Chapter 21 Unexpected News (Page 1/2)
The next morning, after the sky brightened, Frank returned to the square of the border town with his spoils.
He was too lazy to deal with the bodies of the bandits. In the wizarding world, any body exposed in the wild would be discovered by scavenging monsters like ghouls and evil spirits within a week and would soon be eaten up.
As for the village girl he rescued, Frank didn't even ask her name. He took out five crowns from his spoils and gave them to the village girl as a humanitarian concern. After escorting her out of the forest, he let her go home by herself.
As for what her future life would be like, who cares? Frank had no obligation to be responsible for it.
The return journey was quite smooth. The horse found in the bandit's den was a gray-brown mare that was a little old, with some loose muscles. It should be a pack horse. It
was probably used by a merchant to carry goods, but unfortunately ran into these bandits and became their spoils.
As the most commonly used means of transportation in the wizarding world, horses have always been quite expensive. Even a packhorse like this, which is a bit old, is estimated to cost about 30 crowns. You have to rely on luck, and it may not be available. Ordinary farmers can't afford it.
As a senior demon hunter, Frank's teacher owns a reddish-brown warhorse. It is his teacher's old friend, and they have traveled together in the north for many years.
He practiced riding on this warhorse. Although he is not proficient, it is enough for daily life.
And it is precisely because of these past memories that Frank, as a modern man, can control this packhorse and transport these spoils back to the town.
The blacksmith shop in the town square is not big. As a blacksmith shop in a border town, there is only a strong man with a bald head and a thirteen or fourteen-year-old apprentice working in it.
Faced with a large pile of scrap copper and iron, machetes, axes and other equipment brought back by Frank, the blacksmith immediately showed a look of embarrassment.
"Sir, our blacksmith shop is just a small business. We can't sell many items a day. You send so many old equipment at once, we can't handle it!"
"Besides, I don't have that much money to pay you."
Frank heard this and felt a little depressed. He killed more than 20 bandits and collected them all in the middle of the night. He couldn't just throw them away.
So he said impatiently:
"I'll sell them to you at a discount. If you don't have enough money, you can use some forging materials to make up for it."
"I need silver, steel ingots and leather."
The blacksmith boss seemed to be an honest man. He was stunned for a moment, and then asked:
"Sir, what equipment do you need? Why don't you let me make it for you? I'll give you a discount."
Frank wanted to make a silver sword. As a demon hunter, he didn't even have a silver sword on him, which was indeed a bit embarrassing.
However, this thing has a high technical content and is quite expensive. He didn't expect an ordinary border blacksmith to be able to make it.
But since the other party had already asked, he was too lazy to hide it. Anyway, he would leave the town soon, so he said directly:
"I want to make a silver sword for the demon hunter, but I don't have the specific drawings yet. Can you make it? It will be fine if it can be used as it is."
Upon hearing this request, the bald blacksmith scratched his head in embarrassment, stared at Frank for several seconds with the eyes of looking at a rare object, and then said naively:
