Chapter 273 Act of Resistance
Umbridge, who is hated by everyone, is ugly, but she thinks beautifully.
She imagined herself as the queen of this school all the time. She hummed a little tune while counting the number of people in the morning self-study class.
It’s a pity that Jian Yu won’t make her dream come true.
She had previously refused to attend any occasion where Umbridge was present and ignored all possible punishment options.
But Umbridge seemed to enjoy ruling the school and was reluctant to give her the notice of expulsion.
Jian Yu had no choice but to raid her office during morning self-study, unleashing multiple thunder explosions while pulling down all the kitten plates she had collected on the wall.
She also changed all her wizard robes into "strange clothes" that were prohibited in the student rules, in order to give Umbridge a little Muggle fashion shock.
"There's obviously someone missing from our team. Does anyone know where Miss Jade Jane has gone?"
In the hall of the modified study room, Umbridge stood beside the Slytherin table with a wry smile and asked the little snakes.
"She...why do you care so much about her?" Warrington and Mrs. Montgomery looked at each other, and the two of them quickly diverted her attention, and carried out the word "flattery" to the end, "We will be jealous! You are really working so hard, we are all worried about your health-"
The two of them specially gave Umbridge a plate with a ribbon tied around it and a moving Persian cat painted on it as a gift.
Although they all had smiles on their faces, they were already as anxious as ants on a hot pan inside.
Because Umbridge has announced that if Jane Yu doesn't show up again, she will be expelled from school.
"Oh, you two are really thoughtful." Umbridge smiled and her voice became even more coquettish. "Although as a senior deputy minister, I should not accept these gifts, but since they are from my favorite students, I will hang them on the wall of my office."
Warrington and Mrs. Montgomery used sweet words to try to divert her attention and delay the morning self-study session as long as possible.
Their fancy flattery and sweet words made all the students in the auditorium lose their concentration on reading. They all looked at them with contempt and laughed at them in low voices.
From the other three long tables, there were sounds of spitting and talking. It seemed that the reputation of the two had been ruined.
But no matter how much Umbridge laughed, after a while, her attention returned to the thorn in her side.
"Mr. Warrington, Mr. Montague, I appoint you as my secretaries to temporarily manage the order here for me." Her face turned cold, "I am going to punish this student who violated the rules--"
But before she could finish her words, the tightly closed door of the auditorium was blasted open by the spell with a deafening sound.
The loud noise drew everyone's attention to the door, and they could clearly see the person standing behind it.
That was Yu Jian!
But their eyes had never been so surprised, because she was wearing a loose white T-shirt that only Muggles would wear, hanging lazily on her body; on her lower body, she was wearing a pair of jeans that had several large holes in them and were deliberately made to look old, and her trouser legs were casually rolled up, revealing her ankles; on her forehead was a brightly colored headband, her hair was tied into a high ponytail, and she was wearing a baseball cap.
Her body was covered with jewelry that was not allowed by school rules: there were two exaggeratedly large round earrings on her ears, and seven or eight thick and thin gold chains crisscrossed on her chest, which swayed and collided with each other as she walked; there were four or five jingling bracelets on her wrists; a pair of sunglasses on her nose covered most of her face, and only her slightly upturned lips showed her disdain for Umbridge.
She put her hands in her pockets, walked with the wind, a pile of kitten plates floating behind her, and seemed to have no idea what her opponent was.
This is very different from the standard black wizard robes worn by all the students in the hall!
In fact, even when there was no strict requirement from Umbridge, wizards often changed into different styles of exquisite wizard robes and did not dress like Muggles; even in the eyes of Muggle students, this set of dress was at the forefront of the times.
This made everyone open their mouths wide. Some people were very curious, some found it incredible, and others found it absurd and weird.
Maybe everyone has different ideas, but the only thing that is the same is——
Secretly mixed in with those chaotic thoughts was a bit of envy for her unruly behavior, breaking of traditions, and courage to protest against Umbridge.
"Ooo ...
The equally 'unruly' Weasley twins were the first to whistle, sparking heated discussions and applause.
"You know, we have a lot of celebrity singers over there!" The students who grew up in the Muggle world enthusiastically shared the art of dressing up with people around them, "They also like to go out like this - dressed to look cool -!"
Although the students who grew up in the wizarding world could not quite understand it, most of them chose to respect it, and they soon came to their senses.
"How touching!" Ron pinched Harry's arm, making him grimace for a moment. "She...she's a Slytherin. She can dress like a Muggle, do something that goes against the school, and fight against Umbridge on her own - Merlin, she's worthy of being called Jade!"
"Umbridge is going to be pissed off!", "She won't be expelled!", "This is the episode I support Jade the most!", "This is awesome, she broke at least fifty student rules!"...
Various laughter and praises buzzed in the auditorium, but also triggered some students to reflect.
"I'm so ashamed." Hermione pursed her lips and suddenly covered her face with her hands. "I come from a Muggle family, but I didn't stand up like Jade against a professor who advocates pure-bloodism and is cruel."
As soon as these words came out, the students from Muggle families or half-blood students sitting around her fell silent. They were the main force being punished these days.
The little Slytherin snakes frowned, but their dissatisfaction was not directed at Jane Yu, but at Umbridge.
A noble wizard from Slytherin was forced to dress up as a Muggle to fight back against the unfair treatment he had received.
This makes them feel deeply their own weakness in the face of power, and a complex mixture of guilt, anger, depression and pain.
"Merlin - what has she done to Jade!" Daphne wiped her tearful eyes sadly, "I was wondering why she disappeared, and this is the reason - she was forced to fight back wearing Muggle clothes -"
"This is all because of Umbridge." Theodore said coldly, with suppressed hatred in his tone, "Jade is standing up for everyone!"
"I feel humiliated." Blaise clenched his fists. "I don't know why, but I feel like hitting someone—"
Draco was mumbling something, as if he was writing a text in his mind on how to complain to his father.
Amid the noisy noise, Jian Yu took off her sunglasses and looked into Umbridge's eyes.
When their eyes met, she could see the smile on her face disappear, and the pleasure of conquering others and humiliating students also disappeared, replaced by anger at having her authority challenged, helplessness at being out of her control, and undisguised hatred for her as a stumbling block.
This is exactly what Jian Yu wanted to see.
She waved her hand, and all of Umbridge's treasured kitten plates flew over her head.
"What are you doing?" Umbridge's sharp voice rarely revealed panic, "I tell you, put them down, otherwise you will be expelled! How dare you sneak into my office and destroy my treasured things--"
Jane Yu smiled, and the plates lost the support of the spell and fell to the ground with a crackling sound, breaking into pieces. The sharp edges cut small cuts on Umbridge's exposed skin and face, causing her to cover her face and scream in shock.
"Okay, put them down, Professor."
"No--!" Umbridge fell to the ground, squirming her fat body to try to repair the plates.
She seemed to have forgotten that she was a wizard. She threw her wand, which was as short as her, on the ground and used her hands to collect the fragments.
The kind-hearted Jian Yu moved his fingers again, and the fragments and powder on the ground disappeared, leaving the auditorium clean.
"I'm a good student." She shrugged. "How can I let the professor clean the room himself?"
Umbridge screamed again, her eyes darting across the ground in disbelief.
After a minute, she slowly climbed up from the ground. Her eyes were a strange blood red, and the bloodstains on her face were shocking, as if a big boss in some kind of rule-based horror story was about to use a big move.
Jian Yu had never seen such deep hatred in a person's eyes, as if the man wanted to cut her into pieces.
For the first time, she heard Umbridge's delicate voice turn into a rough and hoarse voice:
"Jade Jane, you are fired."
