In a luxurious room with several pottery pieces fixed on the roof, a female primitive who looked even older than the priest of the hunchbacked primitive tribe sat on a cushion woven from piles of straw.
She looks very old. Not only does her face have layers of wrinkles, but it also has many age spots.
Around her neck hung a string of beads, some of which were made of pottery, some of which were made of copper, some of which were made of stone, and some of which were made of bones...
Although the materials are different, the sizes are basically similar.
These beads are not particularly round, but each one looks smooth and shiny.
Especially those copper beads, which give people a shiny feeling even without sunlight shining on them.
This is the result of wearing it close to the body all year round and the old female primitive people always touching it with their hands when they have nothing to do.
Well, this behavior and its results can be summarized in two words: eat it!
The beads are large in size, so the size of the bead string naturally looks large as well.
However, such a large string of beads hanging on the neck of this old primitive man does not make people feel that he is thin, but instead gives people a feeling of complementation.
This is mainly because this female primitive is quite tall and has a lot of flesh on her body. Although she is old, she still has some flesh on her body. When she sits there, she weighs quite a lot.
According to the eyes of people of that era, this old primitive woman should be extremely beautiful, but no one thinks she is beautiful.
This is not because the aesthetic standards of people of this era have changed, but because she has no nose.
The place where the nose should be not only did not protrude, but it also sank a little, leaving only two black holes.
This makes her look very ugly, and some people even feel scared because of it.
This is something the witch of this tribe must go through.
If you want to become a witch in the tribe, you must cut off your nose.
Moreover, those who become witches cannot hide in the bushes with male primitive men like other female primitive men, and cannot give birth to their own children.
It is unknown when this tradition was passed down, and the people in the tribe do not know its purpose.
However, they still passed down these rules and strictly abided by them, and no one dared to violate them.
This fat, old-looking witch sat here, gently stroking the beads hanging around her neck with one hand, with an intriguing smile on her face.
Although she was old, she had sharp ears and could hear the conversation outside.
It was because she heard the conversation outside that she showed such an expression.
More exquisite pottery?
Pottery that is more exquisite than the pottery of your own tribe?
How is this possible!
Our tribe is the most powerful.
The pottery of my tribe looks so perfect, how could there be pottery more exquisite than that of my tribe?
People out there who say things like this are just really stupid.
She thought this in her mind and was about to ask the person from her tribe to ignore them.
As a result, the person from his tribe had already walked in, and seemed to be holding a small piece of pottery carefully in his hand.
The light from the door was blocked by the body of the person coming in, causing the pottery in his hands to be in the dark, so the witch couldn't see the appearance of the pottery clearly for a while.
Seeing the actions of this man from her tribe, she couldn't help but shake her head.
This guy is still no good. He actually believed what the person outside said so easily.
He said that their tribe had more exquisite pottery than his own. Is that true?
Why don’t you know how to distinguish it?
However, the man had already brought something in, so she didn't let him go out.
She was sitting here with nothing to do anyway, so it wouldn't be a big deal if she just took a look.
In such a mood, the man bent down carefully, mumbling something, and stretched out his hands forward to make it easier for their priestess to see this exceptionally exquisite pottery.
The witch listened reluctantly, and glanced at the pottery in his hand with a nonchalant look. After seeing the appearance of the thing clearly, she couldn't take her eyes away.
"#¥4@2..."
She spoke excitedly, and reached out to take the exquisite pottery from the man's hand, her movements more cautious than his.
She held the pottery in both hands, placed it in front of her eyes, and looked at it carefully, with all kinds of expressions flashing in her eyes.
There was shock, disbelief, and extraordinary love...
All the previous disdain disappeared.
Before this, she always thought that the things from her tribe were the best, especially pottery, salt and copper.
Except for their own tribe, the other tribes didn't even know how to make these things, let alone make pottery more exquisite than their own.
But now, there was such a piece of pottery in front of her.
As a shrine maiden, she is very familiar with pottery.
In their tribe, if one wants to become a witch, one needs to cut off one's nose before reaching adulthood. Then, the previous witch will call this group of people to a valley and secretly teach them how to make pottery, how to use things to make copper, and how to make weapons out of that beautiful copper.
After a long period of time, the one among them who has mastered these things best will become the next priestess.
As for the rest, they all became losers.
Losers have no power.
The price of their failure was that they had to stay in that valley forever, making these two things, and they could never leave the valley until they died.
As one of the best people at that time, the old witch was certainly no stranger to pottery making.
With just one glance, she could tell that this small piece of pottery was far superior to the pottery made by their tribe!
She held the exquisite pottery in her hands and looked at it carefully for a while. The more she looked at it, the more exquisite it seemed to her. The more she looked at it, the more she felt sincere admiration and respect for the person who made such pottery.
After holding it in her hand and looking at it carefully for a while, the old witch suddenly stood up from the cushion.
Then he moved his steps and walked towards the door at a fast pace.
A moment later, she walked out of the house and headed towards the group of hunchbacked primitives who were standing there waiting.
Looking at this old female primitive who had a lot of flesh on her body and was dressed very strangely, the hunchbacked primitive people were stunned for a moment.
They had never imagined that such a gorgeous house would house such a person.
The most respected witch in this powerful and wealthy tribe actually looks like this!
Not only the hunchbacked primitive man and his group were stunned, but the man who entered the room holding the pottery was also stunned for a moment.
