Chapter 75 Kissing You, do you want to kiss me?
The candlelight flickered inside, casting a dim, yellowish glow that overlapped the two figures, elongating and blurring them, as if they were about to merge into one.
Huo Lan propped herself up, looking down at the person on the bed—this stinking tiger who so casually shared a room and bed with a strange woman.
If it weren't for her today, would this guy also be able to go back to the house with other women and be so intimate with them?
She reached out somewhat angrily, brushed aside the stray hairs on Bai Ye's forehead, stroked her brow bone, and slowly moved down to her flushed cheeks, gently pinching them.
More than a year has passed, and this face seems to have lost some of its childishness, with a more defined jawline and a touch of determination between the brows.
"You want to kiss me, don't you?" Bai suddenly asked, his voice hoarse with a hint of drunkenness.
The ambiguous eye contact between the two was broken when she suddenly spoke.
Huo Lan paused, her eyes darkening slightly. She hadn't expected that this guy would actually say such things to a woman he'd only met twice.
A nameless anger suddenly welled up inside me, and I didn't even know what I was angry about.
"No, only my wife can kiss me. You're not allowed to sleep in the bed with me." Bai Ye said, raising his foot to kick Huo Lan, not letting her get close. The kick wasn't strong, as if he was certain she wouldn't dodge.
"If you won't let me kiss you or sleep in bed with you, then why are you coming back to the room with me?" Huo Lan chuckled, grabbed the man's ankle as he kicked her, and pressed herself against him.
Bai groaned as the sudden weight pressed down on him. His hazy eyes cleared for a moment, then his aura suddenly sharpened.
Like a small animal trapped in a hunter's snare, driven to desperation, it knows that resistance is futile, yet it still struggles with all its might to try and turn itself over.
Unfortunately, Huo Lan was faster and more ruthless than her.
She gripped Bai Ye's wrist with one hand and pinched her neck with the other, the force not strong, but enough to immobilize her.
Bai's face flushed red, his breathing rapid, and he glared angrily at the woman on top of him.
"Let me go," Bai said bitterly.
Huo Lan lowered her eyes, her gaze falling on Bai Ye's slightly parted lips. Their breaths mingled, and the air was filled with the aroma of wine. "What if I don't let go?"
"What you're doing is wrong." Unable to win by force, Bai began to reason with the other party.
Huo Lan's hand, which was gripping her neck, twitched slightly, relaxing a little as she worried that the stinky tiger might not be able to breathe. "Is something wrong?"
“I don’t want to kiss you, but you insist on doing so. That goes against a woman’s will and you should be arrested and imprisoned.”
"If I'm not mistaken, your true form is a little tiger. How can you be considered a woman?" Huo Lan chuckled softly.
Bai was dumbfounded. After racking his brains for a long time, he finally managed to say, "Going against the tigress's wishes is also wrong."
"What if I insist on disobeying?" Huo Lan leaned even closer, her crimson lips about to touch Bai Ye's cheek.
"Wait, wait!" Bai shouted anxiously. "Don't do this. You may not know my wife, but you must have heard of the Three Pure Ones Sect, right?"
“My wife is the sect leader of the Sanqing Sect. If she finds out that you kissed her Daoist partner, she will definitely turn your entire Xizhou upside down and melt every grain of sand into glass.”
Huo Lan silently rolled her eyes. Was she crazy? How long would it take her to blend into all the sand in Xizhou?
She released her grip on Bai Ye's neck and instead pinched his incessantly chattering mouth. "Little drunkard, go to sleep and stop talking nonsense. If the Sect Master of the Three Pure Ones Sect were truly your Daoist partner, would he allow you to flirt with other women outside?"
"Waaah~" Bai also sobbed in rebuttal.
"Besides, even if you are just the sect leader of the Three Pure Ones Sect, or even if your Daoist partner is a goddess from the Nine Heavens, no one can stop me from doing what I want to do."
After Huo Lan finished speaking, she bent down, and just as their lips were about to touch, her palm flashed with light and covered Bai Ye's eyes.
Bai Ye, who had been able to maintain his senses, suddenly lost consciousness, and the hand that was resting on Huo Lan's shoulder fell limply to his side.
Those lips, which had remained just a hair's breadth away, finally touched. All the torment and longing of the past year was poured into this kiss that no one knew about.
The strong aroma of wine still lingered on Bai Ye's lips, making her unable to resist gently tracing it with the tip of her tongue.
"Hmm..." The unconscious person let out a soft groan, as if protesting this gentle plunder.
