Volume 8 Summary and Leave
In terms of plot, Volume 8 still accomplished my previous goals.
It explains the question of whether Chu Xianping should "rebel or not", gives a stage ending to the story of Li Zimu, Chu Xianping and Tang Chen, draws an end to the Seven-Nation War, and lays the groundwork for the development of the next plot.
Starting from the next volume, the pace of the story will speed up, and there probably won’t be any large-scale national wars (after all, I find that writing about wars is not my strong point).
And the perspective will no longer be too dispersed, and the narrative will basically revolve around Wei Changtian.
In fact, in the eighth volume, I have intentionally reduced the length of content devoted to supporting characters.
However, for the completeness of the story, some things must be written, so it may give some readers a feeling of "too much of a group portrait".
How should I put it? This writing style has both advantages and disadvantages.
After all, when I was writing about Youjia's plot, I asked everyone whether the story of the supporting character should be written more simply or more carefully.
The answers we got at that time were basically more detailed.
But now there are more and more important supporting characters, and it is difficult to balance the distribution of story length.
If you write less, the characters will not be three-dimensional enough, and they will eventually become mere tools, without leaving behind any memorable stories.
If there are too many chapters, Wei Changtian's role will be compressed, and sometimes he won't even appear for several chapters.
So, this is why Chu Xianping and Tang Chen want to leave.
To be honest with you all, it was inevitable for the two of them to leave Wei Changtian from a story perspective.
On the one hand, the plot has pushed them to this point and they don't have much choice but to leave.
On the other hand, whether it is Chu Xianping's wisdom or Tang Chen's ability to "read minds", they are actually a bit too abnormal.
If they continue to stay with Wei Changtian, it can be said that Wei Changtian will hardly encounter any problems that he needs to solve on his own.
The same goes for Qin Zhengqiu before. If he didn't leave, Wei Changtian would be invincible.
"Invincible text" may look cool, but I think it is too monotonous.
To put it bluntly, this type of novel is not essentially telling a story, but simply piling up exciting moments through some very forced logic.
It’s not that I can’t write a purely enjoyable novel. In fact, if I really write a purely enjoyable novel, even if it’s only at the level of the first volume, I will earn more money than I do now.
More importantly, this is very easy to write. Just let Wei Changtian pretend to be cool in various occasions, then get slapped in the face, then cause the next conflict, then pretend to be cool and get slapped in the face again. Just keep repeating this cycle over and over again.
But to be honest, I don’t think this can be called a “story”.
At the very least, for a novel of several million words, this kind of repetition is too boring.
So, even if it's not very pleasing, I would rather leave behind some memorable plots.
The above is what I wanted to say recently.
Although the updates in recent days are only one update each, they are long in words.
Starting tomorrow, we will resume the normal two updates.
Thank you again, dear readers!
I wish you good health and everything goes well!
