Chapter 24
I had a great time in the fourth grade with Albus by my side. I could ask him anything I didn't understand in class when I got back to the dormitory. There was almost no question he didn't know.
I could go out for a night stroll with him at night. Thanks to his spell, we were never discovered by Filch. Under Albus's leadership, we almost visited every corner of Hogwarts.
Especially the observatory, Ayala had no idea how many times she had been here, and here Albus told her almost everything he remembered.
He held her hand and danced with her, and used magic to create flowers that would never wither under the moonlight. Ayala had no choice but to use a special box to hold the flowers he gave her.
Today is Hogsmeade Day. Ayala combed her hair in front of the mirror and turned to ask:
"Will you come with me?"
Albus nodded. She had deliberately chosen an empty compartment and locked the door to prevent anyone from seeing her talking to air.
Looking at Albus, Ayala suddenly remembered the man she saw in the Mirror of Erised, it was Albus.
This was her first time at Puddifu's Tea House. She had often heard Narcissa say that it was a place where couples would go on dates. Fortunately, there were private rooms here, and after casting a spell, she and Albus could talk without worry.
Ayala only ordered a strawberry cake, and used two spoons to eat one bite each. Albus could touch everything related to her, including food, and sometimes he would follow her to class. With the company of this "friend", she felt that everything was going well.
She became visibly happier, and Lily soon noticed that this divination lesson was just that, Lily squints at her while observing the tea leaves in her cup.
"You seem very happy recently. Is there anything good happening?"
"secret."
Ayala winked at Lily as she spoke. This was the first time Lily had seen her do such a playful thing in all the time she had known her. The Divination Professor then came over, took the teacup from Lily's hand, and looked at Ayala as he spoke:
"An hour hand, a heart... I guess you'll have something very happy recently, something related to love, but... dear, cherish this year."
After she finished speaking, she looked at Ayala with pity as he walked away. What did it mean to cherish this year? This made her confused. Lily looked at her expression and comforted her.
However, she did not pay much attention to this sentence. After meeting Albus, she forgot about it. Divination is a mysterious thing. Who can say it for sure? It is better to read it from the tea leaves.
She chose to stay in school during Christmas to chat and study with Albus. Albus taught her a lot of magic he created himself, and even began to teach her how to cast spells without spells and without a wand.
She was already very skilled in spells, and this made her even more powerful. Professor Flitwick praised her countless times in class.
"Albus, do you know why I can fly without a broom?"
This question has troubled her for a long time, but people who know about it are unwilling to tell her. She doesn't know when it started, but she has begun to trust the boy in front of her unconditionally, and she believes that this person will definitely tell her.
Albus thought for a moment and said:
"I don't remember a lot of things about you clearly. I only remember that you grew up with me, my brother and sister, but... I don't remember anything else."
"Growing up together? How is that possible? You and I are decades apart."
"To be precise, you are not a living person. You exist in this world as a ghost."
How was this possible? The Hogwarts admission letter couldn't be wrong, and there were many ghosts in the castle. She was different from them. At least she could be touched by others... But she remembered that she could fly without a broom, her cold body temperature all year round, and her resistance to appearing in crowded places, and suddenly felt that Albus might be right.
Albus knew immediately what she was thinking.
"I don't know what kind of magic allows you to possess a human body, but it probably has something to do with your parents. But if they could do it, why did they die?"
"Then do you know how I died?"
Albus shook his head and said:
"I only remember our past, but I don't remember anything else. Perhaps it's because I was cast into Obliviate?"
"But Isabel is my aunt. How could she be alive now?"
"Don't you always feel comfortable around her? Maybe she's the same as you?"
Ayala held up her right hand, on which was the bracelet Isabel had given her.
"My aunt said I must never take this bracelet off. One time, I woke up and it fell to the ground. At that time, Narcissa said that my eyes were full of red bloodshot and my lips were completely white. After that, I only felt a little better after putting it on. It wasn't until my aunt gave me these two bracelets that I finally got better."
The bracelet was enchanted and was tightly wrapped around Ayala's hand. Even black magic could not remove it. Albus touched the bracelet and thought:
"Could it be that this bracelet is the reason why you have a human body? If you take it off, you will slowly turn into a ghost or return to the past?"
"I remember my aunt also had this bracelet on her hand."
Albus couldn't figure out why. Maybe it was related to the Turner family. Another reason why this family was not selected into the twenty-eight families was because the family did not like to interact with outsiders and often appeared and disappeared mysteriously. It might be because of family magic or something.
"Go to sleep. You have a final exam tomorrow."
Ayala slowly fell asleep with Albus's gentle voice, but when she woke up in the morning, Albus was not in the room. This was the first time she felt panic.
She searched every corner of the room, but only found a lily on the bedside table, a note that said "I love you", and the warmth of Albus's lips on her lips.
Ayala sat in the classroom and was in no mood to take the exam. His mind was full of Albus, his smile, his voice, and his breath.
She didn't know what she wrote on the test paper, or maybe she didn't write anything. After the test, she went back to the dormitory without even eating, and still didn't...
She searched all over Hogwarts, but he was nowhere to be found, except in the Mirror of Erised, which she hadn't figured out the last time she saw it, what was so fascinating about it, until today.
She forgot the time and sat in front of the mirror almost every moment. Although the person in front of the mirror did not exist and she could not touch him at all, this was the only way to see him.
