Chapter 55

Chapter 55

"Is that woman practicing martial arts outside the one you love most?"

Leng Huai remained silent.

“I know even if you don’t answer, I can tell you treat her differently.” Mu Xue’s voice carried a hint of excitement.

"What are you going to do to her? She's innocent!" Leng Huai asked, frowning.

"What? Getting excited already? I can't wait to see how you'll react if I peeled her skin off layer by layer right in front of you!"

"You! How cruel!"

"I'm cruel? I'm not even one ten-thousandth as cruel as you."

"What exactly did you do to her?" Leng Huai looked around the cave, but Mo Xiaoxin was nowhere to be seen.

Mu Xue: "Don't rush."

With a smile on her thin lips, Mu Xue gently pressed a button beside her, and the layout of the cave instantly began to change.

Leng Huai and the others were at the upper part of the cave, where a high platform appeared below. Mo Xiaoxin lay unconscious on it. The platform connected to four long passages, each ending in a door. Below the platform was a bottomless abyss.

From their positions, Leng Huai and Mu Xue could see Mo Xiaoxin's movements from every angle.

Mo Xiaoxin lay quietly on the high platform, like prey being observed.

"If you dare to hurt her, I will tear you to pieces!" Leng Huai had a bad feeling.

The woman in front of him had finally managed to capture him, and she was determined to humiliate him properly. However, this also implicated Mo Xiaoxin, and he immediately regretted bringing Mo Xiaoxin to the Illusionary Spirit Abyss.

He had already chosen the trees to be transplanted and just received a message from Qiao Yun that he was about to leave his physical body and go to the palace. However, he did not expect that as soon as he left his physical body, he was ambushed by Mu Xue.

Mu Xue sneered, "In your current state, stop trying to be tough. Just watch how I torture her."

Mu Xue's voice was calm but carried a chilling undertone.

Then came another rumbling sound from the machinery.

The stone gate on the north side was opened.

Countless venomous snakes surged out from within like a tidal wave, hissing, and were almost upon Mo Xiaoxin in the blink of an eye.

Seeing that Mo Xiaoxin was still unconscious and lying motionless, Leng Huai's heart tightened. He moved slightly, and the spider silk caused him to bleed again.

Mu Xue raised an eyebrow and said casually, "You're already reluctant to part with it? The best is yet to come."

In her dazed state, Mo Xiaoxin heard a series of chaotic sounds around her, with someone constantly hissing in her ear.

It's so annoying, why is it so noisy?

She slowly opened her eyes, and what she saw startled her.

She was surrounded by a dense circle of snakes, their eyes filled with ferocity, as if they would attack her immediately if she moved even slightly.

Mo Xiaoxin didn't dare to move at all, glancing at where she was.

She was on a circular platform less than five meters in diameter, with four paths leading to different doors. Below the platform was a bottomless abyss; falling in would surely mean certain death.

If she wasn't mistaken, the snake was released from the north gate, and there must be something waiting for her inside the other three gates as well.

What should we do? Where should she run to?

Inside the door, snakes kept swarming out, completely blocking the way.

Mo Xiaoxin touched her back; the Demon God Staff was nowhere to be found.

Mo Xiaoxin called out in her heart several times, but the Demon God Staff did not respond at all.

Leng Huai also noticed this and couldn't help but feel puzzled.

Seeing their bewildered expressions, Mu Xue laughed out loud: "Are you looking for it?"

Mu Xue pointed to a corner where a simple water vat was placed, and the Demon Staff lay quietly inside.

"What a childish temper. I only used a bouquet of flowers to make it lower its guard and obediently fall into my trap." Mu Xue walked to the water tank and smiled slightly: "This is filled with thousand-year-old ice. No matter how powerful the fire-type magic weapon is, it can't do anything to it. Consider this magic weapon useless. Don't think about it anymore."

Mo Xiaoxin looked up and saw Leng Huai hanging on the wall and a woman with red hair.

Mo Xiaoxin understood.

It must be some rotten romance that Leng Huai brought upon her again, and she was forced to suffer the consequences.

He cursed Leng Huai a thousand times in his heart.

Mo Xiaoxin glanced at the distance between herself and the platform; with her current abilities, flying up there wouldn't be a problem.

Mu Xue saw through Mo Xiaoxin's idea and immediately poured cold water on it: "Don't even think about coming out. I've put up a barrier around you."

Mo Xiaoxin felt ashamed; her movement of raising her head attracted the attention of the snakes.

A long, slender snake looked a little off, and Mo Xiaoxin noticed it instantly.

The two looked at each other, and for some reason she saw a hint of confusion in the snake's eyes.

Suddenly, the snake became agitated and charged towards Mo Xiaoxin.

Mu Xue witnessed this scene, a smug smile spreading across her face. She exclaimed excitedly, "These are venomous snakes I fished out of the underground river! Their venom is a hundred times stronger than ordinary snakes. These snakes have a unique characteristic: if you're bitten, they won't kill you instantly. Instead, they'll attack your mind, destroy your will to live, and induce hallucinations, causing you to kill yourself. During this process, there's no pain, no itching, no sensation whatsoever. How about that? This way of dying isn't so bad, is it?"

Mu Xue stared at Leng Huai's face, seemingly trying to see a trace of discomfort on his face.