Huo Lan reluctantly stepped back, wiping away the glistening moisture from the other's lips with her fingertips, and softly said, "Sleep well, you little liar."
The dim candlelight in the room was extinguished. Huo Lan sat cross-legged on the edge of the bed, closed her eyes, and regulated her breathing to calm her mind.
......
The hangover was not a pleasant experience. When Bai woke up, he felt a bit groggy. The room was dimly lit, and the air was filled with the scent of calming incense, as well as a slightly unfamiliar woman's fragrance.
She blinked blankly, propped herself up on the bed, and lifted the covers to see that she was fully dressed, then breathed a sigh of relief.
[Ye Zai, you're finally awake.]
"Hmm, what time is it now?" Bai rubbed his temples, somewhat unable to recall how he got back to his room yesterday.
At 5 PM, you've slept for almost twenty hours.
"Huh? Why did I sleep for so long? Did they leave?" Bai asked anxiously. She wasn't worried about Huo Lan running away, but she was mainly afraid that Xiao Tai Huo and Jiao Jiao would be kidnapped. Those two silly girls would follow anyone as long as they were given some food.
"They haven't left. They're waiting for you here." Xiao Wang hesitated, wanting to tell Bai Ye about what happened last night.
But Bai Ye also said before that what happened while he was sleeping was not worth mentioning.
She thought it over carefully and decided it was best not to say anything. After all, her son hadn't suffered any real loss; at most, he'd just been given a small bite.
"Okay, at least they didn't leave." Bai relaxed and lay back on the bed. "The wine in this oasis is too strong. I'm a cultivator, and I still feel dizzy after a hangover."
With a creak, the door was pushed open, and the afterglow of the setting sun streamed into the room through the open door, outlining a long silhouette on the floor.
Huo Lan approached, stepping on the golden light that filled the ground. Today, she had changed into a light and thin dress, the sheer skirt swaying gently with her steps. The light blue gauze shone with a hazy glow in the golden light.
Bai was momentarily stunned. How could this woman suddenly change her style? The change was too drastic. Wasn't she the heroic and valiant captain like a thorny rose just yesterday?
Huo Lan stopped a few steps in front of the bed, looking down at Bai Ye on the bed. "If you're awake, get up and walk around. Your little girl and little turtle have been looking for you all day, as if they're afraid I'll kidnap you."
Bai also snapped out of his daze upon hearing this, lazily propping himself up on the bed to sit up, his voice still a little hoarse from just waking up, "Thank you, Fellow Daoist Huo, for taking care of them for me."
Her completely unguarded appearance angered Huo Lan. Did this stinky tiger have any sense of caution at all? Judging from her expression, she clearly didn't remember a thing from last night.
It's infuriating that someone would dare to venture out alone like that.
"No need to thank me." Huo Lan said, flicked her sleeves, and strode out of the room.
Bai watched her retreating figure and wondered to himself, "This woman's emotions change so much, could she have a split personality?"
I wonder if the concept of schizophrenia exists in the cultivation world. Could it be that those inner demons are actually a form of schizophrenia?
"Xiao Wang, tell me, is my guess reasonable?"
Whatever makes you happy.
"Wang Cuihua, you're becoming less and less adorable," Bai muttered under his breath as he stepped out of the room.
The lakeside was still bustling with activity, with many cultivators setting up stalls, and the members of the Fire Fox Squad strolling around in front of the stalls.
Bai also took a closer look, but didn't find anything interesting. She searched through the crowd and found the little girl and the little turtle who were supposedly very worried about her.
The two little ones were held in the arms of the Fire Fox team girls, their mouths stuffed with food, and they didn't seem worried about them at all.
"I heard you were worried about me?" Bai approached and took the small fire from the girl's arms.
The little girl snuggled into her arms and said, "Yes, Jiaojiao and I both went to see you, and then we stopped worrying."
She held the crabapple in her hand to Bai Ye's lips, "Da Bai, this is so sweet, do you want some?"
Bai took a bite of her hand and said, "It is indeed quite sweet. Did you sleep with those older sisters yesterday?"
"Yes, the older sisters said you went to sleep, and then they took me and Jiaojiao back to our room."
"Alright, don't run off with other people anymore. What if you run into bad guys?" Bai patiently reminded him.
"Didn't you run away with Sister Fire too?"
"That's right, that's right, and he even sleeps in the same bed with someone else. I'm going to tell Sister Zhong."
The two little ones retorted in unison.
