Chapter 77 Chapter 77 Lu Hean... is dead? ...

Chapter 77 Chapter 77 Lu Hean... is dead? ...

A few months ago, an encrypted message appeared on Pei Shuyu's terminal. A strong intuition told him that this was the man hiding in the shadows on the cruise ship.

He pressed the answer button, and the other party still used that processed, featureless electronic voice: "Well, have you thought about it?"

"I've thought it over," Pei Shuyu said calmly, "I'll join."

There was no bargaining, no hesitation, and this overly straightforward answer actually caused the other end to remain silent for a moment.

Then, a sinister laugh echoed, carrying the joy of finding one's own kind: "Sure enough... we are the same kind of people."

"Where's Huos?" Pei Shuyu ignored his comments, gripped the terminal tightly, and asked the question that concerned him most. "You said that if I joined, you would hand him over to me."

"Don't be impatient..." the voice drawled, its tone tinged with the playful humor of a cat and mouse. "You need to demonstrate your sincerity in joining. You must first complete three tasks for me. Once you've completed them, Huos, you can do whatever you want with me."

Pei Shuyu's eyes darkened slightly: "Which three?"

"First," the other party said lightly, yet the content was of great significance, "tell me everything about Saifan's recent movements."

Pei Shuyu didn't agree immediately. Instead, he retorted solemnly, "This is too risky. Frequently transmitting internal information will definitely be exposed over time. Have you ever considered what would happen if I were caught?"

"Isn't this something I should consider?" The other person's tone grew colder. "If you don't agree, then I can't hand Hoss over to you. After all, how can I trust someone who can't even show this little bit of 'sincerity'?"

A brief silence fell on both ends of the line, leaving only the faint sound of breathing. After a few seconds, Pei Shuyu seemed to finally give in, his voice lowering: "...Okay."

He paused and asked, "What about the remaining two things?"

"Hahaha..." The other party laughed happily, seeming very satisfied with his compromise. "As for the remaining two things... I haven't thought about them yet. When I think of them, I will tell you."

Before he could finish his words, the communication was abruptly cut off.

Pei Shuyu slowly lowered his arms and stood alone in the silent space. He took a few deep and slow breaths, trying to suppress the complex emotions surging in his chest.

The bonfire was burning brightly.

The light illuminated Pei Shuyu's face as he squatted on a rock, throwing things into the fire with an expressionless face.

The expressions of everyone present, except for the rebels, were solemn and desperate.

Their captain, a brilliant graduate of Sevan, had actually turned against them and joined the enemy faction of the alliance! Several of the young men couldn't accept it and began to sob secretly.

One person cried, and the second and the third were infected... an atmosphere of sadness enveloped them.

The rebels were annoyed by their noise and kicked each of the crying people. "You are so noisy! If you cry again, I will kill you!"

The young men were kicked all over the place, screaming in pain. Xiao Qingyang was next to them and was not much better off.

Pei Shuyu didn't even look at them.

At this moment, Xiao Qingyang no longer had the joking look he had before. He was tied together with these young men and stared at Pei Shuyu together. He tried to find some flaws in Pei Shuyu.

This has to be another drill, right? Right? Right! It has to be… They've been so lazy lately, so they came up with this nasty trick! It's happened before!

That's right! Maybe it's to train newcomers! No wonder they assigned so many newcomers to such an important task. They must want to train them! After all, he and Pei Shuyu also went through this.

Yes! That's definitely the case! He can't give in! He has to set an example!

But this time… this time it felt a bit more realistic. Had Pei Shuyu's acting improved? So he'd been noticed by the higher-ups and wasn't going to be a hostage with them anymore? Xiao Qingyang couldn't accept this imaginary fact.

My body, which was a little cold, now felt hot.

His own failure is terrible, but his friend’s success is even more worrying!

He couldn't help but shout, "Pei Shuyu!"

Pei Shuyu stopped poking the small fire and looked at him with cold eyes.

"Well, let's just admit defeat... okay?" Xiao Qingyang looked at those clueless young men, trying to move towards Pei Shuyu, and whispered, "We've played the game, right? Just scare them, and we can call it a day. Where are the others? Call them out."

