Chapter 50: Heart-moving Reward (Page 1/2)
Frank heard the words and looked in the direction pointed by Professor Connors.
With his demon hunter vision, he could see much more clearly than ordinary people.
It was indeed as the old scholar said, a dilapidated castle that looked quite old was standing alone on the top of the mountain.
The mountain was not high, and the terrain was quite steep. At the foot of the mountain was a lush forest, and a winding mountain road led directly to the top of the mountain.
On the flat top of the mountain, except for this road, the other three sides were all cliffs, which ordinary people could not pass through, and it was quite easy to defend and difficult to attack.
"Evil spirits and monsters?"
Frank murmured, which was a rather general term.
There are hundreds or thousands of monsters in the wizarding world, and the strength of each monster is different. From the sky to the ground to harmless to humans and animals, the strength gap is very large.
Only from the two words "evil spirits" and "monsters", it is impossible to measure the danger of this task.
"Can you explain this commission in more detail, Professor?"
"I must assess the danger of this commission before I can decide whether to accept it."
"As you can see, I am not one of those mercenaries who would disregard his own life for money."
"And demon hunters are not as powerful as you think. We just know more about monsters than ordinary warriors. We are also mortals and are not much stronger than them."
"And it is more difficult to protect a person from a monster attack than to kill those monsters directly."
"My suggestion is that you should either clear out the monsters in the castle directly, and then go get what you want when it is safe enough."
"Or, tell me what that thing looks like, and I will see if I can help you get it directly."
Professor Connors was obviously stunned when he heard Frank's suggestion.
Perhaps as a historian and a civilian, he did not think so clearly.
He thought that he should go to a dangerous place to retrieve something important in person, just like in some bards' stories, only in this way can it be more story-telling.
However, he quickly realized that instead of protecting an old man into a dangerous place, Frank's two methods were more practical.
"Oh, yes, yes! Mr. Frank, you are right."
"No matter what method you use, as long as you can bring out the thing I want."
"I don't require you to destroy all the monsters in the castle."
Professor Connors coughed lightly, and then continued:
"As for the information about this castle, I will tell you everything I know."
"About fifty-three years ago, my grandfather was a knight of Redania, and this castle was one of our family's businesses."
"At that time, as you know, the Kingdom of Redania and the Kingdom of Temeria had been in armed conflict over border issues."
"And Ox Castle, as an important academic city, has always been a target that the Kingdom of Temeria wants to occupy."
"My grandfather and his soldiers were stationed in that castle to support Ox Castle at any time."
"Unfortunately, during that time, the strength of the Kingdom of Temeria was more dominant."
"A large group of soldiers surrounded the castle. They couldn't take it down for a long time, and finally chose to set it on fire, burning my grandfather and the remaining soldiers under his command to death."
"About thirty people were all burned to death in that castle, and the items in the castle were also burned."
"Since then, many evil spirits and monsters have appeared in this castle, and no one dares to approach it anymore."
At this point, Professor Connors' face showed a trace of reminiscence and sadness, and continued:
"When I was a child, I lived in this castle for several years. My grandfather was the pride of our family. By my generation, due to personal reasons, our family had declined and there was no heir to inherit the family business."
"So, before I die, I want you to help me retrieve our family heirloom sword and my grandfather's bones so that I can bury him properly."