Bai's face turned ashen; these two unlucky kids really couldn't be kept.
"Your dinner tonight is gone."
"Wow, Big White, you're torturing us! We don't want to follow you anymore!" Little Tai Huo had just started yelling when Bai Ye manually muted his mic.
"I was just kidding, don't yell. What do you want to eat? I'll buy it for you," Bai said in a low voice. She didn't want to become the parent of a bratty kid.
Xiao Taihuo's eyes lit up, and she pointed to several stalls one by one. Bai had no choice but to lead them back with a bunch of spirit fruits of various shapes.
When they returned to the lakeside with their arms full of spirit fruits, the girls of the Fire Fox Squad had already set up a campfire, on which was roasting a golden and shiny spirit sheep.
No one drank alcohol tonight, mainly because Bai refused the wine offered by Huo Lan. She didn't want to get drunk again and sleep all day for no reason.
She had to rush back to Blazing Fire City to get her sword and meet the next female lead; she didn't have time to waste with Huo Lan.
After everyone finished dinner, they went back to their rooms to rest.
Back in the room, Bai walked to the small couch by the bed and said, "I took the bed last night, so it's Fellow Daoist Huo's turn tonight."
She bent down and tidied the small couch, preparing to spend the night meditating there.
The room was quiet, and no one answered. Bai assumed the other person hadn't heard him and turned to look.
Huo Lan turned her back to her and unbuttoned her clothes. The thin gauze skirt slid down her smooth shoulders, revealing a snow-white back.
The flickering candlelight fell on her beautiful curves, adding a hazy glow to her snow-white skin, making her even more alluring.
"!"
Bai hurriedly closed his eyes and sat cross-legged on the small couch in a fluster, silently repeating in his heart, "I didn't see it, I didn't see it, I'm still innocent, I didn't do anything to wrong Zhong Jiuli."
A barely audible chuckle echoed in the quiet room.
Huo Lan slowly changed into her inner clothes, deliberately strolled over to Bai Ye's side, and asked softly, "Fellow Daoist Bai, what's wrong? Did you see something you shouldn't have?"
Bai kept his eyes tightly shut and vehemently denied it, saying, "I didn't see anything."
"Heh~ It doesn't matter if you see it." Huo Lan said, leaning closer, her loose neckline revealing a large expanse of snow-white skin as she bent over. "Sister doesn't mind."
Bai could feel the warm breath so close to her. She stiffened, like a wooden doll, and slowly moved her buttocks, trying to create distance between herself and the other person.
"Fellow Daoist Huo, please show some respect. I already have a Daoist partner."
"I know~ that high and mighty Sect Master of the Three Pure Ones Sect, right?" Huo Lan finished speaking, straightened up, and walked towards the bed.
"It seems I should stay away from you, otherwise, if the sect leader of the Three Pure Ones Sect gets angry, he might melt all the sand in our Western Continent, which would be terrible."
Bai opened his eyes and stared at Huo Lan's departing figure, lost in thought. Zhong Jiuli isn't crazy, so why is she trying to melt the sand from Xizhou?
However, as long as the woman didn't bother her, she shook her head, trying to shake the scene she had just caught a glimpse out of her mind, and closed her eyes again.
Since entering the Nascent Soul stage, a star map has appeared in her sea of consciousness. Xiao Jin said that she should study it more, as it would help her learn the ultimate move, the hand-made black hole, as soon as possible.
"Young man, don't be impatient." Xiao Jin's voice rang in your mind. "I told you before that you need to comprehend the power of the stars before you can learn to pluck stars."
Bai frowned slightly, thinking to himself, "The power of stars, the power of stars, she looks at the stars and the moon every day, but she hasn't sensed any power of stars."
All she knew was the starlight sand in the Star Sand Sea, which possessed a meager amount of stellar power. However, aside from being pretty, that sand was basically unretrievable; otherwise, it would have been dug up by cultivators long ago.
"In the path of cultivation, the greatest taboo is being impatient for quick results. You are already much faster than your peers, so why trouble yourself?" Xiao Jin's voice, like the gentle tolling of an ancient bell, reverberated in the sea of consciousness.
Bai seemed to understand something upon hearing this. She was indeed anxious and wanted to improve her cultivation as soon as possible to find her mother.
But she had encountered countless opportunities along the way, so why rush things? She took a deep breath and cleared her mind of all distractions.
The spiritual energy flowed slowly along her meridians, and gradually, her breathing entered a certain Daoist rhythm, as if resonating with heaven and earth with each breath.
