Chapter 73 The person with the Four Nascent Souls came treading on a sky full of stars.
The next morning, before leaving, Bai also asked the waiter to prepare ten jars of chilled wine.
When these wines were taken out of the ice cellar, the jars were still covered with frost, making them look very cool.
Bai could already imagine how refreshing it would be to pull out a jar of ice-cold drink under the scorching sun in the desert and take a big gulp.
"Sir, all the wine is here. It's all made from snow-capped mountain grapes and has been buried in ice cellars for a hundred years," the waiter said enthusiastically. "Many people want to buy it but can't."
Bai tossed a bag of spirit stones to the waiter, then casually put away the wine, too lazy to listen to his sales pitch.
According to the salesperson, nothing is bad, and she can easily buy ten jars of something that others can't get. No one in their right mind would believe that, right? Surely she doesn't look stupid to the salesperson?
Stepping out of the inn, Bai took out a bamboo hat from his storage ring and put it on, which could barely block the glaring sunlight.
"Phew~ I feel a little better!" Jiao Jiao peeked out from her arms and sighed.
Bai touched her slightly hot tortoise shell. "I told you yesterday to stay at the inn and wait for me to come back, but you didn't want to."
As expected, Jiao Jiao shook her head and refused again, "No, I want to go with them. Jiao Jiao wants to protect Ye Zai."
"Alright, if you really can't stand it, just let Taihuo hold you." Bai stopped trying to persuade her; she wasn't too comfortable leaving Jiaojiao alone in the city.
Although this guy has become stronger now, he's not very bright. It wouldn't be good if he got tricked into being made into soup.
Bai walked very fast, and arrived at the city gate in just over an hour.
The city gate was bustling with activity, as dozens of small teams gathered there. Most of these people were dressed in uniform leather armor, with swords hanging at their waists, and they all had several scars on their bodies, making them look like ruthless characters.
Bai slowed his pace, lowered his hat, and twitched his ears to eavesdrop on the conversation. He roughly learned that these people were a mercenary squad from the Blazing Fire City Mercenary Guild.
One mercenary squad, composed entirely of female cultivators, was particularly eye-catching. The woman in the lead had a graceful figure, wearing a fiery red leather armor that clung to her body. Her exposed waist was slender and powerful, and her legs were straight and long. A pair of short swords hung at her waist, exuding a heroic aura.
"Fellow Daoist, are you new to Blazing Fire City?" The woman in leather armor clasped her hands in greeting. "I am Huo Lan from the Fire Fox Mercenary Team."
Bai Ye glanced at the woman who spoke, his gaze sweeping over her without lingering, and returned the greeting with clasped hands, "Bai Ye."
Behind Huo Lan, a female cultivator with a high ponytail leaned closer to her companion and whispered, "The captain has taken a liking to an outsider. But this young cultivator is indeed beautiful, with delicate skin, unlike us, who are so rough."
Bai Ye: "......"
She really wanted to say, "You guys are really rough. You don't even know how to cricket properly. People usually cricket in the background, not in front of us like this. It's very impolite, my friend."
"Um, I have something to do, I'll be going now." Bai Ye twitched the corner of his mouth, silently took half a step back, and prepared to slip away.
Just kidding, she didn't want to be dragged back to warm someone's bed for no reason. If Zhong Jiuli found out, he would be angry with her.
"Fellow Daoist, please wait." Huo Lan flashed to stop Bai Ye, a helpless smile in her eyes. "Fellow Daoist Bai, you misunderstand. I just saw that you were alone and wanted to remind you that the area outside the city is dangerous, and traveling alone may lead to unforeseen circumstances."
"Thank you for your kindness, but my companion is already waiting outside the city," Bai said casually, making up a lie.
Huo Lan gave a half-smile and a half-smile, clearly not believing it.
"Farewell." Bai Ye said and left in a hurry, as if a ghost was chasing him.
