The ending tone of Yun Xuchen's cold questioning was raised, like a sharp knife piercing straight into the heart of the legend.
Legend was so frightened by the horrible consequences he imagined that his whole body was shaking. He stretched out his other leg and knelt straight on the ground with both knees.
She raised her head and looked at Yun Xuchen timidly, her moist and red eyes full of fear and regret.
"It was Legend's fault. He failed to stop Jun Lan. He softened his heart after hearing his tearful words of missing him. He never expected to harm the Hall Master to this extent."
"Legend be damned! I am willing to bear any punishment."
My throat felt like it was blocked by something, and it was dry and painful. The words that came out of my mouth were trembling with tears.
Yun Xuchen ignored Chuanqi, who was kneeling on the ground and crying. He swung his sleeves hard and walked past him back to Liang Meng's bedroom.
Chuanqi knelt in the hall until the sun set. His body remained straight and motionless. His tears flowed as long as he knelt.
Only when the afterglow had stained the paper windows red and the sunlight that shone into the hall gradually receded did Yun Xuchen come out.
The coldness in his eyes had disappeared, and he returned to his former calmness and indifference.
He stood behind the legend with his hands behind his back and asked him to get up.
Legend stumbled to his feet, his bones crackling. He had been kneeling for so long that the pain in his knees pierced his heart the moment he straightened them.
Chuanqi didn't even hum a word, he just lowered his head, lifted up his sleeves and wiped the tears from his face.
Liang Meng's high fever subsided a little by the second day, his body stopped twitching, and he stopped mumbling.
But he still hasn't woken up.
Chuanqi stayed by Yun Nian's bedside while guarding Liang Meng.
Yun Xuchen said nothing about this. Except when feeding Liang Meng medicine, he rarely appeared in her bedroom.
On the third day, Liang Meng's fever subsided a little. Her flushed face returned to normal, with only her lips still tinged with paleness.
"What are you doing?"
Yun Xuchen fed Liang Meng medicine, and Chuanqi squatted obediently beside him.
The past two days, Yun Xuchen had left immediately after feeding Liang Meng the medicine. Today, after placing the medicine bowl on the table next to him, he stood by Liang Meng's bed again.
He stood facing Liang Meng, raised his arms, and placed his large, warm palms on Liang Meng's head, as if he wanted to control his spiritual power over Liang Meng.
Chuanqi quickly stood up and grabbed Yun Xuchen's arm, his face filled with anxiety and confusion.
Yun Xuchen pulled out his arm, and looked at Chuanqi with his lake-blue eyes, without any emotion at all.
"Use spiritual power to erase her memory."
Yun Xuchen's tone was light but firm.
It seems that erasing a person's memory is not a big deal, just as common as eating and drinking water.
"Absolutely not!"
Yun Xuchen had barely opened his mouth when he was interrupted by Chuanqi's urgent voice, which was so high-pitched that it sounded harsh and piercing.
He raised his hand again and grabbed Yun Xuchen's arm, the blue veins on his hand standing out.
"Last time, you consumed a lot of spiritual energy to save the hall master, so you had to go to the wilderness to recuperate."
"I...of course."
Yun Xuchen's eyes flashed dangerously twice at Chuanqi's words, and Chuanqi immediately realized that he might have expressed his meaning incorrectly. He hurriedly changed his words to make amends.
"Of course... that time, the life of the Hall Master was at stake, so I didn't hesitate to consume any amount of spiritual energy. But... but this time is different. It's just a name. Even if I still remember it after waking up... it won't matter."
"Forcefully erasing memories would severely damage one's spiritual power. Furthermore, the body would be harmed by the backlash of spiritual power. For... for a name that might be forgotten in a few days, no, there's no need... right?"
After understanding what Chuanqi wanted to express, Yun Xuchen's eyes suddenly became dangerous.
He stared at Legend with an oppressive look, and the ferocious look in his eyes, which seemed to indicate impending storm, made Legend shudder.