On the bed, Huo Lan, who had been lying quietly, turned over and looked out the window. Bai Ye was also enveloped in starlight, seemingly lost in a state of enlightenment.
She touched her cheek. With such a beautiful woman sleeping in bed, the little tiger was actually able to immerse himself in cultivation and even had an epiphany.
Could it be that she really has no charm?
The night passed quietly.
The next day, as dawn broke, Bai also woke up from her meditation. She glanced at Huolan, who was fast asleep on the bed.
The woman lay half-on her side, her arm draped over the side of the bed. Her long eyelashes cast soft shadows beneath her eyes, and the collar of her undergarment was slightly open, revealing a deep, alluring curve due to her sleeping posture...
Bai looked away as if he had been burned, and dared not look again. He quietly got up and left the room.
The desert still carried the chill of the night in the early morning. On the distant horizon, the sun had just risen, and the sand grains shimmered with golden light in the morning glow, like scattered gold.
This magnificent scene made her understand why the ancients would always be inspired to write poetry when they traveled to the desert.
"Ah..." Bai also opened his arms, letting the morning breeze fill his sleeves, and after holding it in for a long time, he finally squeezed out a sentence, "Desert, you are so big."
A soft laugh came from behind.
Bai turned around abruptly and saw that Huo Lan had gotten up at some point.
She leaned against the door, a loose gauze skirt draped over her loose inner garment. The beauty was just waking up, her voice slightly hoarse, "Fellow Daoist Bai, you do have... fine writing skills."
Bai also gazed at the woman bathed in the morning light, feeling somewhat dazed. It seemed that Zhong Jiuli often looked at her like this as well.
Seeing Bai Ye lost in thought, Huo Lan waved her hand in front of her eyes, "What's wrong? Fellow Daoist Bai, are you... stupid?"
This movement is also very similar.
Bai silently took a step back, his brows furrowing involuntarily. This woman gave him a very strange feeling. He was certain that Huo Lan had deliberately approached him, but who exactly was she?
If it was Zhong Jiuli in disguise, how could she have assembled such a well-coordinated mercenary team in just a few days?
Even after leaving the oasis, Bai still couldn't figure out who they were.
"You've seemed down these past few days. What's on your mind?" Huo Lan sat down beside her and handed her a piece of fragrant roasted jerky.
Bai also took the dried meat. Their fingertips accidentally touched, and she quickly withdrew her hand as if she had been electrocuted. She subtly created a slight distance between herself and Huo Lan, and casually asked, "How many more days until we arrive?"
Huo Lan glanced at the distance between them and replied, "If nothing unexpected happens, we should arrive by noon tomorrow."
She tilted her head back and took a sip of her drink. "Can't wait to break up with me?"
Bai didn't reply, just mechanically chewed the jerky.
Huo Lan remained silent, and they sat side by side on the sand dune, watching the sunset fade and the stars light up the night sky one by one.
They didn't return to camp to rest until the chill of the air caused frost to form on their bodies.
The next day at dawn, the group set off again. At noon, they finally arrived at the legendary Starfall Battlefield.
Bai stared blankly at the unremarkable sand pit in front of him and said, "What kind of opportunity could there be in this place?"
Huo Lan chuckled and took out a token engraved with star patterns from her bosom. "If the opportunity were laid out in the open, would we still be here?"
As she spoke, she handed the token to Bai Ye, "Go in. Only those with the token can enter."
Bai also took the token, and could faintly sense the mysterious power emanating from it. She looked at Huo Lan and asked, "And what about you?"
"Go in, your sister has more." Huo Lan pressed down on her shoulder and pushed her directly into the sandpit.
Bai felt a sudden dizziness, as if he had been swept into a time-space turbulence, with whistling winds in his ears and aurora-like bands of light before his eyes.
After a long while, Bai finally felt herself stepping on the ground. She looked around; it was a strange space.
The sky was purplish-red, a deep, almost blackish purple with a faint hint of red, and the light was extremely dim.
More light comes from meteorites that float in the air like hot air balloons, with meteorites of different colors and sizes slowly rotating in the air.
Bai looked down at his feet, where he saw another meteorite. However, this meteorite seemed to be dead, its color dark black, covered with cracks, and magma could be seen churning in the cracks.
"How is this meteor battlefield?"
Bai also turned his head to look at the woman who appeared beside him.
Huo Lan raised her hand, her fingertips touching Bai Ye's cheek, and pushed her head forward. "Don't look at me, look at those."
