Chapter 220: War and Chaos (I)

Chapter 220: War and Chaos (I)

"Voldemort is back!"

In the interrogation room of the Ministry of Magic, Harry, who had just recovered from his shock, told everything that happened in the cemetery:

"Peter Pettigrew, cut my arm, took my blood, brewed a potion - he resurrected -"

Everyone in the room gasped, and Dumbledore and Bones, the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, leaned forward with serious expressions.

"Jade had been hiding behind a tombstone, and she rushed out to duel with him - the pot exploded, and Voldemort turned into a huge baby -"

"Petiger ran away with Voldemort, and you finally came--"

Several Aurors present twitched their fingers nervously. Everyone listened to Harry's narration quietly, except Fudge:

"Nonsense! A fourth grader, dueling?"

Jian Yu frowned. She had already discovered that the minister was not willing to accept the fact that Voldemort had rebuilt his body. She pointed to the wand in front of her:

"Here's his wand. I think that will serve as proof."

But Fudge shouted, still pretending that Voldemort did not exist:

"His wand disappeared thirteen years ago. It's very likely that Peter Pettigrew stole it—"

Director Amelia Bones and the Aurors all frowned. Ms. Bones cleared her throat and said to Fudge:

"Cornelly, I think Peter Pettigrew, Barty Crouch, Voldemort's wand, and the cauldron fragments at the scene are enough to explain the problem."

"Harry Potter and Jade Jane were transported away from Hogwarts by an illegal Portkey. You should have seen it with your own eyes."

Fudge's face flushed red, and he said angrily:

"But I can't believe what these two children say! Especially this girl, Crouch said that she had a connection with the Death Eaters-"

"In my opinion, it must be those two Death Eaters colluding with her!"

No one present could believe his argument. Stared at by everyone with distrustful eyes, Fudge was sweating profusely:

"Since he said duel, we just need to check the wands."

He walked over to Jane, and she thought he would pick up Voldemort's wand in front of her and examine it -

But she didn't expect that he didn't dare to even look at the wand, as if it was some kind of monster. Instead, he suddenly reached out and pulled out her own wand from her pocket!

Jian Yu was shocked!

She never imagined that the Minister of Magic would behave like this in front of so many people!

I'm afraid he was frightened out of his wits!

Next time she must tie a strap around her wand and hang it around her neck to prevent it from being lost!

"Flashback spell!"

A dim, green light burst out from the tip of the wand!

Everyone in the audience stood up in shock, and Dumbledore's eyes hidden behind his glasses suddenly widened.

"It's the Killing Curse!" Fudge roared as if he had found someone to attack. "What else is there to explain? Using the Killing Curse is illegal! I can put you in Azkaban!"

Dumbledore stood up immediately, walked over to Fudge, took Jane's wand and checked it:

"This is just an unfinished killing curse. It has not been used on anyone. The accusation that you have committed a crime is not valid."

Fudge was still making a fuss, but Dumbledore had obviously lost his patience. He pinched Voldemort's wand between his fingertips:

"Flashback spell!"

It was the same green light, but its brightness was dimmer than Jian Yu's.

"It is not illegal for an underage wizard to recklessly try to cast a spell when his life is threatened," Director Bones retorted. "It is excusable."

"I think it is acceptable for Miss Jane to take measures to protect herself when the other party casts the killing curse first."

Even though there was overwhelming evidence before everyone, and even the Aurors present had basically believed that Voldemort had returned—

But Fudge still refused to accept it.

"Impossible - there is no such thing as resurrection from the dead - ridiculous -"

"Think about it with your brains. If the mysterious man is resurrected, how can these two children come back?"

Jian Yu realized that no one could wake up a person who was pretending to be asleep.

Voldemort could come back, but he couldn't come back on Fudge's watch.

He would not accept it unless he saw Voldemort standing in front of him with his own eyes.

The scene reached a stalemate. Fudge seemed to be separated from the others into two worlds. Director Bones broke the silence:

"Connelly, take a break. We have two more suspected criminals to interrogate later."

Fudge nodded his head, and as if the nerves controlling the movement of his legs were severed, he stumbled out the door.

......

After Fudge left, Director Bones did not leave.

She walked over to Jane Yu and Harry and looked at Dumbledore with a serious expression.

"He won't believe it," she said firmly. "I know Connelly."

Dumbledore looked calm, perhaps because he had already realized that he and Fudge had already embarked on different paths:

"There will always be someone who can see the situation clearly, and I will act according to my own will."

Bones did not respond, seeming to be thinking about something, the expression on her face was determined and intimidating.

But when she looked down at Jian Yu, she tried to smile.

Perhaps because she is engaged in trial work every day, her choice of words and sentences is often straightforward:

"You shattered Voldemort's cauldron? By shattering it into pieces?"

Jian Yu nodded.

"Drying his potion?" she said in a deep voice, with great interest. "With a special fire?"

Jian Yu continued to nod.

"He turned into a baby the size of an adult? I mean, he didn't acquire a normal human body?"

Jian Yu continued to nod.

"And you fought him and Peter Pettigrew with the Killing Curse?"

Jian Yu almost had a concussion.

Director Bones raised her thick eyebrows, her eyes full of approval:

"Amazing. Very brave, you did something that no adult could do. Do you plan on being an Auror in the future?"

"Ahem." Dumbledore interrupted the conversation, "I need to consider this child's future path more."

Bones nodded in understanding and continued:

"My niece, Susan, told me many stories about you. I thought she was exaggerating out of admiration, but I didn't expect that to be the case."

"And Gemma, she's very capable, I've transferred her here to be my assistant - she often mentions you, she says you're much better than her."

She then looked up at Dumbledore and said to him:

"You have a good child, Albus, and I believe what she says."

"In this case, we only have one common enemy."

Dumbledore looked at her steadily, as if he had not expected to gain the support of the Director of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement:

"Amelia, what do you mean—"

A ray of light flashed across Bones's lenses:

"He's back but he's very weak and now is the best chance."

"Without the Minister's instructions, I cannot act publicly. But the Aurors under my command are allowed to act privately."

Dumbledore held out his hand to her and shook it.