Stepping out of the city gates, without the protection of the city's defensive array, scorching heat surged in like a tidal wave.
Bai also raised his hand to press down his straw hat, looked up and gazed into the distance, and saw yellow sand filling the sky, the undulating sand dunes gleaming with a dazzling golden light under the scorching sun, and the air distorted and deformed in the heat wave.
"Phew~ It's really hot." Bai also took a deep breath and stood still for a while to adjust to the sudden high temperature before taking a step forward. After being some distance away from the city gate, her wings flapped and her figure turned into a streak of light and disappeared from the spot.
In his mind's eye, Xiao Wang adjusted the navigation route based on the map. Bai could never find the place by just looking at the lines; finding the way was something Xiao Wang had to do.
Turn west; there are sand vulture nests ahead. Go around them.
Bai adjusted his flight direction, his wings spread behind him, and couldn't help but complain, "I feel like a piece of dried meat hanging in a hot air oven. If I fly a little longer, I'll be ready to be served."
"Then Jiaojiao is the dried turtle." Jiaojiao's muffled voice came from inside the clothes. The little turtle's voice was weak and feeble, and it looked rather pitiful.
"Taihuo, you stay with Jiaojiao and help her block it." Bai also took the little Taihuo off her hair and put it in her arms.
Jiaojiao held the jade-like hairpin, feeling the chill emanating from it, and immediately let out a long sigh of relief.
"Little Taihuo, you're so kind. I won't bully you anymore." Jiaojiao said these sweet words without any restraint.
Bai Taihu said arrogantly, "You were never going to be able to bully me anyway."
"Do you remember what I said before?" Bai asked anxiously.
“Remember, keep your mouth shut when you encounter a cultivator,” the two replied in unison.
"Hmm." Bai responded softly, calming his mind and activating a spiritual energy barrier to block the raging fire spiritual energy from his body.
Even so, wisps of fire spirit energy still managed to corrode the spirit energy barrier and rampage through her body.
These fire elemental energies are extremely domineering; once they circulate through the body, they leave behind a trace of fire poison.
Bai also recalled the warning the grocery store owner had given him when he bought supplies yesterday.
Deep within the desert roam many lost souls. These cultivators, corrupted by fire poison and stripped of their minds, possess bodies tempered by the fire spirit year after year, making them exceptionally powerful and difficult to deal with. If you encounter a lost soul, do not engage them; simply run.
"It seems that this fire poison is indeed a double-edged sword." Bai sighed softly. She could feel that in this extreme environment, her bones and muscles had become more resilient under the tempering of the fire spiritual energy.
As the spiritual energy within his body fought against the fire poison, it became increasingly pure and refined. During this process of tempering his body and traveling, the sky gradually darkened.
The sun had just sunk into the sea of sand, and Bai hadn't even had time to marvel at the grandeur of the desert sunset when the surrounding temperature began to drop rapidly.
The white breath he exhaled instantly condensed into frost, and Bai couldn't help but shiver, retracting his wings and returning to the ground.
She dug a shallow hole in the sand dune in a sheltered spot, took out the plush blanket she had bought in advance from her storage ring and wrapped it around herself. Jiao Jiao had long since let go of the chilly little fire and instead hugged Bai Ye for warmth.
For the next few days, Bai did the same thing, traveling during the day and resting in sand caves at night. With Xiao Wang's navigation, he basically didn't encounter any danger.
Occasionally, she would encounter a few lone sand snakes or sand scorpions, or fire lizards, which would then become Jiaojiao's little snacks.
That evening, Bai finally arrived at the Crimson Flame Cave. She was in mid-air, looking down at the huge cave that was constantly spewing out crimson magma.
The cave resembled a ferocious maw, with its jagged, crimson rock walls crawling with fiery scorpions. These scorpions were as big as calves, with dark red carapaces that, without close inspection, would look like molten lava about to cool.
"Ugh, I feel like I'm getting goosebumps." Jiao Jiao shivered and rubbed her paws together.
