Chapter Twenty-Eight: Lotus Realm

As the sun sets, the car speeds towards the clouds.

"One...two...three...hide well, I'm coming to find you!" A soft, sweet child's voice rang out.

"Okay." came the affirmative reply from the other side.

His dark, bright eyes sparkled, reflecting the naivety that should be present in someone his age.

The afterglow of the setting sun falls on the wooden swing that sways gently in the breeze, pure white and bright.

The girl jumped off the swing. Seemingly casually, she called out into the distance, "Are you hidden?"

One boy immediately replied, "It's hidden!"

Her naivety and innocence drew a sneer from a boy on the eaves: "Idiot."

The little girl in charge of the search chuckled, her white floral dress fluttering in the wind, her toes lightly touching the ground, each step seemingly creating a lotus flower.

She walked on lotus leaves, following the sound, and asked as she searched, "Is it hidden well?"

"Hidden well!" This time the voice was much louder, and it had a childlike crispness to it.

The boy on the eaves, however, no longer wanted to watch. With a flick of his sleeve, he leaped down from the eaves.

A gentle breeze blew, and with a slight turn, she sat down at the Four Treasures Table.

With a flick of his wrist, a teacup landed in his palm.

Despite her young age, she is incredibly skilled at tea tasting – warming the cup, taking the tea leaves, waking the tea leaves, brewing the tea, and pouring the tea – all done flawlessly.

The boy sipped his tea, but his eyes kept glancing to the other side...

The little girl walked faster and faster, getting closer and closer to her goal.

The lotus stopped, the sound faded.

"Found you!" A joyful voice rang out as the girl reached out her hand to the boy below.

Taking the lotus petals, the boy jumped out from under the ditch. His clothes were wet and stained with a few lotus petals; he looked a little disheveled, but he still sincerely praised, "Sister Flower is amazing!"

The little girl frowned at him, her voice soft with worry: "Go and get ready, or you'll catch a cold again."

The little boy touched his head, revealing two rows of teeth that hadn't fully grown in yet: "It's okay, it's not the first time I've done this, it's just... this time I messed up Sister Lotus's flower channel again..." He became less and less confident as he spoke.

The little girl gave him a disapproving look, then glanced at the boy who was sipping tea and watching them with amusement.

She clapped her hands and said to the little boy in front of her, "Acheng, if my sister comes back later, you can say that he messed up her flower trough!" She pointed to the boy who was quietly watching the show from the side.

"Why should I?" The boy stopped sipping his tea, stood up, and walked towards the girl, but his voice was directed at the little boy next to her.

“Because you’ve been watching the show the whole time,” Acheng muttered.

"Hmm?" The boy stared at him for a long time, then sighed helplessly, "Fine, go change your clothes."

No sooner had he finished speaking than a "sneeze" was heard. Looking over, I saw Ah Cheng turn around in a panic, wiping something with his hands.

The boy jumped up in a huff, pointing at A-Cheng and yelling, "Here we go again! Here we go again! Are you going to mess with me again? You never stop when you're sick. Sometimes I really wonder if you're the son of a god... They say gods don't get sick, but you're a real exception. If you're not a god, you've eaten a whole vat of magic pills and haven't overdosed on them, bleeding from all seven orifices and exploding to death!" The boy rattled off a whole bunch of things in one breath. He paused, catching his breath, and looked at A-Cheng, who was hanging his head as if "confessing," and said through gritted teeth, "If you're a god, what god is as stupid as you? You know you have a special constitution, yet you still go soaking in the water. And another thing! Are you really missing a screw in your head? Who plays hide-and-seek and openly announces that they're hiding? Are you afraid people won't know where you are?"

At this point, he seemed to realize he had been too emotional, so he softened his tone and looked at A-Cheng, who was still "confessing," and tried to comfort him: "But you were quite smart this time, knowing you would get sick, it's a good thing that you had Hua-Hua find you in advance, at least you'll suffer less later..."

Acheng, who was "repenting," suddenly stirred. He raised his head and said weakly, "No...no, I...I didn't know I would get sick. Sister Huahua found me quickly...Sister Huahua is indeed amazing..." After saying that, he fell backward.

The boy felt a sense of disappointment and frustration upon hearing Acheng's "unrepentant" words.

Was he saying Hua Hua was amazing? He was indirectly saying she was stupid!

Just as he was about to chat with him a little more, he saw a figure descending straight down. He shifted his feet slightly and caught the figure before it fell.

Hua Hua, who had been watching for a long time, was not very moved by this, as if she was used to such things. She said indifferently, "This time, Your Highness will have to trouble you again. My troublesome younger brother should suffer more, otherwise he will not learn his lesson."

The boy responded and tentatively asked, "Are you now... the Lotus Goddess?"

The girl nodded and left, her steps still shimmering like lotus blossoms, yet the lotuses shimmered with golden light. Though her back was soft and graceful, it exuded an air of haughty pride.

The boy watched respectfully for a while, then looked at the little boy in his arms, and with a wave of his hand, the two disappeared from the Lotus Realm.

The lotus flowers in the pond have already bloomed.