But Leng Huai remained silent throughout, not uttering a single word.

This puzzled her. She had inquired about the woman and learned that she was the Demon Queen he had married and that he had taken her to the Illusionary Spirit Abyss to cultivate magic. How could she not have any reaction at all?

It must be an act!

A knowing glint flashed in Mu Xue's eyes.

She had made thorough preparations before taking action, waiting for this day for many years. During those years, she diligently cultivated her skills but encountered numerous setbacks and nearly lost her life. Fortunately, she was lucky enough to meet that person, who saved her life just when she was about to give up.

Now that Leng Huai has finally fallen into her hands, she is determined to make him feel like he is being pierced by a thousand arrows, to avenge her brother and father!

Her gaze fell on Mo Xiaoxin again, but to her utter surprise, the snake that had been about to attack Mo Xiaoxin had somehow obediently settled on Mo Xiaoxin's arm and was gently licking her cheek.

Mo Xiaoxin was ready to attack with fire magic, but just as she raised her hand, the snake suddenly revealed a smiling face, looking like it wanted to please her.

Her movements froze on the spot, and the snake slithered up her outstretched hand, coming close to her and licking her affectionately.

I'm totally confused.

The other snakes were a little surprised to see their leader acting this way, but as they got closer, they all started to act ingratiatingly.

Mo Xiaoxin then took a closer look at the snakes.

It turns out these snakes are cobras, and they're all nearsighted.

But that doesn't make sense. Even if she's nearsighted, why would their attitude towards her change so drastically?

Leng Huai, who had been staring at Mo Xiaoxin, had a guess in his heart.

It's likely because Mo Xiaoxin awakened ice magic. Yue is the glory of the snake clan, and her existence with ice magic is a symbol of the entire snake clan. People with ice magic naturally exude a powerful aura. Even though Mo Xiaoxin's magic power is not yet strong and is sealed, in the eyes of these snake clan members, she is a saint-like figure, someone they should respect.

Thinking of this, Leng Huai chuckled twice: "Mu Xue, you didn't even consider that she's a sacred figure to these snakes, like a saintess. How could they possibly attack her?"

Mu Xue frowned: "This...how is this possible?!"

It took her a lot of effort to catch those snakes.

She was furious and frantically pressed the buttons next to her.

"Boom boom boom boom."

A loud crash came from beneath her feet. Mo Xiaoxin suddenly felt that the ground was uneven. She looked warily at the platform below and quickly squatted down to maintain her balance.

Suddenly, the road to the north collapsed, and all the snakes that were still crawling fell down.

Mo Xiaoxin's original plan to enter the gate through the road to the north was also ruined.

They're really leaving her no way out.

Fortunately, the snakes on the platform did not fall; they surrounded Mo Xiaoxin, forming a circle around her.

Immediately afterwards, the south door was slowly opened.

Mo Xiaoxin stared intently at the door, wondering what would appear inside.

As if sensing danger, the snakes that were still surrounding Mo Xiaoxin all crawled towards her.

Mo Xiaoxin was originally very afraid of snakes, but since she came to this world and experienced all sorts of strange creatures, she has developed an unexpected affinity for snakes, perhaps because she herself is a snake.

She was deeply moved by the instinctive protective behavior of these little creatures.

The door slowly opened, and Mo Xiaoxin stared intently at it. Her heart skipped a beat, and her hair stood on end.

The black door was filled with countless glints of blood-red light! The blood-red light surged incessantly, as if it were about to burst forth.

After the door was fully opened, the blood-red lights swarmed out, and Mo Xiaoxin then realized that these things were terrifyingly large ants!

The crimson light was the eyes of the ants. These ants were as thick as an adult's arm, with heads that were disproportionately large, giving them an eerie and terrifying appearance. They swarmed towards her in dense numbers, their antennae flailing about like writhing black hairs. Their exposed teeth were incredibly sharp, as if a bite from them would shatter bones.

Mo Xiaoxin froze at the sight, goosebumps rising on her skin.

Good heavens, these ants must be mutant ants!

These snakes appeared small and delicate in front of the ants, trembling with fear, yet they remained standing firm, their determination to protect Mo Xiaoxin unshakable.

If she was lucky to have just encountered a snake, how should she deal with these mutated ants that looked incredibly ferocious?

The ant and the snake began to fight. The ant's sharp fangs gnawed at the snake's body, while the snake, not to be outdone, spat venom into the ant's eyes, causing the ant to stagger back in pain.

Seeing this, Mo Xiaoxin quickly reminded them, "They're all attacking the eyes; that's their weak point!"

The snakes, who were fighting fiercely, started spitting at the ants after hearing Mo Xiaoxin's reminder.

The ants screamed in agony, making sharp chirping sounds.

Looking at them, Mo Xiaoxin felt her eyes start to hurt.

Before long, the ant colony gradually lost ground.

Mu Xue stared in disbelief: "???"

This was the ant colony she had painstakingly found in the poisonous swarm at the peak of despair. They usually feed on corpses and their bodies carry cadaver poison. How could they be scared away by these snakes?

If I had known, she would have released the ants first and then the snake last.

Damn it, this woman actually took credit for her own work! She's just as annoying as Leng Huai!