Bai swallowed hard, staring at the cave below that looked like the entrance to hell, his mind in turmoil.
"Me too, but Jiao, I need to break through quickly and then go save my mother, so I'm not going to be human anymore!!" Bai Ye roared, grabbed Jiao Jiao and threw her downwards.
"What... Ahhh, Bai Ye, you brat!!!" Jiao Jiao's scream pierced the sky, and her small golden figure, like a shooting star, crashed into the lava pool with a splash.
Bai laughed and followed closely behind, diving in headfirst. "You always say you're older than me, so at times like this, shouldn't the older sister help me test the water temperature?"
Golden-red lava splashed several meters high, startling hundreds of Crimson Flame Scorpions resting on the rock wall. They immediately rushed towards the lava pool like a tidal wave.
The next instant, dazzling golden light erupted from the depths of the magma, and Jiao Jiao's true form appeared in the lava pool. Her golden turtle shell floated to the surface, and the golden dragon turtle shone even more brilliantly under the magma.
The terrifying pressure of the tenth-tier demonic beast swept through the entire cave like a tsunami, and the Crimson Flame Scorpions that were attacking with their tail hooks froze in place, not daring to approach any further.
"You annoying little tiger, Jiao Jiao doesn't like you anymore," Jiao Jiao said angrily.
"Thank you, Sister Jiaojiao. I'll treat you to barbecue skewers when I break through and return to the city." Bai Ye's voice came from below the lava pool.
She had already descended into the lava, and after descending about a thousand feet, the surrounding crimson lava turned into a pale gold color.
The temperature was so high that Bai Ye's protective spiritual energy began to distort, and a layer of pale golden dragon scales appeared on her body to help her resist the terrifying high temperature.
"According to the map, it should be just below here." Bai muttered as he dodged a lava eruption, his eyes gleaming with golden light as he scanned his surroundings. "Why can't I find it?"
"Hehe, we need to go down a bit more, you probably can't withstand this temperature," Little Fire transmitted telepathically.
Upon hearing this, Bai continued swimming downwards. Sure enough, after swimming a few hundred feet, her dragon scales began to emit black smoke, clearly unable to withstand the scorching heat of the lava.
"Do you need any help? Just call me 'sister,' and I'll help you." Xiao Taihuo's voice carried a hint of schadenfreude.
"What good would it do you to burn me to death? You little fool, who will take you out to play in the future?" Bai could never call this little guy "sister." Didn't she have any pride?
"Hmm...that seems to make sense. Well then, I'll help you." After Xiao Taihu finished speaking, a blue and white flame completely enveloped Bai Ye.
This flame was incredibly domineering; as soon as it appeared, the magma seemed to have encountered its natural enemy and all fled in panic.
With the protection of the Taiyin True Fire, Bai was able to continue diving downwards. After diving about a thousand feet, the scene before him finally matched the Crimson Crystal Stone Forest recorded on the map.
Countless stalactite-like red crystals stand at the bottom of the lake, with golden flames flowing inside each one—the legendary Fire Spirit Jade Marrow.
"I wonder what circumstances led the big shot who discovered this place to dive into the bottom of this lake." Bai also raised his hand to stroke the red crystal pillar, sighing with emotion.
"But I still want to thank the big boss." After saying that, Bai sat down cross-legged, formed hand seals, and began to circulate the Great Creation Scripture.
As the cultivation technique was activated, the entire Crimson Crystal Stone Forest suddenly lit up with a dazzling golden-red light, and the Fire Spirit Jade Marrow, which had been sealed for countless years, transformed into streams of light and surged towards her.
The moment the violent spiritual energy surged into his body, Bai felt as if he was almost set on fire; the spiritual energy was far too hot.
Without her intervention, the Taiyin and Taiyang fires automatically formed a Taiji vortex in her dantian, drawing the spiritual energy transformed from the Fire Spirit Jade Marrow into her dantian and integrating it into her golden core.
