With that in mind, they went directly to the Life Stone to observe its next move.
The tiny life stone seemed to contain enormous energy. With a leap, it jumped onto the Qilin totem, perfectly overlapping with its protruding nose!
In that instant, the totem, which had remained unchanged, seemed to come alive. The entire totem began to emit dazzling colors, as if the auspicious Qilin beast was about to rush out!
"What happened?"
"Let's take a look first."
The brief conversation ended after the totem's halo disappeared.
"This...this is..."
Zero and Ziyou were momentarily surprised as they looked at the door that suddenly appeared behind the totem.
"Let's go in and take a look."
Zi You, however, was about to step inside.
Ling grabbed him and said urgently:
"Wait, what if there's some danger inside... let's be careful..."
We definitely have to go in, but for safety's sake, Zero plans to observe for a while first.
Zi You looked at Ling's stubborn face, shook her head and chuckled. The life stone had reappeared in her palm at some point. She stretched out her finger and gently tapped the small stone, causing it to move around.
Zi You chuckled, her eyes crinkling as she said:
"I believe this little guy won't lie to us."
"Oh well."
Since things had come to this point, Zero couldn't say anything more, and simply said:
"I'm walking in front."
After he finished speaking, he stepped inside, followed by Zi You, who looked helpless.
This is a completely empty space, cramped and covered in dust. The four walls are all made of stacked stones.
I thought that with such a magnificent and grand totem, the space behind the door would be spacious and airy, but to my surprise, it was a closed space...
It's another enclosed space...
Not only Zero, but even Zi You, who was initially dismissive, began to have doubts. She looked suspiciously at the Life Stone in her palm, almost as if she wanted to smash it open to see what was inside...
"There must be a mechanism involved."
Zero said in a low voice.
Zi You nodded, agreeing with Zero's idea.
The life stone in her palm seemed to understand their words. It wobbled and jumped up again, finally stopping when it landed against a wall in the southeast.
Zi You stepped forward, her purple eyes flickering slightly, and guessed:
"Are you telling us that the mechanism is on this wall?"
For some reason, she seemed to be able to communicate with the little stone. She didn't know if it was because the little stone had recognized her as its owner after she cut her index finger and bled, or if the little thing inside it was guiding her...
Upon hearing Zi You's words, the Life Stone jumped even more excitedly.
At that moment, Zi You became certain of her idea.
"Zero, the mechanism is on this wall, let's look for it."
"good."
The two searched carefully on the wall.
However, the walls were constructed strangely, consisting of scattered pieces of stone, seemingly pieced together later, in a chaotic and disorderly manner...
After a long time, the two still couldn't find the location of the mechanism.
"This isn't a solution. These stones are distributed without any pattern. Are we supposed to pry them apart one by one?"
Zi You's lips twitched, and she leaned against the wall, saying helplessly, but her elbow accidentally bumped into a piece of gravel on the wall.
At that moment, Zi You felt that the stone felt wrong. She turned around and gave it a gentle push, and the stone flipped over.
Zi You's spirits lifted, and she looked at the other stones.
Can they all be promoted?
The two exchanged a glance, the meaning of which was self-evident.
The two then began a game of flipping stones...
After pushing the stones aside one by one, and after a while, when all the stones had been flipped over, a not-too-loud "boom" came from the edge of the wall.
Then, the wall slid open, revealing another secret room to the two of them.
"Found it."
They exchanged another glance, nodded in unison, and stepped into the secret room together.
A gaunt figure sat cross-legged, his hands and feet bound by heavy iron chains. Beside him lay an ancient scroll covered with words written in blood.
Upon seeing that figure, both Ling and Ziyou were secretly alarmed, but they could not sense any life force in that person.
"It must be a dead person."
Zero spoke solemnly.
Zi You frowned, looked at the little stone, then at the corpse, unable to understand why the Life Stone had brought them here...
Just as Ling was about to say something, suddenly, a phantom shadow emerged from the seated figure.
He raised his head, revealing an old face with empty eyes.
He stared intently at Zero, and even though his eyes were lifeless, Zero still felt a chill run down her spine.
Is this a ghost?
Zero stepped back and looked at Zi You, only to see that her expression was normal, as if she had not seen the phantom at all, and was still observing from the side.
Only he can see it?
Zero's heart skipped a beat, but he immediately straightened up. Since this was aimed at him, he'd deal with it. His spiritual power had recovered, and he wouldn't hold back anymore, letting himself be slaughtered...
From the moment the shadow appeared, an overwhelming and domineering power emanated from it, making the entire space feel cramped and dangerous, as if all things in heaven and earth had to submit to its feet.
Zero's legs were under immense pressure, as if it were forcing him to kneel down.
Zi You saw the unusual situation as Ling deep in thought, and assumed that Ling had discovered something. So she didn't disturb her and simply sat down to the side, playing with the Spirit Stone.
