Chapter 10 The Indestructible Cockroach

I nodded: "That's true. This method can only stall them for the time being. So when should we make our move? They have people guarding us right now, so it's not convenient for us to go and drive."

Ji Lin'an smiled slyly: "Want to do something exciting? Zhu Chen may seem like a clueless person, but it's not easy for him to survive for so long. Keeping him around is ultimately not safe."

I asked, "How do you plan to resolve this?"

Ji Lin'an said, "We'll have Zhu Chen and the others follow us. When you get to a place with lots of zombies, you shoot out their tires. You were regretting not being able to shoot them when you got up there, right? Now you can finally be the female lead in a gunfight movie."

I clapped my hands and exclaimed, "Great! Great! That pistol isn't enough, I'll use your gun!"

Ji Lin'an put down the fruit plate and took out his phone: "Okay, but you have to hold it firmly. This gun has a lot of recoil. It's okay if the gun falls, but if you fall, you're done for. Come down immediately after you run out of bullets."

I excitedly agreed: "Okay, I'll try my best, haha."

After saying that, Ji Lin'an and I teleported back to the villa. As soon as we left, we saw Zhu Chen and A-San hiding in a car not far away. We pretended to be chatting and laughing as we drove off, but after driving out of the complex for a while, we still hadn't seen Zhu Chen's car. Just then, a gray SUV approached from the front. I glanced in the rearview mirror and saw Zhu Chen's car; they were planning to ambush us. I held my gun, my hands sweating profusely. Ji Lin'an opened the sunroof...

Ji Lin'an said seriously, "The plan has changed. In a moment, you should aim directly at the driver's seat. My car will accelerate. Find a good foothold and stand firmly before you start shooting."

I held my gun tightly and nodded. The sunroof was only slightly open, just enough for me to stick my body out and secure myself. As the SUV in front drew closer, I leaned out, kneeling on the center console with one leg and hooking the other foot onto the seatbelt. I raised my gun, aimed at the driver's seat of the gray SUV, and fired in rapid succession. After countless shots, I saw the gray SUV's windshield covered in blood as it swayed wildly from side to side and crashed into a tree by the roadside. Seeing that I had dealt with the car in front, I immediately turned around and opened fire on Zhu Chen's car. But when I turned around, Zhu Chen's car was gone. I looked around, but there was no sign of them. I returned to my seat, still somewhat shaken.

Ji Lin'an looked at him with worry: "Zhu Chen and the others turned the car around and ran away immediately after you fired the shot."

I wanted to answer Ji Lin'an, but my emotions wouldn't allow me to speak. I felt my whole body trembling, and my chin and chest ached terribly.

Ji Lin'an frowned and reached out to check my injuries: "Are you alright? Let's go back first."

I calmed myself down for a minute: "No, it's nothing, ouch!"

As soon as I spoke, I felt a sharp pain in my chin. My instinctive reaction was to cover my mouth with my hand. It was already difficult to speak, so I could only use my eyes to signal Ji Lin'an to go back while still holding my chin. Ji Lin'an immediately found a more secluded place to park the car. I struggled to call out "Back, back, back".

When I got home, I typed to Ji Lin'an on my phone: My jaw hurts and I can't speak.

Ji Lin'an raised her hand and gently touched my chin: "What kind of pain is it? Try to open your mouth and bite down."

I heard Ji Lin'an open his mouth, but before he even opened it, the mere attempt to do so caused tears to stream down my face.

Ji Lin'an gently pinched my chin: "Does it hurt?"

I shook my head, and Ji Lin'an stroked my chin again: "It's probably dislocated."

I opened my mouth slightly and made "ah ah ah" sounds to indicate what to do. Ji Lin'an took out his phone and searched for many videos on how to reset a dislocated jaw. I sat there blankly, unable to close or open my mouth. My mouth was drooling uncontrollably, but I couldn't swallow it. I could only tilt my head and stuff my mouth with tissues. After half an hour, Ji Lin'an told me to sit up. After trying many times, he finally reset my jaw. I could close my mouth, but it still hurt, and I could barely speak. Ji Lin'an took out a first-aid kit and wrapped bandages around my jaw and head. After wrapping them around many times, he tied a bow on my head.

Ji Lin'an sat up straight and looked me up and down: "Is there anything else that's bothering you?"

I pointed to my chest and pouted.

Ji Lin'an sighed softly: "Sigh, it was my oversight. You've never used a rifle before. The recoil is too strong. Even a single shot could cause injury if you don't control the distance and position properly. What's more, you were using continuous fire. You were too excited and nervous and didn't notice that the gun bounced back and hit your chin and chest. Luckily, it was just a dislocation. If it had been a fracture or crack, it would have been difficult to handle."

I typed: I've used it in the game, hehe. How did you know I had a dislocated shoulder? Have you studied medicine?

Ji Lin'an gently patted my head: "You have such a good attitude. Once, when I was camping with my friends, they laughed so hard that their jaw dislocated. We were in the mountains and couldn't get to the hospital in time. I had to call an ambulance and the emergency room operator showed me how to feel it with my hands to confirm the dislocation."

I typed: Wow, you're amazing! You learned it all over the phone.

Ji Lin'an looked at me seriously: "Observe the changes in the pain in your chest over the next two days. If it's just a simple impact pain, it may get better in a day or two and the pain will gradually lessen. If it gets more and more painful and you can't bear the pain, you must tell me in time."

I nodded in agreement.

Ji Lin'an got up, pulled me up from the sofa and pushed me towards the stairwell: "Alright, enough chatting. Your chin will need two or three weeks to recover. You must have been scared today because it was your first time firing a gun at a creature other than a zombie. Go upstairs and get some sleep. I'll make you some liquid food and call you down to eat when it's ready."

For some reason, I suddenly wanted a hug. My arms unconsciously opened towards Ji Lin'an. Ji Lin'an hesitated for a few seconds, then stepped forward and hugged me, gently stroking the back of my head. The moment Ji Lin'an hugged me, my nose tingled, and a lot of complicated emotions welled up in my heart. Since Ji Lin'an and I became partners, apart from the time I cried because of Ji Lin'an's death in the future scene, this was the first time I wanted to cry on my own. I didn't dare to think about what happened to the person in that gray SUV. If they really died, then this would be the first time I had truly killed someone. Just thinking about this made me shiver. Ji Lin'an felt it, lowered his head and gently kissed my head. My hands, which were on Ji Lin'an's back, involuntarily tightened around his clothes. Realizing what had happened, I quickly pushed Ji Lin'an away, lowered my head, pointed upstairs, and ran upstairs.
