Chapter 5

Chapter 5

After finishing her meal, Mo Xiaoxin began pacing around the room, pondering how to proceed with the next task.

She glanced at the maid standing properly: "What's your name?"

The maid replied, "A-Yun."

"Ayun, where is Leng Huai now?"

"This servant does not know the whereabouts of the Demon Lord." A-Yun's eyes flickered, knowing that this hostage from the demon realm was about to cause trouble again.

"Alright, alright, you can go now." Mo Xiaoxin sent Ayun away.

Although Leng Huai disliked the original owner, he made meticulous arrangements for her life in every aspect, without mistreating her in the slightest.

Mo Xiaoxin didn't understand why Leng Huai was not afraid of the Southern Demon Realm at all, so why he still kept the original owner behind?

Shouldn't he have killed the original owner immediately, given his personality?

Could it be that the original owner's existence was of some use to Leng Huai?

But that doesn't make sense. If she was truly valuable, why would they kill her without any mercy?

I don't understand, I have absolutely no idea what this man is thinking.

Never mind, what does it matter to her what that jerk thinks? Completing her mission is more important.

Mo Xiaoxin carried a knife with her.

The scoundrel had killed her so many times before, she wanted to stab him a few times before she died to vent her hatred.

Arriving at Leng Huai's bedroom, Mo Xiaoxin knocked on the door, but no one answered, so she kicked the door open and entered.

Now that more than ten minutes have passed, what is she afraid of him for?

Now she's actually afraid he won't kill her.

As she entered the bedroom, she was about to shout something when she discovered that no one was in the room.

"Leng Huai?" The room was quiet, and no one answered her.

Where did this guy go?

Mo Xiaoxin went outside and randomly asked one of the servants, but they all said they didn't know.

There was nothing she could do but wait for him to return in the bedroom.

There was a refreshing and pleasant scent in Leng Huai's bedroom.

It has to be said that he has pretty good taste; she quite likes this flavor, which is very special and comforting, completely in contrast to Leng Huai's indifference.

Bored, Mo Xiaoxin began to investigate the room.

I didn't have time to look at this room carefully last night, but I have time to observe it closely today.

A black jade bed caught her eye; dark red blood seemed to flow faintly within the jade, giving it an eerie feel.

The thought of lying under such a terrifying bed yesterday sends chills down my spine.

Leng Huai is a real pervert; there was blood on his bed.

She felt nauseous.

The floor was covered with black ice jade, and a chilling aura spread from her feet, making her feel extremely cold even through her shoes. However, the entire room was filled with this cold air, and the only way for her to warm up was to leave the room.

No wonder she was shivering with cold yesterday.

On one side of the bedroom stands a huge bookshelf, made entirely of hard nanmu wood, filled with leather-bound books.

Mo Xiaoxin picked up a book and flipped through it. The book only contained blank yellow pages, without any words.

Perhaps the book was sealed using forbidden techniques.

She gently stroked the outer layer of leather, finding it exceptionally soft to the touch. She was curious; she had never touched such soft and elastic leather before.

She picked up the book and examined it closely. In the dim light filtering through the window cracks, she could see the fine lines on the surface.

She frowned instantly; those fine lines...

It appears to be human.

My stomach churned again.

Next to the bookshelf was a half-height cabinet; she hid here yesterday.

Mo Xiaoxin still felt lingering fear when she recalled yesterday's scene.

She then opened an exquisite wooden drawer, inside which were many crystal-clear gems.

I never expected Leng Huai's room to have so many treasures.

Mo Xiaoxin picked up a piece of jade with a faint blue hue. The jade tube was translucent and warmed when placed in her palm, making it feel like a hand warmer.

She was reluctant to put the jade down, but her eyes were drawn to a piece of jade next to her that had a pale pink hue, and she unconsciously touched it.

The pink jade was not conspicuous among a pile of bright jade. She wanted to pick it up and examine it carefully, but found that the jade seemed to be fixed in the drawer and could not be moved.

