Chapter Fifty: Reencounter with Dou Shen

Seeing that the Flower Goddess ignored him, the man wasn't annoyed. He picked up a teacup, took a small sip, and, looking at those still discussing, cleared his throat and coughed, saying:

“What you all say makes sense. It’s true that the Second Elder of the Ink Pavilion, Xuan Mei, doesn’t like the First Elder, Dou Shen. But Dou Shen is one of the Four Elders of the Ink Pavilion, so how could he not have a way to protect himself? I heard that after returning to the Ink Pavilion that time, not only was he not punished, but the higher-ups even made the Second Elder, Xuan Mei, apologize to the First Elder…”

"What's going on here?" everyone asked, puzzled.

"What else could it be? Xuan Mei must have tried to frame the Grand Elder and was now being interrogated."

"I think so too. Could this whole thing have been orchestrated by Xuan Mei to remove the Grand Elder from his position as the head of the Mo Pavilion Elders so she could take his place?"

"I can't say for sure, but something doesn't make sense..." Suddenly, someone seemed to realize something and muttered in confusion.

"What's wrong?" Everyone looked at him, waiting for his next words.

“Think about it, if it really was Second Elder Xuan Mei who orchestrated this whole thing, then here’s the question: if First Elder Dou Shen hadn’t gone to get that Twin Lotus, wouldn’t none of this have happened… So how could there be any talk of Xuan Mei framing him?”

When he said that, everyone agreed that it made sense.

Yes, if the Grand Elder hadn't taken the twin lotus first, Xuan Mei wouldn't have found out, and none of the subsequent events would have happened... So... it really was the Grand Elder who betrayed the Mo Pavilion?

"Ahem." The man who had spoken earlier coughed, and seeing the "let's see what you say now" looks on everyone's faces, he awkwardly touched his nose and said somewhat embarrassedly, "I was just really bored, so I told you all a story, just for fun, just for fun..."

If looks could kill, he'd be riddled with holes by now...

As everyone left, the space around the man became empty. He tidied up the table, looked at the Flower Goddess again, made a gesture, and slowly peeled off a layer of something from his face.

Isn't this Dou Shen, the Grand Elder of the Ink Pavilion? How did he end up here... and how did he recognize her?

While the Flower Goddess was puzzled, Dou Shen pointed to the hem of her clothes. The Flower Goddess looked down and saw that a petal had somehow gotten stuck to her clothes, and the petal was even glowing.

She considers herself the goddess of flowers, believing that all things have a spirit, and flowers are no exception.

Ordinary flowers bloom when touched, and revive when withered. These petals must have gotten on the demon realm by accident.

Ordinary people might not notice, or even if they did, they wouldn't realize anything, but people like Dou Shen, who have some abilities, can spot the clues.

She gently brushed away the petals, walked to the seat in front of Dou Shen, and asked softly, "What happened here? Is there news about twin lotus blossoms?"

Dou Shen nodded, gesturing for the Flower Goddess to sit down first.

He said slowly, "There have been many things happening in the demon realm recently, I'll tell you about them in detail later. As for the twin lotus flowers, I'm sorry, I couldn't bring them back."

He paused, then continued, "When I returned to the place where I had hidden the Twin Lotus, Xuan Mei found out about it beforehand and took the Twin Lotus away. She then attacked me, but was stopped by the Third Elder Chongwu who arrived in time. So I went back to the Ink Pavilion, relinquished my identity as an elder of the Ink Pavilion, and now I am free of worries."

After hearing this, the Flower Goddess asked, "What was the situation with your previous message?"

Dou Shen asked in confusion, "Message? I didn't send you a message..."

Who was it that sent her the signal, luring her to the demon realm...?

What else is there that she doesn't know...?