Before Pei Shuyu could reply, Xiao Qingyang was also kicked.

The man who kicked Xiao Qingyang was a burly man with a scar on his face. He glared at Xiao Qingyang fiercely and said, "Behave yourself! If you keep talking nonsense, I'll cut off your tongue!"

"Damn it!" Xiao Qingyang grimaced in pain, but didn't dare to say anything. He could only glare back with resentment to express his dissatisfaction.

You wait, you bastard! You wait! I'll remember you! Don't let your gun go off accidentally, or you choke to death while drinking water, or trip and die while walking!

At this moment, a member of the rebel party quickly walked up to Pei Shuyu and whispered, "Mr. Pei, the 'boss' wants to see you."

Pei Shuyu's face remained expressionless. He just stood up silently, threw the branch he was using to stir the fire into the flames, and followed the man out of the open space shrouded in despair.

The other captured Sevan members looked at his back with complicated eyes, including anger, confusion, and the chill of being completely betrayed.

Pei Shuyu was taken to a relatively independent temporary barracks built with simple planks not far away.

The person who led the way raised his head slightly, motioned him to go in, and then stood guard outside the door.

Pei Shuyu pushed open the door. The space inside was small, lit only by a dim camping lantern. A man stood with his back to him, in front of a simple table covered with a map, seemingly studying something. Hearing the door open, the man slowly turned around.

When the light illuminated that face, Pei Shuyu's pupils suddenly contracted, his breathing almost stopped instantly, and his face was filled with shock and disbelief that could not be concealed.

“…It’s you?”

Standing before him was one of the founders of Sevan.

Zhou Ting.

Sevan was founded by three founders of different genders.

There's Shang Xu, the beta, who manages attendance and daily tasks; Jin Shengxi, the omega, who oversees finances; and finally, Zhou Ting, the alpha, who's in charge of planning and making decisions.

Pei Shuyu's eyes darkened.

This person was Zhou Ting, who had predicted the rebels' actions, wiped out multiple rebel nests, and defeated them repeatedly.

It turns out that it had been infiltrated so early.

Zhou Ting looked at Pei Shuyu's shocked expression, and a leisurely and satisfied smile appeared on his face, with the composure of someone who had been in a high position for a long time.

"Are you surprised, Shuyu?" Zhou Ting's voice was no longer altered, but his deep and magnetic voice was now filled with a chilling affinity. "Or should I call you... 'V'?"

"Did you create the rebel party?" Pei Shuyu asked back.

"Yes." Zhou Ting paced slowly and looked at the distribution map of their rebels on the paper, his eyes as if he was examining a satisfactory work.

Pei Shuyu's throat trembled unconsciously, and he said with difficulty: "Then why... did you establish Saifan?"

Zhou Ting seemed to have heard something funny. He laughed twice and sat back in his chair. "Haha, Shuyu, you are too naive. There is no conflict between me founding the Rebel Party and founding Saifan."

Pei Shuyu was more shocked than shocked at first, but after hearing Zhou Ting's outrageous remarks, he was now even more angry. He seemed to be greatly stimulated and shouted at Zhou Ting: "How can there not be a conflict! You clearly know that the original intention of establishing Saifan was to achieve equal rights!"

"You're saying the original intention was to maintain checks and balances, to maintain that ridiculous 'fairness' and 'justice'?" He scoffed, his tone filled with disdain. "Shu Yu, the world is just so unfair. Otherwise, how could some people be born alpha and some omega? People are already divided into different classes from birth."

"As alphas, we should have more rights than omegas and betas."

Zhou Ting looked at the anger boiling in Pei Shuyu's eyes and smiled disapprovingly. He stood up, walked over to Pei Shuyu, and said earnestly, "Good boy, it is precisely because the world is inherently unfair that high-level alphas like you and me should recognize our place and stand at the height we deserve."

His voice was low and full of temptation. "The rebel party is the best place for you. Here, strength is the rule, and the strong should rule everything."

Pei Shuyu's expression seemed a little shaken.

