Chapter Forty-Nine: The Fall of Desert City!

"..." Jiang Chu gasped.

Sis, you're so awesome!

If any other instructors heard this, they would be furious!

"Tch! You'd better be able to beat me first if you dare to try and steal my talent." Lin Han scoffed. "However, even if you put all the top students from the three prestigious universities together, none of them who can beat me, Lin Han, have been born yet!"

"..." Jiang Chu was speechless again, but he noticed that when Lin Han said this, no one around him showed any strange expression; instead, they remained calm and natural.

It seems that this is a fact.

Jiang Chu asked cautiously, "Then, where is the Governor?"

Lin Han's expression changed, and he said, "Except for Commander Luo, he's a madman! He was a king of soldiers a few years ago! A king of soldiers of his caliber could easily defeat 10 kings of soldiers like me! I can't compare to this freak!"

Jiang Chu felt like his world had completely collapsed.

Who would dare address Governor Luo Fei like that?! Probably only Lin Han would dare.

"Don't worry, he's not that petty!" Lin Han seemed to see through Jiang Chu's thoughts and said leisurely, "Brother Fei is a very good person, he loves his soldiers like his own children, especially the lower-level soldiers. However, if anyone makes a mistake of principle or disregards human life, then don't blame Brother Fei for sharpening his butcher's knife too quickly!"

Jiang Chu nodded slightly.

At this moment, the group reached the intersection of the next stop.

Lin Han frowned slightly and said, "Jiang Chu, we won't take you flying anymore. We can't protect you."

"Yeah, thanks, Sister Han. I've had a great day." Jiang Chu grinned. "I've already reached the sergeant rank! That's amazing!"

"I'm only thinking of myself! So, if you choose a different instructor as your mentor after you get into Longda, hehe, you're doomed!" Lin Han sneered, threatening him without any politeness.

"Kneel down before me, I'm scared to death!" Jiang Chu's knees buckled, and he almost peed himself!

"Get lost!" Lin Han scolded, "You little burden!"

His comrades all smiled, but everyone had a good impression of Jiang Chu, just for the fact that he dared to fight alongside Lin Han, which was commendable.

After Jiang Chu left, Lin Han turned around and asked, "Xiao Luo, do you think this child is suitable?"

“A bright future,” the adjutant said. “High growth potential, commendable courage, and a very sharp mind.”

"So, this kid has to be mine!" Lin Han said confidently.

"Sis, who would dare to take it from you!" Xiao Luo laughed.

...

"Chu'er, you're finally back!"

When Jiang Chu appeared before his parents and aunt more than ten minutes later, they were all very excited.

Seeing that both families were safe and sound, Jiang Chu breathed a sigh of relief and asked, "Cousin, were you alright just now?"

"Yeah, you were gone for less than two minutes and the battle was over. I even completed a top-tier D mission!" Wang Xuri said proudly.

Looking at Jiang Chu, the second aunt's eyes welled up with tears. She held Jiang Chu's hand and choked up, saying, "Chu'er, it's all my fault. I've been too fond of showing off. I've hurt your family a lot in the past. I'm so sorry!"

Jiang Chu smiled calmly and said, "Second Aunt, let's move on from this!"

Wang Ershuai also lowered his head and said with remorse, "Chu'er, if you ever need anything from your second uncle, don't hesitate to ask."

"Absolutely!" Jiang Chu said with a smile, "Now is the time to use your help!"

“Say it! Anything is fine!” Wang Ershuai said righteously.

"Come to my house and cook with my dad! It's been so long since I've had your braised beef!" Jiang Chu said with a smile.

"Good, good!" Wang Er said, tears welling up in his eyes.

He used to be a sharp-tongued man, always making fun of Jiang Chu, but today, after their malicious words, Jiang Chu put aside his past grievances and saved his aunt's life.

"Qiu, call your eldest and third sisters and ask them to come over for dinner!" Jiang's father said, looking at his son with gentle eyes.

My son has grown up, and he's grown up overnight. The son who used to argue with me about the incubation pod has now become the head of the family, and he's responsible and a true warrior.

...

On his way home, Jiang Chu consulted his parents and then called Jia Xiaoli.

Jia Xiaoli said that Luo Feng and Luo Xiaonan wouldn't be coming back, and that she and Luo Xiaobei would go to the Jiang family's house for dinner.

After hanging up the phone, Jiang's mother couldn't help but smile and say, "Meeting the in-laws ahead of schedule!"

"Mom, what are you talking about! Pumpkin and I are just buddies!" Jiang Chu said, annoyed.

"I don't believe it." Even the usually serious Jiang's father teased, "Xiao Nan is so great! She's much better than you. Our Jiang family is incredibly lucky to have married her!"

"And they even say their ancestral graves are emitting auspicious smoke!" Jiang Chu scoffed.

"Naughty!" Jiang's father slapped Jiang Chu on the back of the head and laughed in exasperation.

"By the way, why are you and Mom back so soon? Weren't we supposed to wait a few more days?" Jiang Chu asked.

After exchanging a glance, Jiang's father said, looking completely bewildered, "It was going to take a long time anyway, and this deal wasn't very big."

But for some reason, several big buyers suddenly appeared, including members of the Flame Legion, the Red Earth Legion, the Gale Legion, and even an officer from the Tianzhou Military Region, all of whom came to buy our ore.

Our entire inventory was cleared out in no time!

Jiang Chu was slightly taken aback: "There's something fishy going on here! It might be your friend, or... my friend."

Jiang's father said with a sigh of relief, "No matter whose friend it is, it's a good thing. We've sold all our ore, and your mother and I will no longer be in the ore business. This pot of gold is enough to raise you and for us to live on in our old age."
