If someone says they'll take care of you, be careful they might be feeding you leftovers.

If someone says they'll take care of you, be careful they might be feeding you leftovers.

This long street in the city center is the busiest and most lively every day.

"Slap! Slap! Slap!..."

At the street corner, a few crisp cracking sounds, very close, briefly blocked out the noise of the crowd. Ye Qingzhou's carriage also slowed down.

"Why did you three bump into me?" Pumpkin accused.

"What are you babbling about, you outsider?"

"I hit you!"

"Pay back our wine jars! And the wine! Aren't you rich? Pay up!"

Three middle-aged men were blocking the carriage, preventing it from moving. They even tried to get passersby to judge the situation.

Fearing that Nan Gua might be at a disadvantage, Ye Qingzhou lifted the carriage curtain to see what was going on.

"You sit here and relax, I'll go check on things." Jiang Jinghong pressed her hand down and squeezed it. The carriage curtain, unattended, fell again.

"Hmm. With Jinghong around, I've become lazy. My legs look like they just grew back; I haven't walked more than a few steps every day." Ye Qingzhou squeezed his hand back, then let go.

Jiang Jinghong smiled and pinched her cheek, feeling the soft, delicate skin between his fingers: "Save your strength for tonight."

"you……"

Before Ye Qingzhou could say anything, the noise outside grew even louder. Clearly, Pumpkin couldn't win an argument against three people; Chonghua and Jiang Yuan, who were with him, had also joined the fray.

"Don't get out of the car. Wait for me to come back." After Jiang Jinghong finished speaking, he pulled open the car curtain and glanced around. He saw Yu Xi standing under a tree by the roadside, watching the commotion with her fists clasped.

Yu Xi stared intently at the carriage. Through the gap in the curtain, she could see Ye Qingzhou's face, still as beautiful as a flower, with rosy lips, a fair complexion, and ink-black hair.

"What the hell are you looking at! I've practically glared you out of the blue! What gives you the right to look? Yu Xi, don't you know what you've been up to these past few days?" Jiang Jinghong was displeased. He got out of the carriage, lowered the curtain, and then straightened the corner of the curtain to avoid revealing anything.

The troublemaker pointed at the pumpkin: "We locals can't even make a living running a small business. You outsiders have only been here a few days and you've already established yourself. You must have something going on with Master Liu."

Before he could finish speaking, his companion chimed in, "That's right, your female boss always has such a big belly, is that Mr. Liu's child in her belly?"

Pumpkin picked up a shard of porcelain and threw it at him.

Chonghua stood to the side, hands on her hips, and cursed at him: "You gave birth to your grandfather!"

"You foul-mouthed bastard! You're asking for it!" Jiang Yuan rolled up his sleeves and charged forward.

Jiang Jinghong reached out and pulled Jiang Yuan back: "What did we agree on before we left?"

Jiang Yuan was taken aback and stopped.

The two exchanged a glance.

Pumpkin and redrawing, we're still arguing back and forth, one sentence after another.

Jiang Jinghong and Jiang Yuan suddenly strode towards the large tree by the roadside. Yu Xi dodged twice, but was surrounded from both sides.

"To catch the thief, you must first catch the king." Jiang Jinghong pinned Yu Xi's hands behind her back against the tree trunk: "These past few days, the trouble you've caused at the shop must have been your doing!"

Yu Xi looked defiant. He sneered, spat out the leaf from his mouth, and slightly raised his chin at the person next to him.

"I've been wanting to get rid of you for ages!" Jiang Yuan slapped Yu Xi across the face several times. "You're not convinced? I'll beat you until you do! You bastard, you gathered a bunch of bastards to block the door of your sister-in-law's new shop, and you even spread rumors and caused trouble. We've been working so hard, we haven't slept well for six or seven days. Damn it! I'll beat you to death."

The three troublemakers wanted to help, but Pumpkin and Redraw stopped them, and they started arguing fiercely.

"Hahahaha!" Yu Xi laughed loudly even after being hit: "You've fallen for my trap!"