With so much spiritual energy flowing into his body, breaking through to the next realm was as easy as drinking water. In just a moment, a crack appeared on the surface of his golden core, and in an instant, the crack was repaired by the massive amount of spiritual energy.
Then it cracked again in the next instant, and after this cycle repeated several times, the golden core finally burst forth with brilliant light under the impact of this violent energy.
With a "crack," the golden core slowly split open, and the fragments bloomed like lotus flowers. In the dazzling light, a nascent soul the size of a palm gradually took shape.
The little figure was pure white, like jade, with features identical to Bai Ye himself. The nascent soul's eyes were lightly closed, its hands naturally forming a mudra, and its body was surrounded by the Taiyin and Taiyang fires.
Bai also looked inward at his dantian, at the small nascent soul sitting cross-legged on the lotus platform, and felt a strange sensation in his heart. It was a bit like having another child in his belly.
The nascent soul opened its eyes, its glassy pupils meeting Bai Ye's divine sense. The moment their eyes met, the nascent soul smiled and soared into the air.
With a "crack," the originally blooming golden lotus platform closed up again, transforming once more into a perfectly round golden elixir floating in the center of the dantian.
"Huh?" Bai was taken aback. "Is it not over yet?"
She looked up at the lava pool above, but did not sense the arrival of heavenly lightning. She had no choice but to continue circulating the Great Creation Scripture, absorbing spiritual energy into her body.
As the cultivation technique circulated and spiritual energy entered the body, cracks appeared on the surface of the golden core once again. This time, a snow-white tiger cub leaped out of the golden core.
As soon as the tiger cub's nascent soul appeared, it opened its little mouth and let out a soft "woof," its voice so tender and white that it almost made the cub produce milk on the spot.
Bai grinned broadly, convinced that she must be the first genius in the cultivation world to possess two Nascent Souls.
This might be related to her transmigration; her soul is human, but her physical form is a tiger, thus forming two Nascent Souls. However, the white tiger Nascent Soul that appeared this time is quite different from the white tiger Dharma form that appeared during her Foundation Establishment stage.
Before she could finish reveling in her joy, the golden core closed up again!
Bai's lips twitched slightly. At this moment, she could only be thankful that she had chosen this Crimson Crystal Stone Forest as her breakthrough site; otherwise, she might have failed due to insufficient spiritual energy.
The entire pool of crimson crystal stone forest was almost drained, because next, a black dragon nascent soul flew out from the golden core.
When the black dragon's nascent soul appeared, Bai seemed to hear muffled thunder rumbling in the sky.
However, what appeared next was the shadow of that small, emerald-green tree. As soon as the tree appeared, it almost occupied Bai Ye's entire dantian, forcing the little black dragon and the little tiger Xiao Bai Ye to climb up the tree to play.
“Little Green… The White Tiger Nascent Soul is formed from my bloodline, and the Black Dragon Nascent Soul is formed from the Dragon Pearl, but how did you manage to sneak in?” Bai also poked the little green seedling with his divine sense.
A tree-shaped Nascent Soul is too strange. When you fight someone, will you release a tree-shaped Nascent Soul Dharma Image to smash them?
Huh?? Thinking about it, it seems pretty exciting.
Little Green rolled her eyes. "You little brat, you're really getting the better of me and then acting innocent. Go out and ask around, who else in this world can condense four Nascent Souls?"
Bai thought about it and agreed. Having multiple Nascent Souls meant having more lives. Not only did she possess a human-shaped Nascent Soul, but she also had two divine beasts by her side. In the future, when she went out to fight, she would have a dragon on her left and a tiger on her right, and she could even hold a small sapling in her hand. Just thinking about it made her very happy.
"Don't be so happy, your tribulation is coming," Little Green warned. "Don't be careless, this tribulation is not easy to pass."
Bai also looked up upon hearing this and could clearly feel the terrifying pressure emanating from the heavens.
