A couple of sips of borscht were indeed appetizing, but after a few bites of pasta, I still felt a bit greasy. I picked up a few slices of bread from the plate and ate them with the borscht. After finishing, I didn't ring the bell immediately. I turned to look at the Ji family home. The decor was unique; there wasn't a single decoration or ornament in the house. It was minimalist, yet it looked high-end and elegant. I stood up and strolled around the living room. The Ji family home was really deserted, making me feel inexplicably cold. There wasn't a trace of human warmth. I shrugged and returned to the dining table, ringing the bell. A moment later, the man came over.
He stood respectfully in front of me and said, "Miss Su, please come with me."
I stood still, looking at him and saying, "I haven't even asked your name yet."
The man straightened up and smiled slightly, "Miss Su, you can call me Butler Ji."
Also surnamed Ji? This is the first time I've seen such a young housekeeper. In my memory, housekeepers are all elderly men and women in their fifties or sixties.
I smiled politely at Butler Ji and said, "Then I'll have to trouble Butler Ji."
Butler Ji led me from the living room corridor to the elevator. The elevator was already open and stopped on the first floor. Butler Ji put one hand behind his back and reached into the elevator with the other. After I entered the elevator, Butler Ji followed me in. He pressed the button for the third floor and stood sideways by the elevator. I looked at Butler Ji's profile and felt a strange sense of familiarity. Could it be that Ji Lin'an and the Ji family really have a relationship?
The elevator arrived quickly. I followed Butler Ji out of the elevator, turned into the corridor, and walked for a while before arriving at a room. The Ji family's house didn't look big, but it was at least twice the size of our house. The front and back corridors combined were probably about thirty meters long.
When we arrived at the door of a double-door room, Butler Ji spread his palm and placed it vertically on the door lock. The lock immediately lit up with a green light, and a few seconds later the lock beeped open. Butler Ji did not immediately lead me in, but instead pressed a few buttons on the lock and turned to me, saying, "Miss Su, let me record your palm print."
I obediently placed my hand in front of the door lock, and after a few moments I heard several notification sounds saying the registration was successful. Only then did Butler Ji lead me into the room. The room was a suite, and I could see the general layout from the doorway. Upon entering, there was a corridor connecting several rooms. To the left was the living room, and to the left of the living room was a small tea bar. To the right was a simple office area, and in the middle was the bedroom, with the bathroom next to it.
Butler Ji led me into the bedroom and opened the wardrobe door: "Miss Su, Mr. Bai gave us your clothing size and style before you came. These are what we bought this morning. Are you satisfied? If not, we will buy you new ones."
I looked around the wardrobe that Butler Ji had opened. It was mostly white and light pink suits and dresses, and loungewear. I figured I probably wouldn't be going out, so having clothes to wear was fine. I thanked Butler Ji, and just as he was about to leave, I called out to him, "Butler Ji, I want to ask you about someone."
Butler Ji smiled respectfully and said, "Miss Su, please speak."
I blurted out, "Do you know Ji Lin'an? Or have you ever heard of this name?"
After pausing for a moment, Butler Ji hesitated and said, "This name sounds very familiar, but I just can't remember it for the moment."
I smiled somewhat disappointedly: "It's alright, I was just asking casually. Tell me again if you remember." Butler Ji smiled politely and left the room, making sure to close the door behind him.
There was a computer on the living room desk. I walked over to the computer and turned it on. The computer didn't have a password, and the Wi-Fi connected automatically after booting up. I opened a webpage, thought for a moment, and entered Bai Cheng's name. The results showed: Bai Cheng, General Manager and Shareholder of Bai's Group, and Shareholder of Tomorrow Future Company.
Tomorrow's Future? Isn't that the company I saw in the illusion? This company must be the one that led me into the illusion. Bai Cheng has become the largest shareholder, holding 55% of the shares.
I clicked on the entry for Tomorrow's Future, and the content stated that Tomorrow's Future Company is dedicated to creating a new world of consciousness, allowing those in need to enter their developed products with their consciousness to start a new life. After entering Tomorrow's products, regardless of whether they are disabled or near death in real life, they will become healthy after entering...
I clicked on Tomorrow Future's homepage and immediately saw a slogan: Tomorrow Future, enabling every ALS patient to have a happy life.
I couldn't help but frown, a wave of disgust washing over me. Bai Cheng and his gang were truly despicable. They used such a guise to get more people to willingly send their consciousness into their products, but behind the scenes, they were sending those consciousnesses into an endless abyss. I became even more convinced that I had to find a way to expose their conspiracy.
I sent a message to Grandpa Bai, telling him what I wanted to do, but Grandpa Bai replied: Su Su, you stay at the Ji family first, Dad will arrange everything.
I could only silently agree. During dinner, Butler Ji called me through the landline by the bed to ask where I was having dinner. I thought about it and was too lazy to leave the room, so I asked Butler Ji to bring dinner to the room. After dinner, I turned on the TV, but none of the news channels had any news that interested me.
Just as the weather forecast finished, Butler Ji knocked on the door: "Miss Su, Mr. Ji has returned and would like to see you."
I quickly agreed, rinsed my mouth and tidied my hair in the bathroom, and then followed Butler Ji downstairs. As soon as I got downstairs, I saw another man dressed similarly to Butler Ji carrying a suitcase upstairs. Looking at Mr. Ji from afar, I felt a sense of oppression. Mr. Ji had a strong aura and a head of black-gray buzz cut, which did not look like an old man in his fifties or sixties who was about to go bald. It gave me the illusion of meeting a mafia boss.