As if sensing her touch, the jade transmitted a wisp of spiritual energy to her palm, and her fatigue from yesterday seemed to vanish in an instant.

This pink jade is much better than the blue jade that only generates heat; it's a really good thing. It's a pity that this piece of pink jade can't be moved.

Without noticing, Mo Xiaoxin discovered a hidden door that had quietly appeared in an inconspicuous corner. The door was a very similar color to the wall, and if she hadn't had sharp eyesight, she would have had no chance to detect its existence.

Filled with curiosity, Mo Xiaoxin gently pushed open the hidden door, and in an instant, a completely different world unfolded before her eyes.

Behind the door was a long, narrow corridor, with various medicinal herbs neatly arranged on both sides. These herbs were either stored in rustic wooden boxes or carefully bound with hemp twine, and the entire corridor was filled with a rich aroma of herbs.

Continue along the corridor until you reach a narrow staircase leading underground. There are no lights below; it's an endless darkness.

She wasn't very brave, but for some reason, she wanted to go down and take a look. She felt her way down the wall slowly, trying not to make a sound.

Finally reaching the end of the stairs, a stone door mechanism suddenly appeared before them, as if waiting for a destined person to unlock its secrets.

The organization is heavily guarded; as expected of Leng Huai, he is very cautious.

Mo Xiaoxin searched for a long time but still couldn't find a way to avoid the traps.

After staying in this gloomy underground for a while, I still felt a bit cold.

She shivered.

She didn't know if Leng Huai was here. If not, she might as well go back instead of lingering here for so long.

She hesitated whether to continue exploring further.

Just as Mo Xiaoxin was about to give up and return, she saw that the mechanism was actually a Sudoku nine-square grid.

I thought it was some extremely difficult or profound mechanism, but it turns out it's just this.

Mo Xiaoxin smiled slightly; this was no problem for her.

It took Mo Xiaoxin less than ten minutes to decipher the password.

Leng Huai, Leng Huai, you can't blame her for this. It's just that the password you set happened to be one of her strengths.

The stone gate slowly opened, and Mo Xiaoxin walked in.

As soon as Mo Xiaoxin stepped into the stone passage, she felt a slight chill and then noticed that there were water stains on the stone wall and the ground, and moss had grown over time.

Mo Xiaoxin walked carefully forward, trying her best not to step on the water and moss.

As she passed through the narrow stone passage, Mo Xiaoxin was suddenly greeted by a bright and spacious area.

A huge underground circular pool appeared before us, its surface like a giant black mirror, so calm that there wasn't a ripple.

Looking up, above the pool is a wide, arched black stone wall, rising high like a giant pot lid that covers the entire space.

This place is like a prison isolated from the world, completely sealed off, with not a single ray of sunlight able to penetrate the thick stone walls. Only a few dim lamps in the corners provide a meager light, their yellowish glow flickering in the darkness like candles in the wind, threatening to go out at any moment.

In the dim light, the surrounding stone walls seemed to be constantly squeezing and closing in, bringing a suffocating sense of oppression, making it hard to breathe, as if one were in an endless abyss, tightly surrounded by darkness and fear.

As Mo Xiaoxin stood at the edge of the pool, before she had even truly stepped into that mysterious area, a chill that seeped into her bones swept over her like a surging tide, making her shiver involuntarily.

The constant chill made her uneasy.

Just how afraid of heat is this person? Not only is the room filled with Xuanbing Jade, but they also like to set up a pool in this cold and damp underground.

I wonder what lies hidden beneath this seemingly calm pool.

Through the dim light, Mo Xiaoxin could vaguely see a human head in the pool.

Upon closer inspection, wasn't this none other than the Demon Lord Leng Huai she was looking for?

Leng Huai submerged in the pool with his eyes closed, only his handsome face visible. A few strands of wet hair clung to his chin, making his face appear eerily unsettling. His eyes were tightly shut, lacking their usual icy gaze; his aloofness had lessened somewhat, leaving only a hint of coldness in his slightly pursed lips. Yet, she seemed to see suppressed pain on his face, cold sweat beading on his forehead.

