Chapter 44 Two Tools (Page 1/2)
This male troll might be a henpecked husband, or he loves his wife very much. He
was beaten and scolded by the female troll, but he didn't dare to resist. He looked at Frank very obediently, stood up his huge body, and staggered towards the demon hunter, saying as he walked:
"Hey! Human, do you want to cross the bridge?"
"We built this bridge. If you want to cross the bridge, you have to pay us a toll."
"Just give me ten pounds of food, as long as it's edible, any food will do."
"If you don't give me food, you are not allowed to cross."
"Otherwise we will beat you and lock you up."
After listening to the conversation between the male and female trolls, Frank immediately realized that these two stupid trolls must not have noticed that the bridge had been blocked.
The humans on both sides of the bridge were discussing how to deal with them. Now they have invited a swordsman like him, who must want to kill these two trolls to vent their anger.
But what surprised Frank was that these two trolls were quite intelligent. Although they spoke a little haltingly, they were much more fluent than those trolls recorded in many books.
Their intelligence had reached the level of mental retardation, even better than some disgusting nobles in the north, so there should be room for communication.
As a civilized person, it would be best if it could be resolved without fighting.
Frank's mind raced, and then he cleared his throat and said,
"Of course there is no problem with the bridge toll, but I don't want to cross the bridge."
"Troll, I want to ask you something. How is the human you caught before? Is he still alive?"
The male troll's brain was still very slow. After listening to Frank's words, it was stunned for seven or eight seconds, and then it understood what Frank meant. It said with a disappointed tone:
"Human, since you don't want to cross the bridge, then I won't charge you the bridge toll."
"Are you asking about the cheating human wearing a green hat before?"
Frank didn't know who the male troll was referring to, but he nodded and didn't refute.
After all, as far as we know, he is the only unlucky guy kidnapped by the trolls, and it is very likely that he is the nobleman.
After getting a positive reply, the male troll scratched his head, and seemed to recall for seven or eight seconds. Then, after being reminded by his wife, he patted his head and said:
"Oh! I remember that the cuckolded human is not dead!"
"We are all good trolls. We have always lived in the forest in the west and have never killed humans."
"But the cuckolded human is a liar. He obviously wanted to cross the bridge but didn't want to pay the toll."
"I didn't let him walk on this bridge. As a result, he gave us a bag of mud as the toll and lied to us that there was something delicious inside."
"After being caught by us, he said something about noble honor and revenge on us, which we couldn't understand."
"So, we locked him up and let him work for us as the toll."
Hearing this, Frank couldn't help but complain in his heart. This guy really asked for his own death and couldn't blame others.
If he had encountered other trolls with lower IQ and more barbaric trolls, the food cooked in the pot might have been the noble himself.
The nobles in the wizarding world always have a sense of self-importance, thinking that they are superior to others and looking down on other creatures without noble blood.
Demon hunters and warlocks are typically looked down upon by the nobles, and some conservative nobles even regard them as mutants and want to hang them directly.
They even think that even those monsters who only know how to destroy and live in the wilderness and underground should kowtow to the nobles and obey their rule.
No wonder he tried to cheat and be clever when facing two trolls who could easily take his life.
"Where is the green hat guy?"
"I will pay his toll. I can give you double the toll, as long as you hand him over."
Hearing that Frank was willing to pay double the toll, the male troll immediately looked at the female troll with surprise, as if he wanted to agree.
However, the female troll was obviously smarter than the male troll. She also moved her huge body and walked to Frank's side. She said with a tone of doubt and indignation:
