Chapter 92 Buying the Money
Li Yang stood there for a while before she came to her senses.
The feeling of being pointed at by Cen Yan with an arrow still lingered in her body; her heart was pounding and she couldn't calm down for the time being.
But being pointed at wasn't the worst part; the worst part was that he actually thought Cen Yan would actually make a move.
The look in the other person's eyes at that moment was devoid of any warmth.
I've never seen Cen Yan like this before, and the thought still sends shivers down my spine.
"Sixth Prince, are you alright? Is there anything you need?"
Once they found Zhuang Dongqing, a group of people gathered around him, with Hao San guarding him. Only then did Xu Si turn back to find Li Yang. Regardless of anything else, he was still a prince. It was one thing for his master to offend him, but the Dingxi Prince's Mansion couldn't afford to be negligent.
Xu Si softened his voice and said as gently as possible, "My master was very worried after the young master went missing. If there is anything I have done wrong, I hope that Your Highness will be understanding, considering that the Prince's Mansion arrived in time."
After thinking for a moment, he added, "You and the young master have both been taken away, and the Hangzhou government offices are in such a state that you need to make decisions everywhere. In the past two days, you haven't slept for more than a few hours in total while planning the rescue."
It wasn't until Li Yang heard the second sentence that she realized Xu Si was saying nice things.
Li Yang: "Is there any water? I'd like to have a drink of water."
"Please wait a moment."
Xu Si took a clean water bag off the horse and handed it to Li Yang.
His maidservant was also found, along with the man who had led them out. The girl had been somewhat stunned when she saw Cen Yan draw his bow, but now that the crisis was over, she reacted and ran forward, her eyebrows furrowed as she looked at Xu Si warily.
Li Yang asked Xu Si to get water bags for the brother and sister as well, whispered a few words of comfort, and then went to see Zhuang Dongqing.
When he arrived, Cen Yan had just put his arm around the person and was signaling his men to treat the wound.
Perhaps she was truly exhausted. From a distance, Zhuang Dongqing looked disheveled, half-carried by Cen Yan, her face obscured. Her right shoulder was completely soaked in blood, a large, stained patch that was shocking to behold.
Li Yang looked closely and thankfully, no arrow had pierced his body; he must have been grazed by a stray arrow.
The clothes were torn open, and Li Yang fell silent again.
The wound is deep.
The girl followed, and seeing everyone surrounding Zhuang Dongqing, she realized something and immediately fell silent.
She turned to look at her brother and saw a hint of relief in his eyes.
"Should we go back to rescue the gentleman and the others?"
The girl asked softly.
Six people were captured on the mountain. Apart from the three of them, the remaining three were all retainers of the Sixth Prince. Even though she had only followed Li Yang for a few days, she knew that Mr. Hu was definitely a capable strategist by Li Yang's side.
“The Prince’s mansion didn’t bring many people today, and the young master is injured. If the Sixth Prince insists on turning back to rescue him, I’m afraid we’ll have to part ways.” Xu Si said with a smile, but his words were cold.
The girl choked for a moment, then said somewhat unhappily, "Didn't you come here to rescue us?"
Xu Si didn't argue with her, and instead said, "We came to rescue the Sixth Prince and the young master, and now they've both been rescued, haven't they?"
"but……"
The man pulled the girl aside, interrupting her.
Li Yang thought for a moment and said seriously, "There are still people in my household who are trapped on the mountain."
Xu Si: "This time, we only came to the Prince's mansion at night in order to be quick, and we didn't bring many people. If we have a direct confrontation, we may not be able to leave safely."
Those who needed saving had already been rescued; the few remaining on the mountain were no longer worth the risk of the Prince's elite troops taking.
Li Yang also thought of this, and couldn't help but purse his lips. He wasn't very convinced by Xu Si's statement, but he also knew that among the people who were kidnapped, he and Zhuang Dongqing were probably the most important. The others were not considered by the Prince's Mansion.
As they spoke, Zhuang Dongqing had already finished bandaging the wound.
Cen Yan didn't rely on anyone else, nor did he shy away from Li Yang. He directly lifted Zhuang Dongqing onto his horse and said without hesitation, "Let's go back."
Li Yang wanted to speak, but when Cen Yan's gaze swept over him, he realized something, his pupils contracted, and he froze on the spot.
After that one glance, Cen Yan said coldly, "Those who don't want to leave, stay. Time is short, line up."
"yes."
"yes."
Having said that, Li Yang and her siblings had no choice but to leave with Cen Yan and his group.
Zhuang Dongqing felt unwell the whole way. He didn't know if it was because he met up with Cen Yan and was completely relaxed, but he became very sleepy.
As if knowing they were safe, all their vigilance vanished.
"There's a carriage down the mountain, just bear with this part of the journey."
Before riding his horse, Cen Yan spoke softly to Zhuang Dongqing.
Zhuang Dongqing nodded. "Mm."
Unable to resist, he asked again, "You came so quickly, it must have been a lot of work planning this out, right?"
Cen Yan: "It was hard to get out without you. Don't talk, we're about to have to run fast."
"good."
Zhuang Dongqing relaxed and leaned against Cen Yan's chest, feeling weak all over. Cen Yan controlled the horse with one hand and held him by the waist with the other, keeping him steady while the horse was very obedient under his control.
Zhuang Dongqing: "I wonder when I'll be able to ride this well."
Upon seeing the main force at the foot of the mountain, Cen Yan reined in his horse, and Zhuang Dongqing muttered this remark.
Cen Yan dismounted first: "I'll teach you more in the future. It's just a matter of practice makes perfect."
Zhuang Dongqing smiled, thinking that Cen Yan was just coaxing him and that it couldn't be true, but he didn't question it. In fact, he was quite pleased with this kind of coaxing.