Their witch actually walked out of the house again!
You know, the witches in their tribe generally won't leave the house easily after they become real witches.
But now, she walked out of the house without any hesitation.
What caused this behavior was the small piece of exquisite pottery brought by the tribe.
The old witch ignored the shock of these people. She walked straight to the front of the hunchbacked primitive people and raised her hand holding the pottery bowl.
"#¥45%..."
She began to speak, her voice was hoarse, and because she was too excited, she spoke a little quickly, which resulted in the hunchbacked primitive man not being able to fully understand what she meant.
It was not until the witch repeated it for the second time that the hunchbacked primitive realized that she was asking him where he got this precious pottery.
"#¥@3..."
The hunchbacked primitive man spoke and told the witch about their previous experiences.
The witch stood here and listened carefully.
After a while, the hunchbacked primitive man opened the package he was carrying and took out the gourd that was carefully wrapped in animal skin.
The gourd is filled with salt produced by the Qingque tribe.
Before, it was poured into a bowl by the priests of the hunchback primitive tribe, and when they set out from the tribe, they carefully poured it into the gourd.
The noseless witch gently placed the bowl in her hand on the ground, then reached out to take the gourd handed over by the hunchbacked primitive man and opened it carefully.
Then tip the gourd over and pour out the salt.
The salt crushed into small pieces by the mortar turned into a thin line and fell into the bowl along the mouth of the gourd.
The witch, who had been watching this scene without blinking, was shocked once again.
She put down the empty gourd, carefully picked up the bowl of salt with both hands, and looked at it carefully.
His eyes were full of surprise.
The salt was actually just as the hunchbacked guy had described, without any sand or soil.
This was the first time she had seen salt without sand.
As far as I can remember, the salt I have seen has always contained sand. Before this, I never thought that the sand in the salt could be removed, and it could be removed so cleanly.
Just like before she saw this exquisite pottery bowl, she had never imagined that pottery could be made so exquisitely.
She looked at it carefully for a while, then asked the person who came out of the room to fetch some water in a clay pot and get some firewood, so that she could boil water and cook directly on the open space.
Not far from Han Cheng, Fu Jiang, who had become a mother again, was squatting there, looking a little lazy.
Beside it, several furry, chubby little guys were playing with each other, looking clumsy, like a few balls of meat rolling around, which was extremely fun to watch.
These little puppies are at the age where they are timid and curious.
A little fellow noticed what Han Cheng was doing and found it very curious, so he stopped playing with the other puppies and stood there wagging his tail and looking with his head tilted.
After watching for a while, it seemed that it had not figured out what this strange-looking creature, which did not look like a dog at all, was doing, so it moved its short legs and dragged its round body towards this side, and used its little black nose to sniff a gourd seedling that Han Cheng had just watered.
Before its little nose touched the gourd seedling, the little guy flew into the air.
It was not Han Cheng who moved his feet, but the big dog Fu Jiang who came over, opened his mouth, bit the little guy's neck, and picked it up.
After carrying it away from the gourd seedling, he put the little guy down, and Fu lay down on the ground and continued to enjoy the warm sunlight.
The little fellow seemed extremely obedient when he was picked up by Fu Jiang, but after he got on all fours, he quickly became unobedient.
It stood there for a while, then shook its little head and continued to jump towards the gourd seedling happily.
Seeing this, Fu Jiang, who had just been lying on the ground, had to stand up again. When the puppy's nose was about to touch the gourd seedling, he opened his mouth again, picked it up, and took it away from here...
The place where the rice seedlings were planted had been arched into "bows" on the ground by Han Cheng, the second senior brother and others using not-too-thick sticks.
These rice seedlings are growing well, with some dark green color, and they look very healthy and have plenty of nutrients.
The seedlings planted using two different methods look similar, and it is hard to tell which method is better.
But one thing is certain: the seedlings grown using these two methods will definitely grow better than directly sowing shelled rice into paddy fields.
Looking at the emerald green seedlings in front of him, Han Cheng's mood became very good. The mood could be described as so beautiful that it was breathtaking.
After looking at the seedlings here for a while and carefully pulling out a few weeds mixed among the seedlings, Han Cheng left here with his hands behind his back and walked towards the east side of Jinguan City.
Because everyone has been committed to the development of paddy fields on the west side, the east side of Jinguan City has basically not been developed.
But this place will not be idle at all times.
After all the waters nearby that are easier to develop have been developed, Han Cheng plans to have people build some canals to direct some water here.
But in time, this place can be turned into a rice field and rice can be grown.
Because it is not too far from the water, the project will not be too large.
In fact, a piece of land has been opened up here. The area is not too large, about one acre.
This land has also been cultivated by people.
Unlike the flat paddy fields, people dug ditches here.
Nothing else was planted there; the ridges were filled with cut sweet millet stalks.
Han Cheng did not forget this good thing that can produce a lot of sugar. Last autumn, he had people cut down the mature sweet sorghum stalks across the water.
A small portion was taken to the tribesmen for tooth practice, and the rest was stored in cellars dug out of the ground and covered with sand.
When spring comes, some buds begin to grow on the sweet millet stalks.
While most people were busy working on the paddy fields, Han Cheng called out some people and, following some methods he remembered, spent two days burying the sweet sorghum stalks in the ground.
At this time, rows of tender shoots grew along the ridges, looking a bit like sorghum, and a bit like corn...