Seeing this, Zhou Ting leaned forward slightly, staring at Pei Shuyu sharply, and continued to add fuel to the fire: "Think about your friend. Don't you want to avenge him with your own hands? Huo Si, the culprit, I know where he is." Zhou Ting spread his hands and made a generous gesture. "As long as you really want to stay, I can immediately hand Huo Si over to you and let you do whatever you want with him. Isn't this what you have always wanted?"

Hearing the name "Yu Wei" and the whereabouts of "Hoss", Pei Shuyu's fingertips trembled almost imperceptibly.

He raised his eyes and looked directly at Zhou Ting, his tone calm and almost harsh: "Is this the way you always use to win people over? Intimidation and inducement?"

Zhou Ting looked at him dissatisfiedly.

Pei Shuyu paused, a subtle hint of sarcasm in his voice, "If one day in the future you need to win over one of my 'enemies', will I end up like Huos in the future?"

Zhou Ting obviously hadn't expected such a question. He was stunned for a moment, then laughed and shook his head, his tone even taking on a hint of elderly "kindness": "Of course not, child. You're different from them."

He emphasized, "I see your level and your potential. I truly admire you and value you. Otherwise, how do you think you survived the explosion a few years ago? It wasn't just luck."

Pei Shuyu's fists suddenly clenched at his sides, his nails almost digging into his palms.

The details and doubts of the accident flashed through his mind in an instant, but he did not reveal any of it. He just suppressed the surging blood and energy in his heart and blocked it.

He was silent for a few seconds, then asked another question: "What's with that video... Why did I end up on that boat with Lu He'an over a decade ago? My kidnapping... is also related to you, right?"

Zhou Ting seemed unconcerned about the question, his fingers unconsciously tapping the map as if recalling a trivial past event. "The kidnapping of Lu He'an was intended to teach Lu Tingyuan a lesson. His partner, Lin Kong, was secretly developing a drug that would allow omegas to achieve pheromone self-sufficiency during estrus." Zhou Ting's tone cooled. "If successful, omegas would be able to break free from their physiological dependence on alphas, which would shake the foundation of alpha rule. And Lu Tingyuan, far from stopping them, openly expressed his support."

"So, he was our first target. Our goal was to make an example of him, to show everyone the consequences of challenging the rules." Zhou Ting scoffed, a hint of regret at having missed the mark. "However, Lu Tingyuan is indeed cunning. He seemed to have sensed the rumors ahead of time and knew we might harm his family. So, he found a scapegoat of equally high rank for his precious son."

His gaze fell on Pei Shuyu, with a cruel understanding: "That's you."

"He used misleading information to make us mistakenly believe that you are Lu He'an. In this way, even if our operation succeeds, the loss of a fake Lu He'an will not cause any loss to his Lu family at all."

Zhou Ting still found this old story interesting when she mentioned it. "But I never thought that it would be two children who sneaked out of the Lu family's back door that day."

There were two people, so just in case they caught the wrong one, they caught both of them.

The barracks fell into dead silence.

Pei Shuyu stood there, the dim light casting bright and dark shadows on his face.

Zhou Ting's words were like a sharp dagger, peeling away the fog of the past layer by layer.

He was silent for a moment, as if engaged in a fierce ideological struggle. Finally, he slowly raised his head and said, "You are right... This world is a world where the strong prey on the weak. The so-called fairness is nothing but an illusion deceived by the weak." He met Zhou Ting's scrutinizing gaze directly. "Alpha has power and should be in control of everything."

Zhou Ting observed his expression carefully and saw that he seemed to be really persuaded. A satisfied smile appeared on his face, which was a kind of pleasure of being in control of everything.

"Very good, you've figured it out. That's good." He walked forward, patted Pei Shuyu on the shoulder, and his tone became "heartfelt and open." "Since you're already one of us, I can tell you my second request now." He paused, then spoke clearly, "I want you to bring Lin Kong here, unharmed, to see me."

Pei Shuyu's body stiffened slightly, and he did not answer immediately.

Zhou Ting didn't rush him. He walked to the side, picked up a strangely shaped mask and put it on. At the same time, he turned on the voice changer. The familiar, featureless electronic voice sounded again: "Let's go, get out first."

The two men walked out of the barracks one after the other.

