Chapter 5 Jiang Miaomiao's Outburst

Chapter 5 Jiang Miaomiao's Outburst

Jiang Zhengye roared in correction: "I said you have to call me Dad!"

Jiang Miaomiao thought for a moment and said seriously, "How about I call you boss?"

Jiang Zhengye flinched dangerously: "What do you want to do?"

"Don't be nervous," Jiang Miaomiao reassured her. "I'm about to graduate, aren't I? Self-reliance is too hard, and hard work is only suitable for poor people. Since you say that our Jiang family is rich and powerful, I can climb this ladder with dignity and go back to Hong Kong to become a senior executive parachuted in."

Jiang Zhengye protested: "Isn't a woman's career ultimately about getting married and having children? As long as you listen to my advice and get married in your prime, you can achieve anything!"

“Old Jiang, read more books and look through the Civil Code when you have time. Getting married now is not like before, where you could share the property equally, and the poor would climb up to the rich to achieve common prosperity.” Jiang Miaomiao chuckled a few times. “But if you give me some dowry, I’ll have money in hand before the wedding, and maybe I’ll dare to marry someone and take a gamble.”

Jiang Miaomiao solemnly replied, "The truth."

He waved his right hand again, "Not much, just 0.5 billion."

Jiang Zhengye gasped: "Fifty million? Are you robbing me?"

Jiang Miaomiao raised her eyebrows: "You think this is too much? Just think, if I had really married into the Song family back then, I would have been able to inherit billions of dollars. Doing business requires investment; you can't catch a wolf without risking your cub."

Jiang Zhengye shook his head decisively: "What kind of family would give money to their daughter's family when she gets married! It's better not to marry her off at all!"

"Tsk tsk." Jiang Miaomiao frowned and earnestly advised, "Old Jiang, think again about the billions that the second eldest son of the Song family has!"

Jiang Zhengye lamented, "These billions are gone!"

Jiang Miaomiao slammed her hand on the table, looking at him with a look of utter disappointment: "So you need to learn from this lesson. The root of the problem lies with you! Since you wanted to treat my marriage like a business deal, what did I contribute, and what did you contribute? I risked losing both my money and my wife, while you just wanted to get something for nothing? To sit back and enjoy the spoils? If you had given me the money directly from the beginning, I would have had a backup plan and immediately married you in a grand ceremony to fight for those billions of dollars in inheritance! So, in the end, it's because you're not generous enough!"

Jiang Zhengye paused, vaguely feeling that it made sense, but also feeling that it was nonsense and he had no answer.

Jiang Miaomiao coaxed him gently: "Old Jiang, think back to the billions that Song Erlao had back then!"

Jiang Zhengye: "..."

"If you're stupid, you should read more books. First, calm down and reflect on your mistakes, then review them with me!" After scolding him, Jiang Miaomiao hung up the video call swiftly before he could even come to his senses and ask, "Who's the boss here?"

She knew that even if Jiang Zhengye had money, he wouldn't be willing to spend it, let alone now that he had no money, as his safe had been emptied by his mistress and lover.

**

Jiang Miaomiao is now counting down the days until graduation. Her routine is the same as before: dormitory, library, and teaching building.

But the tree may wish to be still, but the wind will not cease. Rumors inexplicably resurfaced on campus about the incident in the apartment, implying that she was not clean, and she happened to overhear them whispering in a corner several times.

No, Jiang Miaomiao knew very well: this wasn't a coincidence, it was a deliberate attempt to make herself run into it, and then feel ashamed.

It was Hao Luwei, who, despite being slim and having a small waist, wore clothes with the words "I am pregnant" printed on them, and then walked up to her looking sickly, pale-faced, dressed in white, and looking utterly pitiful.

Jiang Miaomiao was in the library's study room, slightly turning her head to look at the sickly woman who had been standing beside her for a long time.

Hao Luwei frowned and sighed, "Senior, I really envy you for being able to study so hard here. I can't help it. I started vomiting as soon as I got pregnant and can't eat anything. Senior Yupeng felt sorry for me and helped me get a leave of absence. My future in-laws also felt sorry for me and specially took me to their home. They give me all kinds of bird's nest and fish maw supplements every day. A bunch of people are taking such good care of me, which makes me feel so stuffy and tired, so I come back to school to get some fresh air... Seeing that you are older than me but are still studying so hard, I really feel ashamed..."

Jiang Miaomiao chuckled: "I really admire how you dare to say such sarcastic things in front of me. Hao Luwei, I advise you to know when to stop and keep your tail between your legs. If it weren't for the fact that you're pregnant, you wouldn't even have the face to walk through this school gate."

Hao Luwei, who had been smug, was provoked by these words, and her beautiful face suddenly became somewhat ferocious. Even though she was still smiling, her tone was harsh and gritting: "Senior, what are you saying? Senior Yupeng is an independent person. Just because he dated you doesn't mean he's your possession. You weren't engaged, and you didn't sleep together. It was like playing house. If it worked out, you stayed together; if it didn't, you broke up. Now that you've broken up, Senior Yupeng and I are together openly, equally matched, and everyone envies us. How can I be ashamed to even step into the school gates?"

"ah?"

Jiang Miaomiao's face showed a hint of surprise. "So, it's only considered 'playing house' if you have to sleep together? Hao Luwei, you call yourself from a scholarly family, is this the kind of upbringing you 'scholarly family' has? Then why are you crying and complaining after you got Sui Yupeng drunk and seduced him into bed? Isn't this kind of casual fling and one-night stand exactly what your upbringing is like?"

