Chapter 42 The Road Ahead
After returning home, Gu Wan went to boil water on his own initiative. Liu Yin'er sat in front of the bed in a daze. She had never thought of such a day before. If she married a man, she would probably not get such consideration. She couldn't help but smile. Although her husband was a woman, he treated his wife better than countless men.
After feeling relieved, Liu Yiner thought to herself that it would be better for them to consider the long-term consequences.
At night, the two of them naturally slept in the same quilt. Although Liu Yin'er behaved submissively, the more she did so, the more Gu Wan dared not act rashly.
Sure enough, the next day, her wife started to drive people away again.
"Awan, let's go back to the academy today. You can't always do what you want. How can teaching and educating be treated as a joke?" After breakfast, Liu Yin'er carefully packed their clothes and told them her plan.
Gu Wan swallowed a mouthful of hot tea with difficulty. "Yin'er, it's okay. Those are not serious. I just want to be here with you."
"Awan, you shouldn't be like this. I don't like irresponsible people. No matter you are a man or a woman, you must be responsible for your own life." Liu Yin'er held her forehead with a headache. If this love makes Gu Wan lose herself, then she would rather give up this relationship.
"But, Yin'er, I want to be with you." After saying this, Gu Wan suddenly felt sad. She was becoming less and less like herself. Now she only knew how to cater to her wife endlessly, and everything else was gone with the wind. Even so, could she not win back a heart?
Liu Yiner looked at Gu Wan's sad eyes and sighed in her heart, "Ah Wan, we are not three-year-old children anymore. Some things must be done step by step."
Gu Wan didn't say anything else. She understood these principles very well. Before her heart was moved, she had a life she longed for, a career she liked, and a career she pursued. But now, her heart was on the person in front of her.
So every focus in her life changed, and after making comparisons and weighing various wants and desires, she came to the conclusion that the most difficult and important thing for her to give up was Liu Yiner.
When she realized this and was willing to give up everything, the person she wanted no longer belonged to her, or perhaps he never belonged to her. Gu Wan was immersed in her own thoughts, and Liu Yiner was concentrating on taking care of the gift.
About an hour later, the driver arrived at the gate. Liu Yiner glanced at the man who was still in a daze and sighed again, "Awan, let's go. We still have time to tidy up the room when we get back."
Gu Wan stammered for a long time without saying a word. She wanted to stay a little longer. She wanted to ask if it was okay for her not to leave. She had just gotten on the carriage when she saw the people behind her getting on. Seeing Liu Yin'er sitting peacefully, Gu Wan vaguely understood something in her heart and asked with a burning gaze, "Yin'er, are you going too?"
Liu Yiner looked at her with amusement. What was this person thinking? Couldn't she see the two people's greetings? "What did Ah Wan think?"
The carriage slowly started off. Gu Wan happily took Liu Yin'er's hand and repeatedly said, "Yin'er, it's so good, so good."
Liu Yiner looked at the person who was immersed in joy like a fool, and her heart softened. The most precious thing in the world is a loyal person. She glanced at the person who was still in a daze, found a comfortable position to lean on Gu Wan, closed her eyes and fell asleep peacefully.
Gu Wan turned her head to look at the sleeping young lady. Is this the end of suffering and the beginning of happiness? Although there is not much suffering, she did not dare to jump to conclusions at this moment. Yin'er's thoughts are becoming more and more difficult to understand.
In Jiuqu County, in order not to wake up her sleeping wife, Gu Wan made a gesture to the coachman and picked her up gently. What she thought in her mind was to gently put her wife on the bed, but in fact, on the way out of the carriage, she felt her own fatigue. Was it because she lacked exercise or her voice became heavier?
Gu Wan was crying but had no tears in her eyes as she slowly moved forward under the full gaze of the coachman. When she was about to reach the gate of the courtyard, her wrist suddenly gave out and the person in her arms fell down. Gu Wan screamed in panic and held on to the person. Fortunately, the person didn't fall. Just as she was feeling relieved, she heard a chuckle in her ears. Gu Wan's face flushed immediately. Could she say that the sound became heavier?
"Awan has a grudge against me. Are you looking for an opportunity to take revenge, huh?" Liu Yiner rarely dispelled the gloom and deliberately teased the embarrassed Gu Wan in a happy mood.
Gu Wan swung her sleeves and said nothing, busying herself with opening the door. She didn't dare to look back at her wife. She must exercise well in the future. She was a husband in vain, but she could hardly even lift her own wife.
"Don't be shy, Ah Wan. Actually, I can't hold you either. You are stronger after all." Liu Yiner saw that Gu Wan seemed to have been hit hard, so she didn't care about making fun of her and tried to comfort her.
After returning to the room, the two of them tidied up briefly, and Liu Yiner went to the kitchen. Apart from a little rice, there was nothing to eat. She thought about it, then turned back to find the person who was still struggling with what had just happened. "Awan, let's go to the street and buy some food. I don't know if we can still buy anything at this time."
Gu Wan glanced outside. The sky was a little dim under the setting sun. She didn't delay any longer and said, "Yin'er, just take a good rest at home. Leave these to me." After saying that, she went out without waiting for anyone to react.
Liu Yiner looked at the person who hurried out, and then thought about what she had just said. She was afraid that this person was trying hard to save face.
After sitting in the room bored for a while, she looked at the sky and simply got up to boil water. Fortunately, there was some dry firewood in the kitchen. Liu Yiner carefully lit the fire, added a few pieces of firewood, and stared at the stove in a daze. The burning firelight reflected on her confused cheeks.
I'd better go to the restaurant to help tomorrow. As for Ah Wan, things will work out in the end. Let's just let it go for now. I can't forgive her easily this time. She must suffer. But what if I can't bear it anymore?
After a long time, Liu Yiner seemed to remember something and relaxed her frown. Let's start tomorrow. I hope this guy can really correct his bad habit of drinking and being careless.
Gu Wan, who had just walked in with fruits and vegetables, had no idea that she would be alone in her empty room again tomorrow. At this moment, she was still in high spirits, "Yin'er, I'm back. Look what I bought. I'll make you crucian carp and tofu soup later."
Liu Yiner couldn't help but feel puzzled when she heard this. She didn't know Gu Wan's identity before, but now he was a young master of a general's mansion, and he had been raised as a man since he was a child. Why would he be so good at cooking? This was weird no matter how she thought about it.
They seemed to have gotten used to each other all along. Since Gu Wan didn't say anything, Liu Yin'er didn't rush to ask. She just waited for time to give her the answer. She didn't know whether this way of getting along was good or bad.