Outside by the campfire, the tied-up members of the Sevan team saw them come out, especially when they saw Pei Shuyu following the masked "boss", their eyes became even more desperate.

Zhou Ting used a voice changer to address his subordinates standing guard outside, saying nonchalantly, "These people are useless. Get rid of them."

"Yes!" Several people immediately stepped forward with grim smiles on their faces, pointing their guns at Xiao Qingyang and others who were tied together.

Digging a hole?! Are you serious?!

Xiao Qingyang stared wide-eyed at the black muzzle of the gun. The shadow of death instantly loomed over him. Was he really going to die inexplicably in this hellish place today?! He subconsciously looked at Pei Shuyu, his throat tight, but he couldn't even utter a last word.

At this critical moment, Pei Shuyu stepped forward and stood in front of Xiao Qingyang and the others, "No."

Zhou Ting, who was wearing a mask, turned his head suddenly, and his sudden displeasure could be felt through the mask.

Pei Shuyu met his invisible gaze and analyzed calmly, "Killing them now, we won't have any hostages. We'll lose the bargaining chip we can use to negotiate with the alliance and exchange for Professor Lin Kong."

Zhou Ting stared at him silently, as if weighing the pros and cons.

After a few seconds, the cold murderous aura around him slowly subsided, and there was even a hint of approval in the electronic voice.

"Haha... Shuyu, I was right about you. You are indeed very smart." He waved his hand, signaling his men to retreat. "Then let's save their lives for now."

He turned to Pei Shuyu, handed him a dagger, and his tone returned to its previous "trust": "Then, the task of hostage exchange is left to you. Don't let me down."

Pei Shuyu took it and nodded slightly. There was no extra expression on his face, only indifference.

Zhou Ting took his men away.

Pei Shuyu glanced at Xiao Qingyang and others who had survived the disaster and were still in shock. Without saying much, he walked up and grabbed someone at random.

After being touched by Pei Shuyu, the man began to struggle violently, shouting "No, help!" and so on...

Xiao Qingyang had no idea what Pei Shuyu was going to do, so he could only yell in vain: "Pei Shuyu! They're only in their early twenties!"

He tried to use age to awaken Pei Shuyu's conscience.

"Have you forgotten? We were about the same age when we entered Saifan. Do you really not think of yourself when you look at them? Pei Shuyu!"

Pei Shuyu turned a deaf ear and raised his dagger.

Xiao Qingyang couldn't bear to watch any longer and turned his head away.

A few seconds later, he heard the sound of a rope falling to the ground. Xiao Qingyang dared to open his eyes and saw Pei Shuyu cut the man's rope with a dagger.

Xiao Qingyang was overjoyed! Pei Shuyu, you still have a conscience!

Pei Shuyu then said, "You, go back to Saifan. Tell them that Pei Shuyu has joined the rebels and that all of you have been captured. If you don't want them to die, exchange them for Professor Lin Kong. The location is..."

Xiao Qingyang: ...

My brother's rebellion breaks my heart.

After saying that, Pei Shuyu pushed the young man, but he didn't expect that the man's legs went weak and he fell to the ground before his brain realized that he was saved.

He slowly came back to his senses after hearing Xiao Qingyang's shouts, and then he stood up using his hands and feet, ran away, and disappeared.

Soon, news of Pei Shuyu's defection spread throughout Saifan and Cairns. Because Pei Shuyu didn't respond to messages, Lu Hean sat in Saifan and demanded his release. Upon hearing the news, everyone's reaction was: "What nonsense is this new guy talking about?"

Some even tried to beat him up, but the newcomer ran away in panic, crying out for help.

It wasn't until Lin Kong left Haicheng and came to Saifan that he confirmed the accuracy of the news.

"I don't agree." Lu Hean said.

Lu Hean's words "I don't agree" were so loud that they echoed in the room.

The room was completely silent. Everyone lowered their heads, no one agreed or objected. They really had no right to ask Professor Lin Kong to take risks for them.

The three founders of Sevan received the news, making it a rare sight to be together. Their expressions grew graver than the others. Jin Shengxi kept flipping through the list of captured personnel, his lips pursed until they turned pale.

