Chapter 1 Sorting Ceremony

Chapter 1 Sorting Ceremony

Brain Storage

Private mountain

—————————

When Jian Yu realized that she had traveled to the world of Harry Potter, she was already sitting on the sorting bench.

Before she traveled through time, she was lying on the bed reading a book. She was in a happy mood, so her brain had not yet recovered.

"Oh my god! What is this! Werewolf...captivity...forced...tentacles? Pure love...absolutely amazing?"

"What is s and what is m???"

Her eyes were covered by the brim of the Sorting Hat, and everything in front of her was dark. The voice continued to scream in her ears:

"Oh, no! My eyes! They're all yellow! My mind is all polluted!"

"Az...Slytherin!"

She threw off the stinky old hat, jumped off the stool, and stood there in a daze.

The four long tables in front of me were all filled with students.

Jian Yu had never read Harry Potter in her previous life, but her college roommate kept nagging her about it in her ear every day, saying things like ggAd... the old man without a nose... Snape's promotion... and so on.

In short, she only had some knowledge of this world and knew nothing else.

So now she was faced with the most pressing question: where was the Slytherin table?

However, her hesitation was seen by everyone in the school as a sign of her dissatisfaction with the results of the house sorting.

At the green Slytherin table, many people had frowned, with disgust in their eyes.

"What's her last name?" someone began to ask.

"Jade Jane."

"Jane? I've never heard of this surname in a pure-blood family." Pansy Parkinson supported her face and lifted her freshly done nails.

"A stinky mudblood? Is the Sorting Hat crazy?" Draco Malfoy looked disgusted.

"Calm down, Draco. Slytherin doesn't accept Muggles. He's most likely a half-blood." Blaise Zabini on the opposite side spoke slowly, with a smile on his face but no emotion in his eyes.

He was in the branch above her, and because of her foreign surname, Jian Yu was a student in the last branch of this class.

"She shouldn't be here," Blaise concluded.

Jane Yu was still standing in front of the stool on the stage. Professor McGonagall reminded her unhappily, "Miss Jane, I think you should go back to the Slytherin table."

She pointed at the long dark green table.

Jian Yu apologized in a low voice and then sat at the end of the long table, where there were just a few empty seats and she could stay away from the crowd - this was the best place for a socially anxious person like her.

Only then did she realize that her back was soaked with cold sweat. You know, for a socially anxious person, being watched by the whole school is a terrifying thing!

The little person inside her had started rolling around and screaming like crazy, and her toes were awkwardly digging a castle out of it.

Not to mention that she suddenly realized that with her poor English level, she could only understand half of the sentence by guessing!

Her rich inner life was never revealed on her face. In the eyes of others, her long straight black hair covered her ears, forehead and eyes, her lips were pursed into a straight line, her facial muscles were tightly stretched, her face was expressionless and indifferent, and she looked like she refused to communicate with others.

"What does she mean by this?" Draco slammed the table, his face red with anger, "Does she not take the pure-blood family seriously?"

The hook-nosed man sitting in the teacher's seat gave her a cold glance. Then his eyes stayed on Jian Yu for a moment before looking elsewhere.

Jian Yu didn't know yet that he had attracted the hatred of the entire hospital.

She is thinking about her future life.

Should I drop out of school, drop out of school, or drop out of school?

She vaguely remembered that her roommate once shouted that there would be a big battle here and countless people would die. And the green and lush academy she attended seemed to have joined some noseless gang and got beaten up.

And according to the 80/20 rule of time travel, she will most likely be one of the 80% cannon fodder and end up getting killed in the war.

This won’t work, I have to survive.

She shuddered.

Fortunately, the bearded principal on the stage finished his speech in just a few seconds. Although she didn't understand a word, she knew it was time to enjoy dinner.

On the golden plate in front of him appeared roast beef, roast chicken, pork chops, lamb chops and a variety of potatoes.

She cut a piece of beef, put it in her mouth and took a bite - not good, a strong smell of meat. The cattle and sheep here have definitely not been castrated, and they have a strong fishy smell, which is completely different from the meaty aroma of my previous life.

When she took another bite of the pork chop, she was hit by a foul smell - the pig had not been castrated, so she vomited it all out.

The only edible dish on the table was fish and chips.

British dark cuisine is well-deserved of its reputation.

She put down her knife and fork.

But the traditional Chinese virtue of diligence and thrift and not wasting food made her feel guilty.

