Chapter 238 The Third Project (Part 2)
The two ran for about 50 meters and stopped at the first fork.
"Ahem... Northwest... The trophy is in the northwest..." Harry, who was suddenly pulled to run, almost choked to death by his own saliva, "We have to choose a path!"
Jian Yu glanced at the two paths. They were both dark and he couldn't see the end clearly.
But according to her intuition, no matter which path she chose, she would encounter the monsters in the first level.
Maybe it was the monster that was given the enraged buff by the three brave warriors who rushed in front.
In order to turn the plot around, Jian Yu was forced to think.
She felt that whether she turned left or right, it would be unlikely that she would catch up with the others and let Harry win.
She decided to follow the mermaid's advice.
Thinking of the trophy in her heart, she took the conch hanging around her neck and put it to her ear...
"forward..."
She looked up at the tall, dense hedge ahead.
There is no road? Is this advanced navigation broken?
Jian Yu patted the conch in disbelief and put it to his ear again, but got the same answer.
"forward..."
She spent a few seconds thinking about this question, and finally realized it -
Maybe the mermaid navigation gives the straight-line distance instead of the walking distance!
It seems that she can only overcome all obstacles.
"Harry, have you ever heard of a famous Muggle saying?"
Harry gave him an expectant and puzzled look.
Jian Yu pointed to the dense hedge and made up his mind:
“The shortest distance between two points is a line.”
"What's a line segment?" Harry opened his mouth wide. Obviously, this was beyond his comprehension. "I feel like this sounds very Arithmancy...?"
Jian Yu, who often felt that the quality of mathematics education among British wizards was inadequate, sighed.
She decided to give up discussing math with Harry, who couldn't even memorize his multiplication table.
"In short, let's take a shortcut. I don't want to run around in this place where I don't know where a boss might pop out."
After making the conclusion, Jian Yu decisively took physical measures.
She casually broke off a branch from the hedge, pointed the tip of her wand at it, and said:
"Transfiguration!"
As she chanted the spell, the branch suddenly turned into a sharp logging axe!
Picking up the axe, she chopped at the hedge in front of her in a standard lumberjack posture.
"Wow--" Harry stared at the gap in front of him, uttered an unconscious exclamation, and squeezed through easily.
He was getting better and better at flattering others, and he looked at Jian Yu cleverly. He quickly took the axe from Jian Yu and said confidently:
"Let me do it, I'm good at this!"
Jian Yu gave him the axe and conjured up a pair of large scissors, and the two of them began to work hard.
They hacked their way toward the center of the maze.
They could hear the sound of spells being chanted in the distance, the sound of fighting with magical animals, the sound of panic running...
But the noise has nothing to do with them anymore, and the only thing left in the world is work.
The two of them quickly reached the central circle of the maze.
“This is the first time I feel that working is such a joyful thing!”
Harry sighed as he swung the axe happily, feeling his tense mood completely relax.
He even had time to pay attention to the scenery in the maze. The gloomy and foggy sky had turned into a romantic misty rain in his mind. The fresh scent of the trees he smelled was better than any perfume, and the sound of branches rubbing against each other in his ears turned into a moving melody.
Not having to face those scary monsters made the whole game feel like a vacation for him.
"This is really great. We don't go the usual way, so we probably won't run into those things!"
Jian Yu opened his eyes wide, and an ominous premonition fermented in his heart.
The protagonist's mouthful of poisonous milk set this flag...
She couldn't help but stop pruning the branches.
The next second, as Harry chopped down the axe -
A woman's face suddenly popped up!
Harry was so scared that he sat down on the ground, and Jian Yu couldn't help but take a step back.
She breathed a sigh of relief when she saw its resemblance to the Sphinx.
"It's the Sphinx."
It was obviously frightened by the two people who did not follow the usual path. It jumped up with all four legs off the ground, arched its body and exhaled.
Fortunately, it still remembered what its duty was. It paced back and forth hesitantly, with confusion in its eyes:
"The direction of the people coming is inconsistent with the plan... The rules do not apply to them. I shouldn't ask questions... But I really want to ask... It feels like there are claws scratching my heart..."
"If you don't want to go out, don't go out." Jian Yu made a prompt decision and forced the separated hedges to close. "Let's take another route."
But when she and Harry cut a new gap again, the face of the Sphinx appeared in front of them again.
"Surprise!"
She closed the hedge expressionlessly, but the Sphinx seemed to be competing with her and continued to poke its face out from the next gap.
Intelligent creatures are difficult to deal with.
"It's very close! I'm right here on the shortest way!"
Its big paws made the grass rustle. Apparently, its excessive desire to ask questions had exploded because no one had satisfied it for so long, and it began to use various means to tempt the two to answer riddles.
"Since you want me to answer a question." Jian Yu lost his patience, "You have to answer my question first. If you answer it correctly, I will answer yours."
The Sphinx tilted its head and thought for a moment, tapping the grass with its tail:
"Sounds like a fair deal, I like puzzles."
"As long as you like it." Jian Yu said, "Which came first, the chicken or the egg?"
The Sphinx's brain went into a state of shutdown. It lay on the ground, holding its head with its two front paws, and the program in its brain began to loop infinitely.
"Ah - a truly wise man! How can there be questions that even the Sphinx cannot answer! My wisdom and knowledge - are all ruined!"
It was heartbroken and covered its face with its two front paws and started crying.
It looks like it won't like puzzles anymore.
Taking this opportunity, Jian Yu and Harry quickly bypassed it and cut through the bushes one after another.
"Why are there so many dirty spider webs?" Jian Yu pushed the spider webs and spider eggs aside with disdain. "Haven't you cleaned it for a month? I think there are spiders crawling all over me."
But the spider did not crawl out, and they encountered no obstacles.
When they cut through the last hedge, the glittering golden trophy beckoned them ahead.
"Okay." Jian Yu breathed a sigh of relief and stopped. "It's just in front, Harry, go get it."
Feeling that she had completed her mission, she drew her wand and was about to emit red sparks to show her exit, but she noticed that Harry's eyes were full of fear when he looked behind her.
"Spider-! Get out of the way-!"
As Harry shouted, Jian Yu felt a huge force coming from behind, and something hit her back hard!
The next second, there was a crisp sound of a robe being torn apart, her sight became higher, and she flew out uncontrollably, getting closer and closer to the shining trophy under the influence of the force—
She was knocked straight into the trophy!