"Father won't agree either." Lu He'an brought up Lu Tingyuan and said.

"Before, he could change his consent to disagreement. Now he can change his disagreement to consent." Lin Kong's voice was calm. "I won't be harmed by them. I know what they want. If I don't change, they will still find a way to catch me. The only fate for those poor children is death."

Lu Hean's eyes were red: "That won't work! It's too dangerous! I'll go with you!"

"That should be possible." Lin Kong tried to lighten the mood, even forcing a smile. "They didn't say I could go alone."

These words seemed to ignite the silent crowd around them, and everyone immediately shouted, "Then! Then we'll go with you!"

At this moment, Lu Hean's terminal rang sharply, it was a video communication request.

Lu Hean answered the call.

"Professor Lin Kong," Pei Shuyu said coldly, holding a lollipop in his mouth, "You can only bring one person, and that person is Lu Hean. If you bring one more, the deal is off."

His camera suddenly turned to the side, and a strange, gloomy-looking man appeared at the edge of the screen. The man stared at the camera silently, his eyes like a venomous snake.

A few days later, the transaction began at an abandoned freight dock on the outskirts of the city.

The salty and humid sea breeze blew by, carrying the smell of rust. Only a few damaged containers were scattered on the empty concrete ground.

Pei Shuyu arrived promptly with a group of rebels. Xiao Qingyang and the other captured Saifan members were shoved into the middle of the group, all looking dejected. Beside Pei Shuyu sat the strange man in the terminal, who remained silent, his gaze fixed on his every move.

This person was a mute, and Pei Shuyu had asked Zhou Ting to hire him as his assistant. Zhou Ting didn't trust him at first, so Pei Shuyu's initiative to plant a spy was exactly what he wanted.

On the other side, Lu Hean protected Lin Kong and walked step by step from the dock entrance.

"Let him go." Pei Shuyu raised his chin towards the back.

The rebels roughly cut the ropes on Xiao Qingyang and the others' wrists. The released team members stumbled and ran towards Lu Hean.

Lin Kong took a deep breath and walked towards Pei Shuyu alone.

The moment the two teams crossed, Lu Hean suddenly shouted, "Pei Shuyu! Use me in exchange! I'm more useful as a hostage than my father! Don't you want to threaten him? I'm more suitable than him!"

Lin Kong turned around suddenly, shocked and angry: "Lu He'an! What are you doing? Take them away! Go!"

Hearing this, Pei Shuyu slowly pulled out a lollipop from his pocket, peeled off the wrapper, and put it in his mouth. He seemed to really consider it for a few seconds, then nodded: "Okay."

Lu Hean immediately seized the opportunity, rushed forward, pushed Lin Kong back with force, and walked towards Pei Shuyu without hesitation.

Just as Lu Hean was about to walk in front of them, the silent stranger suddenly moved! He quickly pulled out a pistol and pointed the black muzzle directly at Lu Hean's chest.

Almost at the same time, Pei Shuyu also moved! He suddenly reached out and grabbed the gun.

Immediately afterwards, with a "bang", gunshots rang out in the empty dock.

Lu Hean's body shook violently. He lowered his head and covered his chest in disbelief. Blood flowed out from between his fingers. His legs went limp and he fell to his knees.

"He An--!" Lin Kong let out a shrill cry and wanted to rush over, but was held back tightly by Xiao Qingyang who had reacted.

A trace of dissatisfaction flashed across the mute's face. He quickly took back the pistol and fired another shot at Lu Hean, who was already kneeling on the ground, without hesitation.

"Bang!"

This shot caused Lu Hean to collapse completely and lie motionless.

"Holy crap?! What's going on?!" Xiao Qingyang's mind buzzed, completely bewildered. His hands loosened, and Lin Kong ran out, hugging Lu Hean tightly in his arms.

Pei Shuyu, however, acted as if nothing had happened and made an "action" gesture indifferently.

In an instant, the rebel members who were lying in ambush all around swarmed out and surrounded them, even blocking the way for the car that was preparing to evacuate.