Mo Xiaoxin paused, then quickly hid behind the stone passage. Luckily, she didn't go out, or she would have been discovered.

What's Leng Huai doing here?

Judging from his expression, he seems to be in a lot of pain. Could he be injured?

Mo Xiaoxin had an innate fear of such deep water, and involuntarily shrank back.

The water level was slowly rising. What was originally up to Leng Huai's neck was now at the edge of his lips, but Leng Huai seemed oblivious and showed no intention of leaving the pool.

Oh no, is he going to commit suicide?

If Leng Huai dies, how will she complete her mission? She has to go and save him!

But she stopped as soon as she took a step.

This place appears to be a secret chamber dug by Leng Huai. There are no servants attending to him, and it was deliberately set up under the bedroom, perhaps because Leng Huai did not want outsiders to know about it.

Mo Xiaoxin was startled; she might have stumbled upon Leng Huai's secret base by accident.

Based on her past experience reading novels, she knew that such mysterious basements usually concealed unspeakable secrets. If Leng Huai found out that she knew his secrets, he would definitely kill her as soon as possible.

She flinched, a chill running down her spine.

But isn't she here to die?

Go for it, Mo Xiaoxin!

Death is not scary, poverty is scary!

She mustered her courage and went over.

The closer you get to the pool, the more water stains are spread out on the ground.

Mo Xiaoxin suppressed her fear and slowly walked towards Leng Huai.

Leng Huai kept his eyes closed, seemingly unaware of Mo Xiaoxin's arrival.

Mo Xiaoxin called out, "Leng Huai?"

Leng Huai remained completely still, as if immersed in his own world, oblivious to any sounds coming from the outside world.

As the water level rose higher and higher, almost exceeding the edge of the pool, the originally flat pool gradually began to ripple, with water occasionally splashing out and overflowing onto the ground.

Leng Huai's expression became even more pained; his eyebrows furrowed and his whole body trembled.

Strange, what's wrong with Leng Huai?

Mo Xiaoxin cautiously approached the pool and reached out to touch the water.

The touch sent shivers down her spine. The water was as cold as ice water in the frigid north, and a sense of despair seeped into her heart through her fingertips. This strange and eerie feeling plunged her into despair.

She sensed something was wrong and quickly withdrew her hand. She had originally intended to go into the pool to save Leng Huai, but she immediately shrank back.

In the dim light, she seemed to see something swimming towards her in the bottomless pool.

Her breathing became rapid, her eyes fixed on the slightly rippling water.

Suddenly, a giant black python emerged from the water, flicking its tongue as it attacked Mo Xiaoxin.

Mo Xiaoxin was so terrified by the enormous creature that her scalp tingled, and before she could escape, she was bitten to death.

[System notification: One million yuan has been deducted.]

Mo Xiaoxin had just woken up and was still immersed in the pain of death when she heard the system's notification sound.

Her eyes suddenly widened.

How much? A million?

Did she hear that right?

The system explained, "Host, if you are killed by someone other than Leng Huai, you will lose a lot of points."

"This is going to kill me!!!" Mo Xiaoxin roared to the sky.

The system shrugged: "There's nothing we can do; reviving someone is against the natural order."

Mo Xiaoxin muttered under her breath, "Isn't making me experience being killed a violation of the natural order?"

As the balance dwindled, Mo Xiaoxin's heart bled.

How many times would Leng Huai have to kill her to earn that much money?

She'll probably wake up near the pool again next time, so she can't stay in the same place.

Mo Xiaoxin opened her eyes and found herself lying not far from the edge of the pool.

The water level was still around Leng Huai's neck.

Thinking of the terrifying appearance of the giant python, Mo Xiaoxin quickly got up and fled the place.

This place is not suitable for being killed; let's find another place.
