Chapter 159 Li Su's Madness

Underground palace.

The dark road stretched as far as the eye could see.

A man walked into the hall, his steps hurried and his expression anxious.

"Master, all those humans have disappeared."

The man in black lowered his head and reported to the person in front of the hall.

Are you sure?

The man in the hall seemed somewhat skeptical, his tone as sinister and terrifying as the dark palace itself.

The man below trembled slightly and quickly replied truthfully:

“Absolutely true. The place is deserted and covered in dust. It looks like they've been gone for a long time…”

"You Tong, what do you think?"

Li Su ignored what the man said and instead looked at the black cat beside her, as if asking for its opinion.

You Tong straightened her cat-like body, jumped to the man below, and said seriously:

"If that's the case, why didn't you report it earlier?"

The man trembled even more violently, seemingly never expecting that a cat could actually speak.

He couldn't speak fluently anymore:

"This...Lord You Tong...this...I...a few days ago...it wasn't suitable for my investigation...I...I only just found out..."

He's new here, how come he's running into trouble right away, but he genuinely doesn't know anything about it...

You Tong narrowed her heterochromatic eyes slightly, scrutinizing the man for a while before finally turning and running towards Li Su, saying:

"Lord, he was one of those humans who voluntarily came to him."

"Oh? Is that so?"

Li Su seemed quite interested and turned to the man, saying:

"Tell me, why do you want to join us?"

The man didn't dare to look up and said in a muffled voice:

"Because...because you are powerful."

That's the truth. In order to survive, he chose to betray his companions and join the people who had captured them...

Li Su was clearly satisfied with the man's answer. He nodded and waved his hand, and the man felt a special force pulling him forward.

He was only put down when he was in front of Li Su, no more than three feet away.

"Look up at me."

A dark, deep voice reached the man's ears, and he felt a chill run down his spine.

I looked up instinctively, but was startled by the face in front of me.

Oh my god...

Can this still be called a face?

That face was unrecognizable; its original skin was long gone, and the entire face was pitted and scarred, with black and green patches, as if it had been scorched by a fire or corroded by a solution.

Not a single patch of skin was intact; just looking at it was nauseating.

The man swallowed hard, suppressing the urge to vomit.

"snort."

Li Su snorted coldly and with a slight movement of her hand, flung the man away.

She looked at the man with seemingly calm eyes and said:

"Doesn't it feel disgusting?"

The man hesitated, not daring to speak.

He endured the pain, got up, and knelt on the ground.

Li Su gave a stiff smile.

Let's call it a smile for now; you can't really tell if it's a smile on the face, only the slight movement of the corners of the mouth reveals some change.

"Aren't you curious about how I ended up like this?"

"Hmm? Answer me!"

The man trembled violently, filled with immense fear.

He desperately wanted to run away, but he also knew that if he dared to take a single step now...

What awaits him is becoming one of those inhuman, ghostly "monsters".

…………………………………………

He is human, a human living in the central region's base.

In the central region, technology is advanced enough that those mutated species pose no threat to them.

Therefore, they lived a very comfortable life.

Three meals a day are delivered to their door by dedicated personnel, there are dedicated personnel patrolling outside the city, and dedicated personnel researching inhibitors to combat the mutation.

Unlike those backward small towns, where people are constantly in danger and have no guarantee of food, clothing, shelter, or transportation.

But all of this was ruined by the arrival of a group of "weirdos"...

They stormed into the base, advancing relentlessly and seemingly invincible.

Those defense systems and high-tech weapons are like tickling them.

They are like ants, easily torn apart and easily defeated.

The loss of human bases was significant.

The base's leadership had no choice but to request reinforcements from headquarters, but at the same time the signal was sent, the base was completely crushed...

The "strange people" who broke in didn't kill them; instead, they took them to a dark underground place.

After several twists and turns, they arrived at the underground palace.

On their way here, a group of them had already decided to surrender to the other side.

And that's how the opening scene came about.

However, the owner here clearly wanted to test their abilities, so he assigned them the easiest task.

That was to investigate the situation of the remaining humans in the nearby base...

He then realized that they had crossed several districts and arrived at a rather impoverished border town.

They assumed the people here had already been captured, but when they received the mission, they learned that the humans here had actually managed to resist multiple times...

He readily accepted the task, a new idea forming in his mind.

He wants to wait and see.

If the people in this base could really handle the "weirdos" here, then he begged them to take him in.

If they cannot fight back, then his surrender will be the right thing to do.

He suffered no loss.

But to his surprise, his first mission failed.

There was no one left in that base area!