Bai also turned his head following her lead, looking at the meteorites floating in the air. "What happened to those planets?"
“There are good things on these planets.” After saying that, Huo Lan grabbed Bai Ye’s arm and flew her into the sky.
The planets that seemed so close were actually extremely far away. It took the two of them several hours to finally land on the surface of the nearest planet.
Bai looked at the land beneath his feet. It was empty and desolate, with no monsters, no flowers, trees, or grass. It was just a barren wasteland.
She looked at Huolan and asked, "What's next?"
Huo Lan pointed to the planet beneath her feet, her twin swords appearing in her hands. "Next, do it like this."
She leaped into the air, her two swords crossed in front of her chest.
Bai also stared wide-eyed at the woman in the sky. In that instant, it seemed as if the power of thousands of stars was gathering on her blade.
After the light reached its peak, Huo Lan swung her sword down.
The cross-shaped blade of light descended from the sky with immense force. The light was so dazzling that Bai had to raise his hand to shield his eyes. Even without looking, he could feel the sharp blade intent rushing towards him.
The moment the blade struck, the ground beneath their feet trembled violently. The entire meteorite, like a fragile egg, shattered into pieces under this attack.
Bai also quickly took flight, hovering in mid-air. Looking at the cracked planet below, she felt that her judgment of Huo Lan was correct.
A woman with a serious illness.
The next moment, dazzling light leaked out from the crack, followed by a deafening roar.
A colossal beast resembling a Qilin burst forth from the depths of the star's core. Its massive size, as large as a mountain, was composed entirely of flowing starlight. In this dim environment, the starlight emanating from the beast shone with unparalleled brilliance.
The giant beast glared angrily, opened its mouth and spat out a burning star, which hurtled towards the two of them with a long tail of flame.
Bai dodged aside, and the large star, trailing a fiery tail, crashed into other meteorites floating in the air. With a deafening roar, the scorching shockwave sent countless floating star rocks flying.
"Fellow Daoist Bai, stop daydreaming! Kill this star beast, and the opportunity lies within." Huo Lan's voice came from afar.
The two were separated by the enormous beast, one on each side. Bai narrowly avoided the beast's swung claws and landed on a floating star rock. "You should at least explain what you want to do!"
"It's been acting all mysterious since it came in, and then it suddenly went crazy and started chopping up the planet, releasing a giant beast. This thing is obviously very strong, okay?" Bai shouted through gritted teeth.
Perhaps her voice was too loud and attracted the attention of the giant beast, for it suddenly turned its head to look at her and spat out another large star from its mouth.
Bai quickly leaped into the air to avoid the impact of the giant star. However, a gust of wind swept past him as the giant beast's long tail swept towards him at an almost superhuman speed.
"You actually know how to use feints!" Bai exclaimed in surprise, hastily conjuring a lightning-fast longsword in his palm to parry.
The Thunder Sword collided with the Long Tail, and Bai felt a tremendous force strike him, sending him flying backward like a kite with a broken string.
The giant beast pressed its advantage, realizing that Bai was the weaker of the two and decided to eliminate her first.
Just as the giant beast's claws were about to strike Bai Ye, Huo Lan instantly appeared in front of Bai Ye, unleashing a massive blade of light with her sword, sending the giant beast flying backward.
Huo Lan reached out and wrapped her arms around Bai Ye's waist, holding her tightly in her embrace.
"Are you alright?" The voice was slightly anxious, filled with undisguised concern.
"Cough cough, it's nothing serious." Bai coughed lightly, swallowing back the blood that had already reached his mouth.
The giant beast was quite powerful; its attack just now definitely possessed the strength of a Nascent Soul cultivator. Bai was caught off guard and suffered some injuries.
Fortunately, she had her own healer; green light flowed from her dantian, quickly repairing her injuries.
Huo Lan, with Bai Ye in her arms, landed on a floating star rock. "It was my carelessness. You stay here and watch over it. I'll go and deal with that star beast."
She turned to leave after speaking. Bai grabbed her arm and asked, "Why did you provoke that giant beast? Is it guarding some treasure?"
"In this Starfall Battlefield, every suspended, ruined star is inhabited by star beasts, and these star beasts are formed from the purest stellar power."
Huo Lan explained, "The star core that is being nurtured within its body is what we need."
Bai's eyes gleamed with golden light as he tried to see through Huo Lan's true nature. "You...how did you know I needed the power of the stars? Who exactly are you?"
