Chapter 145 The Dust Settles

We called the police on the grounds that Tomorrow Company was illegally detaining people. I said into my earpiece, "Ji Kang, I've already called the police. Just hold on a little longer. Bai Cheng must have some connections to have been able to run the company for so many years. So when the police go up, they won't have any real evidence and will just ask a few questions. Just find a way to get out of here. I'll handle the rest."

Ji Kang patted his chest to indicate that he understood. The police were indeed very efficient. Two police cars arrived in less than ten minutes. After the police got in, they went straight to the center of the space capsule. It seems that there are people in the police station who are associated with Bai Cheng. Otherwise, how would they know that Bai Cheng was in the center of the space capsule? Someone in the police station must have contacted Bai Cheng's people to go straight to Bai Cheng's location after the police were dispatched.

When the police arrived at the center of the space capsule, Bai Cheng calmly turned around and greeted the officers: "Officers, what brings you here?"

Bai Cheng stepped forward and shook hands with the police officer standing at the front, but the officer ignored him and said, "Someone reported you for illegal detention. I'm here to find out what's going on."

Bai Cheng looked around and said, "Illegal detention? How could that be? Every client here has signed a voluntary agreement. There is no illegal detention. Officers, you can check them all. You can see the agreement for every client."

The police looked around and randomly found a capsule, demanding that Bai Cheng find the person's identity information and agreement for review. Bai Cheng instructed his men to retrieve the file, and Ji Kang took the opportunity to walk out, but was stopped by Bai Cheng's men after only a few steps. Ji Kang shouted, "What are you doing?"

The police officer immediately turned to look at Ji Kang, who looked at the officer with an innocent expression: "Officer, I'm just here to visit, but they won't let me leave."

Several police officers immediately turned and frowned at Bai Cheng. Bai Cheng glared at the two men who were blocking Ji Kang and said, "Why are you stopping him? Are you crazy?"

The two subordinates immediately stepped back to make way, and Ji Kang respectfully smiled at the police officers, saying, "Then you officers can continue with your case; I won't disturb you any longer."

As Ji Kang spoke, he suddenly remembered something and took out a business card from the inside pocket of his clothes and handed it to the policeman: "This is my business card. If you need anything, please feel free to contact me."

After the police officer took the business card and nodded seriously, Ji Kang turned and left, quickly entering the elevator. Before the elevator reached the underground parking lot, two people appeared from the other side. They were the people who had searched Ji Kang's car earlier. They got into a car, one of them watching the elevator entrance and the other watching Ji Kang's car. It seemed that Bai Cheng had sent someone to follow Ji Kang.

I immediately said into the earpiece, "Get in the car as soon as you get off. Don't look this way. Bai Cheng has sent people to follow you. We'll go ahead first, and you can follow our car from behind."

After Ji Kang coughed lightly, the elevator reached the underground parking lot. After Ji Kang got into the car, we quickly started the car and drove towards the exit. Ji Kang also quickly followed us. We could see Bai Cheng's people coming out from the rearview mirror.

We drove towards the city center, which is mostly one-way streets. If you take a wrong turn, you can't turn back. After driving around the city center several times, we finally shook off Bai Cheng's men at a traffic light. We parked the car in a small alley, and I got out and said to Ji Kang, "You're safe now. Go back to the Ji residence first. In fifteen minutes, send Bai Cheng a message saying you know where your brother is, so he doesn't need to waste his time looking for him. Also, tell him that my dad has sent me abroad and I'm on my way to the airport, flying to Bangkok."

After settling Ji Kang in, we returned to Tomorrow Company. Ji Kang sent a message to Bai Cheng as I had instructed. A short while later, we saw Bai Cheng and his assistant rushing downstairs. Bai Cheng whispered a few words to his assistant at the parking lot entrance, and then the two got into two separate cars. As expected, Bai Cheng should be heading to the airport now, and his assistant will go to find Ji An.

Before calling the police, I spoke with Old Master Bai on the phone. Although all of the Bai family's businesses are in China, the head office is located in Bangkok. The Bangkok company is just a shell company, but if I take over the Bangkok head office, I can return to China and take over the entire Bai Group. This was something Old Master Bai had arranged many years ago.

After Bai Cheng's assistant got into the car, two other people quickly followed. The assistant hurriedly drove off, and we followed behind. Soon, the car arrived at a deserted residential area. The assistant stopped at the entrance and headed straight for the security booth. We stopped a short distance away, and I quickly told my bodyguard to take off his black coat and follow the assistant. The bodyguard walked to the entrance and pretended to look for his access card. The assistant pulled the security guard into the booth and said something, completely unaware of the bodyguard's movements. After a while, seeing that the assistant seemed to have finished talking, the bodyguard immediately turned around, scratched his head, looked at the ground behind him, pretending to look for something, and walked away from the assistant and the people in the assistant's car, quickly returning to the car.

I quickly asked, "What did you hear?"

The bodyguard nodded: "The assistant asked the security guard if anyone had come looking for Ji An recently, and the security guard said no, and that he hadn't seen Ji An come out of the community."

I frowned slightly. I hadn't seen Ji An come out of the residential area? That meant they knew Ji An was in this area, but they hadn't caught him. Most likely, they didn't know which apartment Ji An was in. I looked up at Bai Cheng's assistant. After getting into the car, he made a phone call, probably to Bai Cheng. After hanging up, he started the car. We continued to follow, and after watching the assistant's car return to Bai Cheng's company, we left as well.

If Ji An really is Ji Lin'an, then he should have retained his last memory like me, which is why he chose to escape. However, he chose to do something more important than finding Ji An.