So she packed up the three bite-sized pieces of steak with a napkin, stuffed them into her robe, and waited to return to the dormitory to slowly finish them.

These filthy things should be eaten with cookies, she thought. He stuffed a few more cookies into the napkin.

In order to eat normal food one day, she decided to drop out of school.

However, some troublemakers have come to stir up trouble.

A tall, strong girl with a thick chin suddenly sat down opposite her and said in a vicious voice: "Little Mudblood, you'd better go to the Dean and apply to withdraw from Slytherin, or you will die!"

Her name is Millicent Bulstrode. She listens to Pansy very much and thinks that those who tarnish the honor of pure-bloods should be expelled from the school.

Jian Yu raised her head, and Millicent felt as if she was being stared at by some ferocious beast. These dark, empty eyes without a trace of emotion were definitely not what an ordinary Mudblood would have.

All her muscles tensed up, and her brain warned her to get away from the girl - she tried to suppress the panic, knowing that if she ran away, she would immediately become a laughing stock in the entire college.

Being scared away by a mudblood, her reputation as a pureblood would be completely destroyed!

Jian Yu just felt strange. She could feel that the girl's voice was rough and low, as if there was sand grinding in her throat, which posed a challenge to her poor English listening skills.

She could only stare at the fat face carefully, trying to judge the meaning from her expression.

Unfortunately, she only heard one word "mudblood" the whole time.

What does this mean? Putting it at the beginning of a sentence, is it a special way of greeting in the British wizarding world?

So she confidently used her own half-baked English:

"mudblood, Jail!"

Jian Yu meant to first greet the girl in front of her, and then introduce her own name, Jian Yu.

Knowing that Oriental names are difficult for these British guys to pronounce, she considerately translated it into "Jail" based on the homonym.

I am such a caring and good classmate, she thought.

But Millicent's face changed drastically. She jumped up from her chair, glared at her fiercely, and quickly sat back in her original seat. She even stumbled a bit because she was walking too fast and was tripped by the leg of a stool.

What's going on? Jian Yu was very confused.

"She threatened me!" Millicent returned to her seat and complained to the people around her.

"I asked her to quit the academy, but she called me a mudblood and said she would send me to prison!" She was so angry that the fat on her face trembled and the wrinkles formed into a ball.

She had never suffered such a humiliation in her life.

But Pansy sneered: "Useless thing, being scared like this by a mudblood."

Seeing that several people were looking at her with contempt, Millicent wanted to argue, but thinking of her own family background and status, she had to shut up in disappointment.

"Now that everyone has eaten and drunk enough, I would like to say a few more words to everyone." Dumbledore stood up from the teacher's seat again, knocked on the edge of the table, and the food on the table disappeared.

Jian Yu understood that they were going to talk about things to pay attention to when school starts, so he pricked up his ears and listened carefully.

She knew that in a normal school, there would always be some school rules and regulations to be explained on the first day of school. If they are violated, the students will face disciplinary action or expulsion.

And this is exactly what she wanted, it would be best if she could be sent directly out of the magical world.

She could go back to her old job, practicing Chinese medicine or fortune-telling to support herself. By 1991, there were already Chinese people opening acupuncture clinics in London, and even feng shui shops in Chinatown.

Moreover, I was an orphan in my previous life, so there is no reason for me to return to that world. Maybe I can make more money by staying here. She thought so.

However, no matter how hard she listened, she couldn't change her weak English listening skills.

"Prohibit...students...what Lin?"

"Don't want what? ... Enter the fourth floor hallway... Surprise?"

She suddenly realized that she had to enter a place called "Forest" and go to the corridor on the fourth floor to get a surprise.

Entering this forest could cause her to violate school rules and get expelled, but before she dropped out, she still wanted to go to the fourth-floor corridor to experience the surprise. After all, it was her first time in the wizarding world, and if she dropped out, she would have no chance to experience the surprise of magic.

Then the classmates started singing again for some unknown reason. Jian Yu couldn't understand, so he could only look at the teachers' mouth shapes and start lip-syncing.

Then the crowd filed out, and Jian Yu stayed at the end of the line. No classmates paid any attention to her.

This made her feel relieved.

Not asking too many questions is the best respect you can show to a socially anxious person.

The team was moving down, the stairs were moving, and people were crowded together. Before she knew it, she had lost track of the team.

But she was not panicked at all.

Isn’t this a heaven-sent, wonderful opportunity to find a surprise in the fourth-floor corridor!