Hao Luwei's eyes flickered guiltily. "Senior, I don't know what you're talking about. But please show some respect when you speak!"

Jiang Miaomiao casually propped her chin up and down, "Although you used to hang around in front of me often, I've never actually seen what you look like. Now that I've taken a closer look, you really are ugly, just like your heart! You secretly plot against people behind their backs, but you also contradictorily want people to know that you did it, otherwise you can't show that you're smarter than me? Better than me? Right?"

Hao Luwei's expression changed instantly, but the corners of her mouth did indeed turn up in a contradictory way.

Jiang Miaomiao was right! But so what?

Hao Luwei is the winner now, and the harsher Jiang Miaomiao's words are, the angrier she is, which means she has lost even more miserably. So say whatever you want... Hao Luwei is happy to listen, not angry at all, not at all bothered, not even a little bit!

Hao Luwei composed herself, glancing at Jiang Miaomiao with a sneer, maintaining a dignified, gentle, and serene demeanor. But Jiang Miaomiao's next words almost made her break down again, "Taking advantage of the tiger's nap, a fox wearing human skin sneaks onto the stage and thinks it's a noble person? Trying to show off one's axe in front of Lu Ban's door, a little devil pretending to be the city god, a petty person can't stand on a grand stage, it's utterly shameful."

"Shut up!"

Someone saw the word "pregnant woman" written on the front of her clothes and came over to help her.

Hao Luwei glanced at Jiang Miaomiao, seemingly still thinking of some foolish trick to trick her, but then she saw Jiang Miaomiao point to the cameras with red dots lit up around the top of her head, so that whatever she wanted to do would not succeed.

Helpless, Hao Luwei could only feign discomfort and have someone help her away.

After everyone had gone, Jiang Miaomiao went back to reading her book.

But after a while, she suddenly realized: Sui Yupeng is one thing, but what about the other members of the Sui family? They don't know what kind of person this woman is, right? What if she doesn't know in the future... Oh well, never mind, it's none of her business.

...

The long-awaited defense date finally arrived. Jiang Miaomiao, dressed in a fitted suit, carrying a laptop, stood ramrod straight outside the teaching building, waiting for her advisor to summon her.

People would pass by her from time to time, offering her friendly smiles and words of encouragement. Even if they weren't drawn by her consistently top grades in the school, they were drawn by her striking and beautiful face.

Jiang Miaomiao also took a deep breath to relieve her inner tension.

Suddenly, a scalding, sweet liquid was splashed directly onto her back, making her shiver.

Jiang Miaomiao snapped out of her daze, reached back to touch her hair, and found her hair and back completely wet. Her gaze then shifted upwards, and she saw the culprit was a strange male student.

The other person hurriedly bowed and apologized, gesturing wildly as they explained that they had lost their balance while walking and had accidentally thrown the coffee they had just bought away.

Jiang Miaomiao shook her head helplessly, "It's nothing."

She casually put her laptop aside, then unbuttoned her suit jacket and prepared to take it off.

Just as she pulled her right hand out of her sleeve, someone grabbed her coat from behind and shoved it over her head, attempting to ambush her.

Jiang Miaomiao instinctively kicked backward, and the man stumbled back several steps before falling to the ground. He quickly regained his senses, grabbed her computer, and ran away.

"Stop!" Jiang Miaomiao shouted.

But the man seemed to have come prepared, and ran even faster, disappearing around the corner of the building ahead in just a few seconds.

Her heart sank.

She immediately grabbed him: "You two are accomplices, aren't you?"

"No! I didn't steal your computer, you should go after him!" Seeing Jiang Miaomiao's gloomy face, the male classmate quickly smiled awkwardly and said, "Then I'll go after him, okay? Let me go first, I'll definitely help you catch him!"

"Do you think I'm a fool like Hao Luwei?" Jiang Miaomiao said coldly.

The other party blurted out in shock: "Bullshit! Don't insult Junior Sister Luwei!"

A hint of crimson flashed in Jiang Miaomiao's eyes.

She just casually mentioned it, and it really is Hao Luwei!

"Miaomiao, it's your turn to come in and defend your thesis." Someone suddenly called out from the teaching building, but upon seeing Jiang Miaomiao's wet hair and the way she was grabbing someone, they quickly walked down the steps and asked seriously, "What happened?"

Jiang Miaomiao was furious at being schemed against like this: "Teacher, this person conspired with others. One person splashed coffee on me, and the other took the opportunity to sneak up and steal the computer containing my graduation thesis materials, preventing me from defending my thesis and graduating."

"You're lying! Teacher, I didn't do anything..."

Jiang Miaomiao grabbed the man's neck with one hand, the force so great that he couldn't breathe and his face turned red. "If you do, your whole family will die a horrible death! Okay?"

The other person was young, still a student, and was immediately terrified by these harsh words that would bring disaster to his entire family. He struggled in panic.

The teacher was at a loss for a moment, but seeing the male student struggling to breathe, she quickly advised her to let go to avoid causing any trouble.

After thinking for a moment, he suggested, "How about I call the security department to come and question him? You can postpone your defense today and go back to your dormitory to change your clothes."

“The security detail can come, but I don’t need to reschedule my defense, it has to be now!” Jiang Miaomiao replied, dragging the man directly into the lecture hall for the defense.