"No, I have to go up."
If this lightning tribulation were to erupt underground, the entire Crimson Crystal Stone Forest would likely be destroyed.
The Void Escape Technique was activated, and the surrounding space rippled like water. The next moment, Bai Ye's figure appeared thousands of feet in the sky.
Although she has not yet survived the tribulation of lightning, she has already reached the Nascent Soul stage, and this breakthrough is enough for her to return to the ground using the Void Escape Technique.
Above the sky, the thunderclouds were not very large, and could even be described as small, a tiny cloud only about ten feet in diameter.
However, the oppressive aura emanating from it was truly terrifying. Even Jiao Jiao could not withstand this oppressive aura and fled more than a hundred miles away early on.
"What...what kind of lightning is this?" Bai also felt her throat was a little dry. This lightning seemed to want to strike her to death.
“The Thunder of Annihilation.” Little Green’s voice was somewhat solemn. “It is dedicated to slaying those who defy the heavens. It seems that the Heavenly Dao does not want you, little tiger, to leave the desert alive.”
As if in response to Xiao Lü's words, as soon as she finished speaking, the thundercloud churned slightly, and a pale light silently drifted down.
There was no deafening thunder, no dazzling light, only a chilling silence.
Wherever the white light passed, space collapsed inch by inch; its power was beyond description.
Bai Ye's hair stood on end, every nerve screaming for danger. She suddenly shouted, "Xiao Tai Huo, run!"
A streak of light shot out from her arms, and Little Fire darted away faster than a rabbit, disappearing into the horizon in the blink of an eye. This speed of escape was probably beyond the reach of even Mahayana cultivators.
Bai also formed hand seals, and four Nascent Soul Dharma Masters appeared simultaneously.
The nascent soul of the main body held the Yin and Yang flames in her hands. With a wave of her small hand, the Tai Chi diagram formed by the two flames hung above her head, blocking the falling point of white light.
"Pfft..." Bai also coughed up a mouthful of blood. The white light was blocked by the array diagram, but even the little bit of light that escaped fell on her body, making her feel as if she had been struck by lightning.
The sapling stretched its branches and leaves behind Bai Ye, and its lush green vitality flowed into her body like water, healing her injuries almost instantly.
The first ray of white light dissipated, and the thunderclouds in the sky churned again, before another, even more solid ray of white light fell.
This time, the White Tiger Nascent Soul roared to the sky, the golden mark of the character "王" (king) on its forehead lit up, and two blazing golden beams that could pierce through the void shot out from its Golden Eyes of Truth.
Golden light and white light collided in the air, and the entire space seemed to shatter like a broken mirror.
The lingering shockwave landed on Bai Ye's shoulder, instantly slicing off a large chunk of flesh. Under the attack of the white light, that chunk of flesh was directly reduced to nothingness.
Bai staggered, blood gushing from her shoulder, but a fierce fighting spirit ignited in her eyes.
After two exchanges of blows, she had roughly figured out the limits of her opponent's attack. Since it was heavenly lightning, it couldn't be a situation where there was no chance of survival. The lightning tribulation was both a calamity and an opportunity.
"Again." Bai laughed loudly, and took the initiative to remove the protection of the Nascent Soul Dharma Image, allowing only the Black Dragon Nascent Soul to transform into a lightning domain that enveloped this world, while the other three Dharma Images returned to his body.
Another point of white light fell, and this time, Bai opened his arms, letting the white light enter his body.
The silent thunder entered her body, but Bai Ye heard a thunderous roar in her ears. She could hear the sound of her flesh burning and crumbling, and the cracking sound of her bones being burned by the white light.
Just as his physical body was about to collapse, a vast life force surged from his dantian, repairing every damaged area.
The newly formed flesh and blood became increasingly translucent, even more lustrous than the finest spirit jade. The collision of bones during reorganization produced a crisp sound like metal striking stone; this instantaneous destruction and rebirth had already completed a physical tempering.
