Chapter 23 He's Back

Although it was only early spring, I was still sweating profusely while wearing a bulletproof vest and protective suit. I took two buckets of water and quickly took a shower. Dragging my tired body, I lay down on the sofa in the living room. I let Ji Lin'an take a shower while I took out my phone to think about the new skills I had acquired.

Medical Skills: This skill can treat common external injuries. Although it cannot heal immediately, it can stop bleeding, relieve pain and reduce inflammation immediately with special medicine. The medicine can accelerate the recovery speed. It can be used 3 times a day, and additional uses can be redeemed in the points mall.

Medical Space: Can perform surgical procedures, which are completed by robots with a 100% success rate. Surgery cannot be performed on the deceased. It can be used once a day. You can upgrade the space in the points mall to increase the daily usage limit.

Protective Shield Skill: Grants a temporary, indestructible shield. The initial usage time is 5 minutes, and the usage time is determined by the user's level. There is a 2-hour cooldown. The shield size can be customized. If the shield size exceeds the system's limit, usage time will be deducted to offset the difference. The user can use the shield 5 times per day, and additional uses can be redeemed in the points shop.

Hideaway Space: You can briefly enter the space. No items other than your own personal belongings, except for your mobile phone or computer, are allowed in the space. The initial hideaway time is half an hour, with a cooldown time of two hours. You can use it 3 times a day. You can upgrade the space in the points mall to extend the hideaway time.

After finishing studying the skills, Clairvoyant came out of the bathroom, drying his hair with a towel: "What are you staring at your phone for?"

I looked up at Thousand-Mile Eyes and said, "Oh, researching new skills? You know what, I really think I'm a top-notch support. Healing, shields, teleportation, we're sure to win the next battle."

I was smugly holding my phone, when Thousand-Mile Eyes sat down opposite me, unimpressed: "Don't be too happy yet. Every time you're that happy, something unexpected happens."

I immediately frowned, grabbed the cushion next to me, and threw it at Thousand-Mile Eyes. Thousand-Mile Eyes dodged it by tilting his body: "I'm not targeting you, but this is a strange law that applies to everyone. They always perfectly miss our safe spots."

I didn't say anything, put down my phone and closed my eyes to rest. Ji Lin'an came out of the room at this time. I opened my eyes and looked at him. Ji Lin'an hadn't dried his freshly washed hair. Water droplets dripped onto his white shirt, revealing his bronze skin. He looked at me with a slight smile and walked to sit down next to my legs: "Do you want to wipe your drool?"

I immediately sat up, subconsciously touching my mouth with my hand. Qianliyan looked at me with disdain: "Haven't you guys had enough tonight?"

I rolled my eyes at Clairvoyant and turned to Ji Lin'an: "Have you researched your skills?"

Ji Lin'an nodded: "Yes, I did a little research. Material conversion is the process of using items of equal or similar value to exchange for the items you want."

I asked doubtfully, "For example, can I turn a box of instant noodles into a box of instant porridge?"

Ji Linan frowned: "That's roughly the idea. I haven't tried it yet, so I'm not sure how the value is determined."

Thousand-Mile Eye excitedly said, "Then let's give it a try. It would be too wasteful to use instant noodles or something like that. Let's use something of value instead."

The all-seeing eye scanned the room: "How about we try trading our old computer for... trading... trading for a smoke grenade?"

Upon hearing that this was feasible, Ji Lin'an and I immediately entered the space, retrieved our three old computers, and handed them to Ji Lin'an. Ji Lin'an took the computers and, following the instructions, placed the three computers together, took a picture, uploaded it to the system, and entered the name of the item to be exchanged. The next second, the system prompted us to put the item into the space. We followed Ji Lin'an and entered the space with the computers. Three seconds later, a cardboard box appeared in the space. Inside the box were two smoke grenades. We happily took the smoke grenades and exited the space.

Thousand-Mile Eye excitedly took a smoke grenade and examined it from all angles: "I've finally seen and touched a real smoke grenade! And it's surprisingly heavy."

I chuckled and said, "I just don't understand how this exchange value is calculated. The three of our computers together must have cost 30,000 yuan, and we only got two smoke bombs in return."

Thousand-Mile Eyes made a "NO" gesture with his finger: "I've seen military programs. This is a standard military smoke grenade. Although I don't know the price, it's not for sale. Ordinary people can't buy it."

I smiled helplessly: "Guns are not for sale either. Look at us lucky ones, we each have one."

Clairvoyant pouted, unconvinced: "That's different."

I shrugged: "Yeah, these things are pretty rare, and they're not easy to value in the apocalypse."

Ji Lin'an suddenly smiled: "I wonder if I can conjure up a Peking duck. I haven't had one in a long time, and I'm craving it."

Thousand-Mile Eyes' eyes lit up: "Great idea! We don't lack anything else anyway, so let's just get everything sorted out."

I nodded vigorously, my eyes shining as I looked at Ji Lin'an. Before the apocalypse started, he said I was greedy. Now that the apocalypse has lasted so long, even vegetarians must be craving meat.

Ji Lin'an sat up straight: "We can have a big meal, but we have to make sure we're 100% safe first. We're in danger at any time if Zhu Chen isn't eliminated."

My smile faded slightly: "It will be difficult for us to find him now, unless we lure him into attacking us first, in which case we might have a chance to get close to him."

Clairvoyant: "I don't think he'll show up again for the time being. He knows there are surveillance cameras around here, and I have the ability to see and hear things from afar, so it won't be difficult to find him. He's definitely hiding far away."

I nodded: "Yes, he will only show up if any of us are separated and spotted by him, and he is confident that he can win."

Ji Lin'an thought for a while: "He won't come to nearby places, and we can only rely on you to go to far places, which is inconvenient. We can change our approach. His skill is to copy space, and what he wants most right now is probably a lucky lone person."