The mute stepped forward, wanting to test whether Lu Hean was dead or not. As soon as he stretched out his hand, Lin Kong slapped it away. The mute lost his patience and reached out to shake Lin Kong off. He checked Lu Hean's breath, and after confirming that he was not breathing, he nodded to the terminal that had been maintaining communication.

A processed electronic voice came from the other end of the terminal, accompanied by a satisfied smile: "Shu Yu, you did a great job. Get rid of these people. The gift is ready for you. I will give it to you when you come back."

Xiao Qingyang understood. These people had no intention of making a good deal! Now they wanted them all to die here?! Xiao Qingyang brainstormed whether he should fight to the death and take one of them away.

Lin Kong suddenly spoke with a hollow look in his eyes: "It's you, right? I know it's you. Do you want me to tell you your name right now?"

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line, and then a mocking voice said, "I know, so what?"

"Let these children go," Lin Kong's voice was not loud, but very clear. "I will go back with you."

"Professor Lin, what can you use to negotiate with me now?"

"I came here with a time bomb strapped to my body. Only I can stop it. Do you want everyone here, including your 'capable subordinates', and all your decades of planning, to be buried with them?"

The mute's expression changed slightly. He stepped forward and lifted up Lin Kong's coat. Sure enough, a bomb was tightly wrapped around his waist. Red numbers were counting down: 09:58... 09:57...

There was a commotion among the rebels.

Zhou Ting's voice rang out from the terminal again, with a gloomy tone after careful consideration: "...Okay. But if they leave, Lu Hean's body must be left behind."

Lin Kong became emotional: "You are still so shameless! He An is already dead! What do you want his body for!?"

"Okay," Zhou Ting interrupted impatiently, "Acai, bring them back. I can't wait to see the professor." The communication was cut off crisply.

The rebels reluctantly put down their weapons and watched Xiao Qingyang and the others get into the car.

Xiao Qingyang sat in the driver's seat, his eyes red as he stared at the figures of Pei Shuyu and Lin Kong in the rearview mirror until they shrank and disappeared. He slammed his fist on the steering wheel, and the car horn honked.

On the other side, Pei Shuyu and the mute escorted Lin Kong and carried Lu Hean's "corpse" into another car. The others were about to get on the car one by one.

"Lin Kong! What are you doing?!" Pei Shuyu's shocked and angry voice suddenly came from the car.

"I won't stop bombing! Let's die here together!"

The people outside the car looked through the window and saw that Lin Kong had a small remote control in his hand, and his thumb was pressing on the eye-catching red button!

"Run! What are you standing there for? He's going to explode!" Pei Shuyu yelled at the stunned people outside the car.

The people outside the car were so frightened that they didn't even bother to get in the car. They screamed and ran away in all directions.

The car door was closed with a bang.

Through the car window, all he could see were three people tussling with each other inside—Pei Shuyu, Lin Kong, and the mute, all desperately trying to grab the remote. The chaos was unbearable.

About five minutes later.

“Bang!” “Bang!”

Two consecutive dull gunshots were heard from inside the car.

Everything suddenly became quiet.

A minute later, the car door was pushed open.

Pei Shuyu got out of the car first. He held the scrapped bomb device in his hand and threw it into the overgrown waste pile in the distance.

His face was expressionless, he simply waved to the others who were still in shock and slowly gathered around him: "It's solved. Let's go."

Acai, who got out of the car after him, was also covered in blood. He took a closer look at the discarded bomb, then glanced at Lin Kong, who seemed to have lost consciousness in the car, and then nodded.

The rebel convoy, carrying "prisoners" and "corpses", drove away from the abandoned dock in dead silence.

After returning to the rebels' complex stronghold, Zhou Ting waved his hand and most of his men dispersed, leaving only Pei Shuyu and Acai.

One of them was carrying Lu Hean's lifeless "corpse", and the other was holding tightly to Lin Kong, who had a numb expression, as if his soul had died with his son.

Zhou Ting's gaze first fell on Lu Hean's "corpse", and he signaled the mute to put it on the ground.

He squatted down and carefully probed Lu Hean's carotid artery with his fingers, then leaned over and listened to his chest to confirm that there was no sign of heartbeat or breathing.

Throughout the entire process, Zhou Ting's face was filled with concentration and satisfaction, as if he was testing his prey.