Bai wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, his eyes shining so brightly it was almost blinding. "Indeed, my choice was right. Let's try again!!!"
Thundercloud: ...I don't know why, but even though it was just a thundercloud, it had a faint feeling of displeasure and really wanted to strike that little thing below it to death.
And He did just that; the next moment, five points of white light fell simultaneously.
"What's going on? How come so many all at once!" Bai was shocked. Before, they were coming down one by one.
Unfortunately, no one answered her question, and the points of light entered Bai Ye's body one after another.
At the critical moment, the four Nascent Soul cultivators acted simultaneously, blocking the four beams of light. Only the white light that struck the soul directly required Bai Ye to defend against it himself.
Bai Ye swayed slightly, his eyes shining like a faint firefly, as if they might be extinguished at any moment.
A tremendous wave surged within her sea of consciousness, countless fragments of memories churning within her mind—some about her mother, some about the White Tiger Tribe and the modern world, some about Zhong Jiuli, and some memories she had never seen before.
What is that...?
Bai tried hard to see clearly, but could only see a blurry scene. She seemed to have turned into a small egg, being held in someone's arms and running around. The surrounding scene was extremely blurry, and she couldn't see anything clearly.
Forget it, if I can't see clearly, I'll just give up. An irresistible weariness washed over me, as if countless voices were telling Bai Ye, "Don't insist, just sleep, and you'll find eternal peace when you sleep."
"Wake up!" Little Green's loud shout exploded in my mind, and countless green lights surged into my sea of consciousness, tightly binding my primordial spirit that was about to dissipate.
Bai suddenly opened her eyes, gasping for breath like a drowning person. Her hand trembled as she pointed to the sky, "Are you... a sore loser?"
Thunderclouds surged, and a pale white bolt of lightning crashed down. Nine is the ultimate number, and this final bolt of lightning was the strongest strike of the tribulation.
This bolt of lightning was completely different from the previous ones; its momentum was like the collapse of the sky, and each flash was accompanied by the chanting of the Great Dao echoing in the void.
The nascent soul form did not need to be activated; it flew out of the body on its own. The white tiger stood on the metal element to guard the east, the black dragon was coiled in the west, the sapling took root in the north, and the nascent soul itself was located in the south.
The four symbols descended, instantly resonating with the heavens and earth.
"The Four Symbols Return to the Origin!" Bai shouted, and four completely different powers merged perfectly at this moment, turning into a chaotic pillar of light that surged forth and enveloped her entire body.
As the white light fell, the heavens and earth trembled, and the four Dharma images instantly disintegrated under the bombardment of this power.
The violent shockwave instantly leveled the sand dunes within a radius of a hundred miles, and Bai Ye's figure fell like a meteor, crashing into the depths of the underground cave.
Above the sky, thunderclouds rolled, and the tribulation lightning that should have dissipated instead sent down an extra bolt of lightning, as if the heavens were enraged and would not rest until Bai was killed.
"You're cheating!!!" Jiao Jiao shouted angrily, her figure moving like lightning, instantly traversing the void and blocking Bai Ye's path.
Her entire body radiated golden light, and in an instant she transformed into the massive dragon turtle form, which withstood the fatal blow.
A pale bolt of lightning struck, shattering Jiao Jiao's tortoise shell and gushing blood like a fountain. Her aura instantly weakened to its lowest point, yet she still stood firmly above Bai Ye, refusing to yield an inch.
If this tribulation had not already violated the natural order of heaven, with her cultivation level, if she rashly intervened in the Nascent Soul Tribulation, she would surely have been punished by heaven and her body and soul would have been destroyed!
However, fate had other plans, and she managed to withstand it. The lightning gradually dissipated, the tribulation clouds receded, leaving only a desolate desert and the swaying yet unyielding figure of the dragon turtle.
Even the sweet rain that should have fallen after the tribulation of lightning did not appear.
