Chapter 2 Unlocks a New Partner

I got home at six in the morning, having already completed the third day of teleportation check-in. Unable to sleep, I opened Future Island.

To a minor illness, one might say: "Minor illness, minor illness, it's a lucky one."

The minor illness replied: "The minor illness is here, matching you, please wait."

A few minutes later, the match was successful, and the screen displayed the profiles of over a dozen virtual avatars of the lucky winners, along with their acquired skills. I carefully examined each one: Lucky Winner #1: Clairvoyance; Lucky Winner #2: Telekinesis; Lucky Winner #3: Treasure Chest. When I saw the Treasure Chest, I lost all interest in looking further. It seemed like they had everything they could want, no shortage of food or clothing. Suddenly, my Anywhere Door didn't seem so appealing anymore. I immediately clicked "Match," and the system message read: "Match application sent. Please wait for the matching result." Does it even need the other person's approval?

I asked Xiaobing, "What are the matching rules for the lucky ones with minor illnesses?"

"Master, Master, the lucky one can choose a partner they want to match with and apply for a match. If the application is successful, the match will be completed. If the match fails, it means that the other party has rejected your match application. You can apply for a match again after 24 hours." If I keep getting rejected, won't I never be able to open the mobile space? I'm counting on being able to store my supplies in the mobile space.

I couldn't sleep at all, feeling anxious. I frantically devoured post-apocalyptic novels. Food, water, electricity, fire, and safety were all crucial. Without electricity, my skills would be useless. Once my phone and computer were turned off, I would just be waiting to die. But the most important thing was an absolutely safe place. I had to guard against not only zombies but also people. Sometimes people are more terrifying than zombies. Zombies are crazy but mindless, while people are different. They are crazy but also have brains and strength.

Just as I was at my wit's end, Xiaobing suddenly spoke up: "Master, Master, your apocalyptic partner has been successfully matched. Go and say hello!" Hearing this, I immediately sat up in bed and opened Doomsday Island. A new friend icon appeared on the Doomsday Island interface. Clicking on it led to a male system avatar. I opened the chat box, not knowing what to say. This was more nerve-wracking than a blind date! It's the apocalypse, and I'm still socially anxious—I'm so pathetic. I saw the "typing..." indicator in the upper left corner of the chat box, so I calmed down and waited for him to speak first. But after almost ten minutes, I still hadn't heard a word. Okay, he's socially anxious too. We're probably going to die together.

I gritted my teeth and said, "Hello."

The next second my partner replied with "hello," and then nothing more. I noticed a voice call function in the bottom right corner of the chat window. Instead of this awkward silence, I figured I might as well call and get down to business. I clicked "call," and it took quite a while before they answered.

I composed myself and said very kindly, "Hello, hello."

My partner replied with a cold yet polite "Hello."

I said, "My name is Su Yi, what's yours?"

The indifferent partner continued indifferently, "Ji Lin'an."

Ji Lin'an! Ji Lin'an! My head is buzzing, how come I have the same name as my idol!

I cautiously asked, "Did you graduate from S High School in S City?"

The other person asked with a hint of doubt, "Yes, how did you know?"

Of course I knew. How could I not know the man I'd had a crush on for eight years? I calmed myself down.

I replied, feigning calmness and indifference, "Yes, I also graduated from S High School, Class 3. I vaguely remember you."

Can I say that I remember you forever? No, this is the last bit of dignity I have left after my failed confession years ago.

After a three-second silence, Ji Lin'an said, "Oh, I think I remember now, you gave me a love letter."

I really want to find a zombie to bite me. I don't care if I die. It's too embarrassing and too weird.

I casually replied, "Really? I don't remember. I've rejected too many love letters."

After a few seconds of silence, the person on the other end spoke again: "Are you in S City?"

I hummed in agreement, and Ji Lin'an said with a hint of urgency, "Where are you? I'll come find you."

My instinct was to refuse, but then I suddenly remembered that we were partners in the apocalypse. I couldn't be sentimental at this time, or I'd lose him. I gave Ji Lin'an my address, exchanged contact information, and hung up the phone. Although I couldn't be sentimental, I still had to make him see my face and regret rejecting me in the first place.

I rummaged through my closets but couldn't find any suitable clothes. I checked the time and it was almost 9:50. The mall was open, so I used the Anywhere Door to teleport to a mall and quickly bought a sexy yet cute light pink tight-fitting dress. It was worth losing weight for several months. With my curves, I was sure to seduce Ji Lin'an. I went home, washed my hair, took a shower, put on makeup, curled my hair, and changed clothes. It was his good fortune that I was treated with the highest level of courtesy.

An hour later, Ji Lin'an arrived downstairs. I put on my high heels, which I hadn't worn in ages, and went down. Ji Lin'an was already over 1.8 meters tall in high school; he must be at least 1.85 meters tall now.

A sapphire blue Porsche Cayenne pulled up at the entrance of the residential area. The person who got out of the car was Ji Lin'an. I would recognize his face even if it were ashes. He seemed to recognize me too. He waved in my direction and laughed. "Little rascal, you're smitten with me now, aren't you? You regret rejecting me back then, aren't you? Heaven has given him a chance to pursue me again. I hope he cherishes it."

I walked to the car and Ji Lin'an opened the car door for me. After he got in, I couldn't wait to ask him, "What were you laughing about just now? You were laughing so happily."

Ji Lin'an turned and looked me up and down, then said seriously with a smile, "Has anyone ever said you look like...?"

Ji Lin'an hesitated, as if he wanted to say something but then stopped. I smiled even more broadly. Was he about to start flirting with me? I raised my chin, pretending to look ahead casually. Ji Lin'an then drew out his words in a mysterious tone.

"picture……"

I turned to him with a little anxiety and said, "What does it look like? Tell me quickly."