The four of them looked back and saw that the carriage had indeed been pulled away. The carriage was moving very fast and quickly. The curtains at the back of the carriage were fluttering, just enough for people to see that inside the carriage, Mother Yu and an old woman were holding the heavily pregnant Ye Qingzhou hostage, one on each side.

Ye Qingzhou remained motionless, having fallen into a coma at some unknown time.

"Master!" Pumpkin hurriedly chased after him, but was tripped by the troublemaker and fell to the ground.

Chonghua was also held back and couldn't move. Pumpkin struggled to his feet, kicking and shoving, to rescue Chonghua.

"Second Brother, run!" Jiang Yuan shouted, single-handedly sweeping away four or five people, using all his best skills.

Jiang Jinghong ran forward and followed for half a street. Just as he was about to catch up, someone bumped into him. He couldn't dodge in time and was a step too late; the carriage turned into the alley.

Without even catching her breath, Jiang Jinghong gritted her teeth and continued the chase.

As soon as Jiang Jinghong entered the alley, he saw Yu Xi, who shouldn't be there, and she gave him a contemptuous smile: "You still lost to me."

"Ha!" Jiang Jinghong was distracted, glancing at the speeding carriage ahead and then watching it turn right. Gritting his teeth, ignoring his panting, Jiang Jinghong unleashed a flying scissor kick, instantly restraining Yu Xi.

Yu Xi suddenly knelt down, throwing Jiang Jinghong to the ground, and then pressed him down on the ground: "I've been thinking about how to counter your move for a long time."

His stomach was throbbing with pain, as if he'd been hit by a rock. Jiang Jinghong was in so much pain that sweat beaded on his forehead. His eyes, however, were fixed on the distant alleyway.

Qingzhou is still waiting for him to save her.

A flash of cold light appeared before Jiang Jinghong's eyes, and he instinctively raised his arm to block it. But he only felt a chill on his arm, and then smelled a bloody odor.

"You're lucky to be alive!" Yu Xi missed with her first stab, so she stabbed again.

Ignoring the bleeding and pain in her arm, Jiang Jinghong tried to snatch it away with all her might.

Behind the life-or-death struggle lay the hatred of losing a wife; both men were filled with rage. The dagger was pointed at Jiang Jinghong one moment, then Jiang Jinghong gritted his teeth and forcefully turned it, pointing it diagonally at Yu Xi.

Why isn't he dead? Yu Xi's eyes were filled with hatred.

How is he still alive? Jiang Jinghong gritted his teeth, wishing he could sink this person who was blocking his happiness to the bottom of the sea and never see him again.

"Go to hell! Your money and women are all mine! Hahahahahaha!" Yu Xi laughed maniacally, the short knife in her hand piercing through Jiang Jinghong's clothes.

Blood trickled down his arm. No! He couldn't die! Ignoring the increasing bleeding from his wound, Jiang Jinghong exerted his strength once more.

"Second Brother!"

"Son-in-law!"

Several familiar voices came from behind.

Yu Xi was taken aback and turned to leave, but Jiang Jinghong grabbed her leg.

Yu Xi kicked her legs wildly and relentlessly.

"Qingzhou, where is it?" Jiang Jinghong held on tightly, refusing to let go.

"She's in a place you'll never find. She's mine in life and in death. Even if I beg on the streets and eat leftovers, she'll follow me. We're husband and wife, what the hell is it to you? Why do you have to get involved?"

“You can’t do this to her!” Jiang Jinghong argued.

"Heh! You're such a good actor! You're even better at deceiving women than I am." Yu Xi was furious. He couldn't leave no matter what he did. He became emboldened and turned around to stab Jiang Jinghong in the chest.

"Son-in-law!!!" Pumpkin and Repaint shouted in unison.

"Clang!" A silver ingot flew out of Jiang Yuan's hand, deflecting Yu Xi's knife.

Yu Xi's first attempt to stab failed, and just as he was about to make the final thrust, he was struck in the eye by a silver ingot.

Jiang Yuan rushed over and kicked Yu Xi aside: "Good heavens, I made it!"