Liu Qi stepped forward, just as Cen Yan was carrying Zhuang Dongqing down. He smelled the blood in his nostrils, and Liu Qi's pupils contracted. Then he saw Zhuang Dongqing's appearance clearly, and his throat tightened.
"I'll have the carriage come over," Liu Qi replied quickly.
Cen Yan: "No need. I'll take him there and go back to the manor first."
Liu Qi stepped aside and immediately led the way, "This way."
When Li Yang and her siblings dismounted, they only saw Cen Yan's back as he was surrounded by the people of the Prince's Mansion and drove away.
Li Yang: "Your Highness..."
Xu Si: "Sixth Prince, please speak with Manager Liu. I'll go find him. I'm afraid Master will have to return to the manor first."
Li Yang realized something, "Aren't you going back?"
Xu Si did not intend to abandon the people on the mountain. "There are still retainers from the Sixth Prince's residence. We must still rescue them, but as for how to rescue them, we must follow the Prince's orders."
Li Yang paused, lowered her eyes for a moment, and then asked firmly, "Can I stay here?"
Xu Si was surprised for a moment, and then he was impressed with Li Yang. "Let's wait for Manager Liu to arrive before we talk about it."
Li Yang took a deep breath, as if she had made up her mind, glanced at the distant mountain peak, and nodded: "Okay."
*
Zhuang Dongqing got into the carriage, and as soon as he leaned against the familiar and comfortable soft couch, he immediately felt as if all the bones in his body had come back to life.
I blinked and felt even sleepier.
After settling him in, Cen Yan got out of the car, presumably to explain the follow-up to Liu Qi. But very quickly, Cen Yan turned back and said to him, "Qingqing, let's go back to the manor."
Zhuang Dongqing struggled to open her eyes, and Cen Yan quickly stepped forward, saying, "What do you want to do? I'll take care of it."
Zhuang Dongqing smiled weakly and said, "It's nothing, I just wanted to say something."
After a pause, Zhuang Dongqing said, "I'm a little sleepy, can I go to sleep?"
Zhuang Dongqing felt that Cen Yan was not in a normal state. He didn't know if he needed to be awake. Perhaps Cen Yan would feel more at ease if he was awake.
Cen Yan said in a deep voice, "Okay."
"Sleep your head on my lap."
Zhuang Dongqing: "Okay."
When Zhuang Dongqing rested his head on Cen Yan's lap, his drowsiness doubled instantly, but he still wanted to talk to Cen Yan a little more. For some reason, he didn't dare to leave Cen Yan alone like this.
Zhuang Dongqing reached out his hand, and Cen Yan understood and immediately grasped it.
Zhuang Dongqing was familiar with the dry and warm feeling in his palms.
Where is An'an?
Zhuang Dongqing asked.
Cen Yan: "In the camp, we were afraid that if we dragged it out too long tonight, we would find out something was amiss, so we sent him over there first, and Grandma is looking after him."
Zhuang Dongqing: "He's been alright since he came back, hasn't he?"
"It's okay, everything's fine, it's just... I miss you a little..."
The last few words were noticeably hesitant and awkward.
Zhuang Dongqing smiled and said, "It's good that you're alright."
The car was quiet.
After walking for a while, Zhuang Dongqing finally mustered up the courage to ask, "Were you angry that day?"
"I've really thought about it very seriously, but I can't think of a way to have the best of both worlds..."
Cen Yan interrupted, "No."
He reached out and touched Zhuang Dongqing's cheek. "You're not angry."
He wasn't angry, but rather...
Feeling the murderous intent churning in his chest, Cen Yan slowly suppressed it, at least not wanting to frighten Zhuang Dongqing. As for the rest, since Zhuang Dongqing was unharmed, they could be dealt with slowly.
One stroke at a time.
Zhuang Dongqing, however, was more perceptive than he had imagined. She squeezed his hand and said, "Don't be upset."
"It's not worth it."
Cen Yan: "...Hmm."
After a moment of silence, Zhuang Dongqing said, "Actually, I couldn't run very fast halfway through..."
The physical exertion issue is unsolvable.
"At first I thought about An'an, but I felt that An'an was still too young and needed someone to take care of her."
"But I also know in my heart that even if I... you can take good care of An'an..."
Feeling the hand holding her tighten, Zhuang Dongqing didn't say anything unlucky. She was so sleepy that she couldn't keep her eyes open, but she forced herself to continue.
"But then I think, if you can take such good care of An'an, what about you?"
"What should we do with our Ayan..."
"Given your personality, you definitely wouldn't want to find a stepfather for An'an."
"You can't expect An'an to take care of you in the future, that's so far away..."
Zhuang Dongqing: "That's why I persevered."
A smile appeared on his face. "And then I saw you right away."
Seeing that smile, Cen Yan's eyes welled up with tears, and he nodded, "Mm."
Zhuang Dongqing's hand was gently tugged. "Look how generous Heaven has been to me. Cheer up, okay?"
After a moment of silence, Cen Yan's voice softened considerably, "Is this you being affectionate, Qingqing?"
Zhuang Dongqing shamelessly said, "If you want to buy it, that's fine too."
Along the way, Cen Yan finally smiled, but it was very brief.
But Zhuang Dongqing felt much better after hearing this.
Then a cool sensation on my eyelids, followed by a gentle kiss. Then, a series of light kisses followed, traveling from my brow to the bridge of my nose, the kisses soft and tender, finally landing on my lips, a fleeting touch.
"I'll accept it."
His voice carried a hint of helplessness.
Suddenly, everything went dark, and Cen Yan placed her hand over his eyes.
"Go to sleep for a while, Qingqing, okay?"
Zhuang Dongqing slowly lost consciousness amidst such gentle sounds and colors.
