Chapter Sixteen: The Dimensional Capital

Dimensional Capital is another space, a special city accessible through the portal of Zero Space.

The people in this city possess a variety of abilities. Some specialize in construction, some are skilled in metallurgy, and some are experts in medicine...

And on the outskirts of this capital city, teeming with extraordinary talents, lies the Sunset Forest, a place of both adventure and peril.

Sunset Forest is mostly filled with rare herbs, ores and gemstones needed to craft weapons and equipment, as well as various exotic beasts.

The outer edge of the forest was only covered with herbaceous plants, which were unnecessary; he needed to go to the inner edge of the forest.

The inner perimeter of the forest is rich in resources, including rare earth metals, which are essential for zero.

Rare earth metals are the second most reactive metals after alkali metals and alkaline earth metals, and are more reactive than other metal elements. They can combine with a variety of elements.

Weapons made from scratch require steel, but steel contains harmful low-melting-point elements such as phosphorus, arsenic, tin, antimony, bismuth, and lead. A certain amount of rare earth elements can interact with these elements to form compounds with higher melting points, and can also suppress these deviators that are mixed in on the grain boundaries.

He had been to this place several times in the world before Zero, so he was quite familiar with the routes here.

Along the way, they encountered many strange beasts. Zero tried his best not to disturb them. If he encountered them, he would take a detour. If he couldn't take a detour, he would pass by quickly. So they lived peacefully.

Just when he thought he had a smooth journey and was about to safely reach the inner edge of the forest, something strange happened—

A rustling sound rang out, and Zero subconsciously looked in the direction from which the sound came, silently preparing his weapon.

With a "whoosh," a fire fox darted out of the grass. The fire fox had a pair of dark, bright eyes, full of agility.

It just stared at Zero without making any movement, its eyes wide open, watching him.

Seeing that it didn't make any move, Zero was about to turn around and leave, but it ran away before he could.

Feeling a little puzzled, Zero didn't dwell on it and continued forward.

Not long after they moved forward, the rustling sound started again. This time, Zero turned around early to see what would happen.

Um?

Another fox? This time it's a snow fox.

Zero couldn't help but wonder—how could the fire fox, which belongs to the Crimson Plains, and the snow fox, which belongs to the snow mountain peak, appear here?

That's right, there are three more territories outside the borders of the Dimensional Capital: the Northern Snow Mountain, the Southern Crimson Blaze, the Western Mingqu, and the Eastern Dimension.

How could strange beasts that should appear in the south and north be here?

Just as Ling was pondering, more and more strange beasts that did not belong to this place ran towards him.

Despite their large numbers, they did not move in the chaotic manner of a beast tide. Their movements were very orderly, more like an army, or as if they were being commanded and led, as they advanced toward their goal.

Wait, the target... is him?

By the time Zero realized what was happening, they were already right in front of him, densely packed, completely surrounding him.

Zero carefully recalled his previous actions.

Putting aside the fact that these strange beasts all came from the other three lands, and that he had not provoked any creatures here along the way, Zero truly could not understand his actions this time.

However, they did not seem to show any intention to attack Zero; they simply surrounded him and watched him.

Zero looked into their eyes, so clear and pure, and saw himself reflected in them.

Suddenly, the beasts in the front circle raised their heads and let out a soft howl, and then one by one they all began to howl, gradually retreating outwards from the last row, leaving a path in the middle.

This means... he's being told to leave?