Finally, he stood up, brushed off the non-existent dust on his hands, and smiled: "Very good."

He turned his gaze to the pale-faced Lin Kong, and his tone became "gentle": "Professor Lin, you've worked hard along the way. Let me take you to rest first, and by the way... take a look at the laboratory we have prepared for you." He signaled to his men, and Lin Kong was taken away in silence.

Zhou Ting then turned to Pei Shuyu and personally straightened his collar, which was a little messy in the scuffle, with a kind of hypocritical intimacy in his actions.

He took out a rusty old key and placed it in Pei Shuyu's hand, his tone as if giving him a great gift: "Go, Shuyu. This is the reward you deserve. It's in that abandoned warehouse."

Pei Shuyu gripped the cold key tightly, turned around and walked in the direction Zhou Ting had indicated without saying a word. Ah Cai followed closely behind him like a silent shadow.

The warehouse was very large, so Pei Shuyu asked Acai to wait outside. When he opened the door, a lot of dust flew in the air.

He walked in alone and closed the door.

In the corner, there was a vehicle belonging to Sevan, which was specially used to transport prisoners. The body of the vehicle had a clear Sevan logo.

Pei Shuyu opened the trunk with the key.

Light poured in, illuminating the bound figure inside—Hoss.

His whole body was tightly bound with ropes, and his mouth was covered with thick tape, so he could only make vague "whimpering" sounds.

When he saw clearly that the person coming was Pei Shuyu, extreme fear and anger instantly burst out in his eyes, and his body began to struggle violently.

Pei Shuyu sat in the trunk silently. In the narrow space, only the two of them and their heavy breathing were left.

His eyes fell on the hideous burn scar on Hoss's neck, and then he reached out his hand, not to touch the scar, but to pinch Hoss's left arm hard - the tentacle was cold and hard, it was a prosthetic limb.

He ripped the tape off Hoss's mouth.

Hoss gasped for breath.

Pei Shuyu said calmly: "Do you also think that a face covered in burns is ugly?"

Before Hoss could respond.

Pei Shuyu continued, "Yu Wei's ugliness isn't just on his face, it's all over his body. He used to... always say he was a handsome guy. On the other hand, even with plastic surgery, you can't hide your inherent ugliness."

"You want revenge for him? So you come to me?!" Hoss was shaking with anger, feeling greatly insulted. "Are you crazy?! It wasn't me who planted the bomb! It wasn't me who killed him! If it was me! How could I let myself become like this!"

"You know you're going to die soon, so you want to drag someone down with you?"

Pei Shuyu stared at his face, twisted with emotion, and continued slowly, "Two years ago, a fire suddenly broke out in a remote orphanage at night. With no neighbors nearby, they weren't discovered until late. By the time the firefighters arrived, the blaze was already so intense that half the children couldn't escape... A few days later, the director of the orphanage reportedly died of depression from excessive grief."

He leaned forward slightly, his eyes locked on Hoss's suddenly constricted pupils: "You did it, right?"

The anger on Huos's face froze instantly, replaced by a trace of panic at having the truth exposed. However, he immediately pretended to be calm: "You...what nonsense are you talking about! Where is the evidence!"

"Evidence?" Pei Shuyu's voice remained flat, yet it carried a deadly pressure. "I was at the scene and smelled your pheromones. Just like now, the smell of sewer rat on you is still so disgusting."

Huos's breathing became heavy, his eyes flickered, and he didn't dare to look Pei Shuyu in the eye again.

The warehouse door opened and Pei Shuyu walked out with a tired face.

Ah Cai looked behind him and saw the entire car on fire. He took a few steps forward.

"No need to look, he's dead." Pei Shuyu pulled his collar and squatted at the door of the warehouse, just sitting there.

A few hours passed, and Acai stood behind him and accompanied him.

Pei Shuyu seemed to have finally sat enough, so he stood up, dusted himself off, and said, "Let's go."

The author has something to say: I fixed the typos myself, if there are still any... I will fix them again!

The 3k word synopsis at the end is going away.

It might be finished soon, just a few chapters.

After finishing the main text, I will have to write something else in a few days.
