Chapter 7
Blake fell asleep, but Ayala couldn't sleep. She kept hearing a voice calling her name. She couldn't help it, so she put on her slippers and quietly walked out of the room.
There was no one in the lounge. She walked out of the lounge without being noticed and ran into a female ghost head-on. She looked very tired and was calling her name.
Seeing her come out, the female ghost immediately floated away, and she started running after her. However, just as she ran to the second floor, the female ghost disappeared. Then she heard Peeves' laughter...
Did Peeves and that ghost team up to mess with her? Why was she so unlucky today? Just as Ayala was about to go back, she heard another, even more terrifying sound, Mrs. Norris's cry. This meant that Filch was nearby, and the cat was coming from downstairs.
She ran upstairs and finally found an empty room that was not locked. She quickly opened the door and ran out.
There was only one mirror in the room, which looked quite beautiful. Ayala heard some sound in the room at this time, but there was nothing there.
She walked to the mirror and found something very strange. The girl in the mirror was different from now. She had grown up and was obviously several years older. There was a man standing next to her whom she didn't know. At this moment, the door opened and Ayala hurried back to look.
It's not Filch, it's Dumbledore, but this seems much more terrifying than Filch.
"I'm sorry, Professor. I was tricked out by Peeves, so I'm wandering around at night."
"Oh, that's nothing. Everyone makes mistakes. This mirror is a beautiful thing, isn't it? Mr. Black, Mr. Potter, and Mr. Lupin."
Ayala turned around and saw something even more terrifying. Three people suddenly appeared where there had been nothing. What was this? An invisibility spell?
"This mirror is called the Mirror of Erised. It allows a person to see what they desire most. The things reflected in the mirror are your desires. However, the happiest people who desire nothing can use it as an ordinary mirror."
The thing she wanted most? But she didn't know that man.
“This mirror is beautiful, but the beauty it brings you is illusory and unreal. Don’t be obsessed with it, or it will lock you up.”
"...But Mr. Principal, what I saw in the mirror was me standing with a man I didn't know. I didn't know him, so why would that be what I wanted?"
"Time will tell."
…She turned her head and looked at the mirror again, looked at the man’s appearance, and then remembered him, reddish-brown hair, blue eyes, and looked about the same age as her in the mirror, about 20 years old.
"I think you all should go back to bed."
"Good night, Mr. Principal."
She said hello to Dumbledore and went back. The journey was smooth and she didn't meet Filch, but she still couldn't sleep after lying down on the bed.
Narcissa's faint snoring made her fall asleep slowly. When she woke up the next day, it was already late. Narcissa's bed had already been made. There were two still-warm sandwiches on the bedside table, and a note next to them:
You slept so soundly that I didn't call you. Lucius and I went to Hogsmeade and won't be back until the afternoon. If the breakfast is cold, you can use the spell I taught you last time to heat it up. Good lucky.
After lunch, Ayala continued to chat with Miss Carter, a portrait she knew. Miss Carter was once a Charms professor at Hogwarts. She had great attainments in Charms and was a well-known duelling master at the time, but she died of dragon pox at the age of 34.
"Hello, Miss Carter."
"Good afternoon, little girl, thank you for coming to chat with me, otherwise I would be very bored."
"It's nothing. I'm bored too."
"Don't you have any friends?"
"Yes, but they all went to Hogsmeade."
After saying this, Ayala was stunned. When she heard the word "friend", the first people that popped into her mind were Malfoy and Black.
"Hogsmeade…I remember it."
Miss Carter began to whisper.
"I loved going there when I was a student. By the way, do you want to learn a spell today?"
"If you like."
This is another reason why Ayala often looks for her. Miss Carter knows a lot of spells, and learning next to her is much easier.
She learned two new spells, and it was time for dinner. As soon as Ayala walked into the hall, she saw Black and Malfoy. They were talking about something interesting, so she quickened her pace and walked over.
"Good afternoon, Narcissa and Lucius."
Narcissa was happy that she had finally started calling her by her Christian name, and gave her the candy she had brought her.
"Check this chocolate again."
She took Narcissa's chocolate and took a bite... seemed to have something strange in it? But it was quite delicious. Narcissa noticed her expression and smiled, then explained to her.
"This is chocolate with liquor filling. I really like it."
Narcissa spent the entire dinner discussing candy with her until they returned to the dormitory.
After returning to the dormitory, Narcissa began to pack her things. She almost turned the entire dormitory upside down, shook it clean, and then put it back. It took her two hours to finish packing. She also packed up Ayala's things. Now the place couldn't be cleaner. Ayala expressed a doubt about this.
"Why don't you use a spell? I remember there was a spell for packing up."
"Because you never know where the spell will put your things. If you put them away yourself, you can remember exactly where they are."
After saying that, she picked up a stack of books and walked out.
"I'm going to give Lucius a book."
"Book?"
"I borrowed it from my elders at home and gave it to Lucius to review. He has to take the NEWT exam this year and is very pressed for time."
Looking at Narcissa's back, she suddenly thought of a serious matter. Lucius was about to graduate this year, and Narcissa was only one year younger than him, so she would also graduate next year... and she would have to spend the next five years alone in boredom?
Ayala suddenly felt that it was a wise choice for Narcissa to introduce those pure-bloods who were about her age to her, otherwise she would not have spoken to anyone for five years.
If only she had been born earlier and been the same age as Narcissa, she wouldn't have been so bored. While she was daydreaming, Narcissa came back with a plate of sweets. They ate and talked face to face, but she couldn't drop any cookie crumbs on the ground, otherwise she would be killed that night by Narcissa, who was a severe mysophobia sufferer.
