeared even clearer, revealing a stubborn seriousness.
"Don't lie to me, Brother Shuyu." He repeated, a pitiful smile forming at the corner of his mouth. "If you have any difficulties, I can help you."
Pei Shuyu thought about Saifan and didn't want to recall it. "I'm not having any problems... I'm really fine." He subconsciously took a step back, his heel hitting the edge of the sofa and almost tripping.
"You were persuaded to retreat by Saifan, right?" He accurately pointed out what Pei Shuyu tried hard to conceal.
"If I let you go back to Sevan, would you be happy?"
Lu Hean took a step forward, his voice still maintaining that gentle tone, but his eyes were locked tightly on Pei Shuyu, like an invisible rope, "I can help you go back, as long as you want."
"Yes, I was persuaded to leave, but I can find a way back on my own." Pei Shuyu felt his face burning, the kind of embarrassment and awkwardness that comes from having a lie exposed. "Really... I can do it on my own..."
"Can you do it yourself?" Lu Hean tilted his head slightly, his eyes full of "do you think I believe it?", but his tone became more and more innocent. "What can you do? Brother Shuyu, I'm worried about you. I really can help you. My friend's family has invested in Saifan."
He stretched out his hand, as if wanting to touch Pei Shuyu's wrist again.
Pei Shuyu put his hands behind his back as if hiding from something, and scratched his half-wet hair irritably. "No need...it's too much trouble for you."
Lu Hean's hand paused in mid-air, his fingertips curling slightly. He lowered his eyes, his long lashes casting a small shadow under his eyes. His voice also lowered, with a deep sense of loss: "I am meddling in your business." He paused, and when he looked up again, his eyes seemed a little red. "I just want you to rely on me a little more... Don't always treat me like a child. Aren't we in a relationship?"
He looked vulnerable and sincere, and with that handsome face, he was extremely lethal.
Kids are kids. He actually took a one-month agreement seriously...
Pei Shuyu is a soft-hearted person who cannot stand being tough. He can't stand others showing weakness, especially Lu Hean's current look of "I only care about you in the whole world", which makes him feel that he is so timid and pretentious.
"Ahem...um..." Pei Shuyu cleared his throat awkwardly, his tone softening considerably. "I'm fine, really fine." He tried to end the topic. "Where is the room? I'm a little sleepy."
Lu Hean sniffed, trying hard to suppress the "grievance", and put on a forced smile again: "Okay, I'll take you there." He turned and walked towards the empty room, his steps seemed a little heavy.
Pei Shuyu breathed a sigh of relief and hurried to catch up.
He just felt his mind was even more confused and his heart was filled with anxiety.
Lu Hean pushed open a door, and inside was clean and tidy, with the bed already made. "Brother Shuyu, you can sleep here." He stood at the door, but didn't go in, just stepped aside.
"Oh, okay, thank you." Pei Shuyu felt as if he had been pardoned. He just wanted to lock himself up quickly to sort out his thoughts.
Just as Pei Shuyu stepped into the room, Lu Hean's voice rang out again, softly and cautiously probing: "Brother Shuyu..."
Pei Shuyu's scalp tingled, and he turned back warily: "What's wrong?"
Lu Hean pursed his lips, with a little uneasiness in his eyes: "Do you... do you lock the door when you go to bed at night? I'm afraid your hands will hurt in the middle of the night, or you will want to drink water or something... What if you call me and I can't hear you?" His excuse was extremely legitimate and full of consideration.
Pei Shuyu answered without thinking: "My hand is much better, it doesn't hurt anymore. I should have slept very soundly in the middle of the night, so I won't be thirsty, don't worry." He waved his hand.
"Okay, I'm scared. If I'm scared at night, can I come and sleep with you?"
Pei Shuyu thought about it, did not refuse, and nodded.
When he was in the orphanage, many children were afraid to sleep alone.
After receiving a positive response, Lu Hean returned to his room.
The fragile and aggrieved expression on his face instantly vanished. The corners of his mouth slowly curved up into a triumphant arc, and his eyes grew deep, without a trace of the tearful look he had just had.
He raised his hand, his fingertips gently swiped across the cold screen of his phone, and silently mouthed two words:
mine.