"Oh dear, Jiaojiao, you're bleeding so much!" Xiao Taihuo looked helplessly at the dragon turtle covered in blood.
Jiaojiao could no longer hold on, and her body shrank rapidly, transforming back into a small turtle the size of a palm, landing in Xiao Taihuo's palm.
She shook her head weakly. "Don't cry. Go and get Yezai out first. She was seriously injured and fell into the lava pool. She'll be cooked in no time."
"Ah." Little Fire wiped away her tears, turned around and plunged into the churning lava pool. She quickly chased away the menacing Crimson Flame Scorpions, grabbed Bai Ye's arm and lifted her up.
Suspended in mid-air, Xiao Taihuo looked left at the unconscious Bai Ye and right at the dying Jiao Jiao, and asked blankly, "What should we do next?"
The only answer she received was the howling wind of the desert; dusk deepened, and the last ray of light was swallowed up.
Xiao Taihuo's eyes suddenly lit up, "That's right, Da Bai digs holes and buries himself every day."
Without hesitation, the little girl dragged the two wounded men to the ground and frantically dug a shallow pit in the sand, burying herself and Bai Yejiaojiao inside.
However, the three of them had only been lying down for a short time when a rustling sound began to echo on the sand.
"Hey, you stinky scorpion, get away from me!" Little Fire shouted angrily, a flame rising from his palm and striking the Crimson Flame Scorpion that had dug into the sand pit.
The Crimson Flame Scorpion was smashed to dust with a single blow, but more red dots surged in from all around. Little Fire was completely panicked; she was just a little baby and had no idea how to deal with such a situation.
"Waaah, Da Bai, Jiao Jiao, let's run away!" Xiao Tai Huo grabbed Bai Ye's collar with one hand and held Jiao Jiao in the other, walking slowly on the frosty sand.
Bai was dragged along like this, her back rubbing against the rough sand. The sharp pain woke her from her unconsciousness. "Cough... Little Taihuo, if you keep dragging me like this, I'm really going to die."
Upon hearing this, Bai Taihuo turned his head sharply, his chubby little face covered with tears. "Waaah, Da Bai, you're awake! There were so many bad scorpions surrounding you just now, but I chased them all away."
"Okay, don't run around in the desert, or you'll end up in a monster's lair," Bai said weakly. The last bolt of annihilation lightning had almost left her critically injured and on the verge of death.
"Then I'll dig a hole?" Little Taihu said, then abandoned Bai and started digging a sand pit with both hands.
Bai lay on his back on the sand, his vision gradually blurring.
The desert night sky is exceptionally clear, and the countless stars seem so close, almost within reach.
In a daze, she saw a familiar figure emerge in the moonlight, a person walking on a sky full of stars.
"Zhong... Jiu Li!" Bai also raised his hand with difficulty, wanting to touch that figure.
A gust of wind, seemingly out of nowhere, blew away the woman's blurry figure.
Bai's hazy eyes cleared instantly. She propped herself up and turned to look. On the horizon, a yellow wall of wind was sweeping in with overwhelming force.
Amidst the towering, yellow sand walls, countless twisted figures could be vaguely seen struggling in the wind and sand.
"Oh no, it's a sandstorm, and there are lost souls too. We have to run." Bai forced himself to stand up, grabbed the little fire that was digging the hole, and flapped its wings to fly in the opposite direction of the storm.
The moment the two of them took to the air, a hail of sand flew at them like sharp arrows, piercing their bodies. Bai let out a muffled groan, his whole body almost turned into a bloody mess.
"Hey, Da Bai, are you alright? I forgot to shield you." A cluster of blue and white flames flew from Xiao Tai Huo's palm, enveloping Bai Ye completely.
As for her own pierced body, no blood flowed out; she was the purest form of energy.
Bai flapped its wings desperately, but could not escape the approaching speed of the storm. Just as the two humans and the tortoise were about to be swallowed by the sandstorm, a soft sigh rang out in the night sky.
