Chapter 101 You Are My Master

Seeing Xiao Jiu rushing towards him, Ling trembled. Just before Xiao Jiu could pounce on him, Ling reached out and stopped him.

"stop!"

Just as the two were about to collide, Zero suddenly called for a stop. Xiao Jiu stopped moving, feeling very aggrieved, and stood a meter away from Zero.

Authentic with eager eyes:

"Owner……"

Zero quickly waved his hand to interrupt him:

"Wait, let me sort this out..."

He's a bit confused right now.

Xiao Jiu immediately shut her mouth, giving Ling time to sort out her thoughts.

After a long while, Zero spoke:

"Um... you mean you weren't originally a Soul Eater, but were later devoured by it, and then you turned on it and are now free, is that right?"

His summary is probably correct.

Xiao Jiu nodded quickly, then shook her head, and said:

"Master, Xiao Jiu has always been yours..."

Zero said in a deep voice:

"No, the freedom I'm referring to is that you're no longer constrained, right?"

Xiao Jiu shook her head frantically and said:

"No, Xiao Jiu only listens to Master. Only Master can restrain Xiao Jiu."

"No, I mean... oh dear, what am I saying..."

Zero was also a bit confused by Xiao Jiu; what was all this about?

Xiao Jiu didn't care about anything else. Taking advantage of Ling's inattention, she stepped forward and hugged him again, murmuring:

"Master, I've finally found you..."

Zero was about to push him away and tell him that she was not his master.

Looking down, I heard Xiao Jiu sobbing and saw his shoulders trembling slightly.

Is he...crying?

Zero suddenly didn't know whether he should push that hand out.

In this situation, Zero still didn't quite understand what was happening, including what the relationship was between himself and the master that Xiao Jiu hadn't seen for thousands of years.

But now, he knew that what Xiao Jiu needed most was his comfort...

So, instead of pushing Xiao Jiu away, he patted his back without saying a word...

Zi You silently walked away at some point, leaving the two of them with space for silence.

After a while, Xiao Jiu straightened up from Ling's arms, her face returning to its previous pale color.

Looking at Ling's clothes, soaked with his tears, Xiao Jiu lowered her head in disappointment.

"Master, I'm sorry..."

Zero assumed he meant his clothes were wet, waved his hand dismissively, and laughed:

"It's nothing, just a piece of clothing."

Xiao Jiu, however, kept her head down.

When Zero looked at Xiao Jiu again, this boy who was more than half a head shorter than him, he noticed something different...

Xiao Jiu, however, didn't really listen to what Ling was saying and continued talking to herself:

"If it weren't for Xiao Jiu back then, Master, you wouldn't have... Fortunately, Xiao Jiu has found you now. This time, Xiao Jiu will never let Master get hurt again..."

Zero heard Xiao Jiu say something, but couldn't quite make it out. Curious, he asked:

"Huh? What are you talking about?"

Xiao Jiu raised her head, her eyes, now clear after the black aura dissipated.

He smiled at Zero, his eyes crinkling:

"Master, you haven't changed at all."

"Um?"

"You've always been like this; you habitually furrow your brow when you're deep in thought."

Was he talking about himself?

Or is it the master he has been separated from for thousands of years?

"Tell me, what kind of person is your master?"

Zero suddenly wanted to know what kind of person Xiao Jiu was talking about, and why Xiao Jiu was so dependent on him.

Xiao Jiu blinked in confusion, looking at Ling's familiar yet unfamiliar eyes, and said excitedly:

"Little Nine's master is you!"

"Forehead……"

It seems there's nothing wrong with it.

Looking at the boy in front of him who wholeheartedly regarded him as his master, Zero suddenly didn't know what to say.

"So, tell me, what kind of person was 'me' in the past?"

Ling rephrased the question to Xiao Jiu.
