Chapter 24 Terrifying People

Zombie outbreak...

Clairvoyant has temporarily moved into our room. In the dim light of the night lamp, I saw that Clairvoyant had his back to us. I poked Ji Lin'an with my finger and whispered, "I can't sleep."

Ji Lin'an moved closer to me and patted my back: "Go to sleep, I'll coax you."

I felt a sudden tingling sensation and twisted my body slightly: "It itches, I'm not a child anymore, this trick won't work on me."

Ji Lin'an leaned close to my ear and said suggestively, "So what would be more effective?"

I didn't say anything, but gently nudged Ji Lin'an. Qianliyan shifted his body and coughed twice forcefully: "Cough cough, I'm not asleep yet, you two be careful."

I immediately sat up and spoke in a normal volume: "You should have said you weren't asleep earlier. I can't sleep, it's so boring lying here."

My eyes lit up: "How about we play Dou Dizhu?"

Thousand-Mile Eyes sat up abruptly: "Great! It's been so long since I've played. The loser gets their face drawn on."

I nodded happily and looked down at Ji Lin'an, who was lying down. Ji Lin'an sat up with a slight smile: "It seems that we don't have playing cards in our supplies."

I made a very eager face: "Just conjure one out of your treasure chest!"

Ji Lin'an couldn't resist my coaxing, and with a helpless smile, shook his head and pulled out a deck of cards from his treasure chest. I searched my spatial dimension for a long time before finally finding my long-unused eyeliner gel pen, and happily left the dimension. Actually, the three of us are all quite young, at the prime of our lives, and the apocalypse has forced us to give up many hobbies. Although we don't know what dangers we'll face next, for now, living in the moment and enjoying life is enough.

Qianliyan tossed the blanket and pillow aside, and the three of us sat on his makeshift bed in a triangle. I couldn't shuffle the cards, and Ji Lin'an couldn't shuffle them well either, so Qianliyan had to keep shuffling. Ji Lin'an wasn't good at shuffling, but he played the cards very well. If he got the landlord role, he would win, and whoever was on his side would also win. Before long, there was no room left on my face to draw on Ji Lin'an's face. There was only a mole I drew and a straight eyebrow drawn by Qianliyan. I have to say, even the most handsome person can't resist a mole. He instantly went from a cool and aloof god to a complete idiot.

Perhaps we were having too much fun and didn't notice that Zhu Chen had already arrived on the second floor and had been standing at our door for who knows how long. It wasn't until I finished having my face painted for the nth time and picked up my phone to take a selfie that I noticed the system notification that a lucky person was approaching us. We weren't linked to Zhu Chen, and we had turned off the notification volume since Zhu Chen came to us, otherwise it would have been constantly reminding us.

I kept smiling, wondering if Zhu Chen was eavesdropping outside the door. If we suddenly stopped, it would definitely make Zhu Chen wary. I picked up my phone and pretended to take a selfie with Ji Lin'an, but the phone screen showed a system notification. Ji Lin'an cooperated by pressing his face closer, and his expression immediately turned serious when he saw my phone screen. I nudged him with my elbow and shook my head at him. He nodded in understanding and turned on the phone's monitoring function. I was worried that the "Thousand-Mile Eye" would expose our actions, so I opened the phone's camera and sat down next to him: "Thousand-Mile Eye, let's take a picture too. We haven't taken a picture together yet."

After taking a few photos, I glanced at Ji Lin'an out of the corner of my eye. He had posted some screenshots in our Future Island group chat. He quietly took out the guns from our spatial storage. I put my phone away and pretended to say, "I'm not taking any more pictures, my hand is tired. Let me edit the pictures."

After saying that, I grabbed Qianliyan's shoulder and immediately made a shushing face at him, pointing to his phone. Qianliyan and I opened the pictures sent by Ji Lin'an. At this moment, Zhu Chen was standing straight at our room door. Opening the other two pictures, the upper right corner of the pictures showed the time captured by the surveillance camera. Comparing the three pictures, Zhu Chen stood straight at the door for ten minutes without moving. I broke out in a cold sweat and looked at the door warily. Qianliyan also turned his head to look at the door with a look of horror, and his body unconsciously moved closer to us. I was worried that the sudden silence of the three of us would arouse Zhu Chen's suspicion, so I deliberately raised my voice and said, "Hey, Qianliyan, I find that you are just average-looking in person, but you are very handsome in the photos."

Qianliyan frowned and looked at me with a frightened expression. I kicked him and gestured for him to speak, but perhaps he was scared, so he remained silent. Not to mention him, I was also scared when I saw the screenshot. The corridor was dark, the surveillance footage was black and white, and Zhu Chen stood motionless at the door like a ghost.

Ji Lin'an's eyes showed some anxiety: "What's wrong? Are you angry because I said you're just average-looking?"

I said with a fake smile, "I was just kidding, don't be upset. You're still quite handsome, just not as handsome as my husband, Lao Ji. But Lao Ji isn't as photogenic as you. Look, don't you look more handsome than him in the photo?"

Seeing that we had tried so hard to smooth things over, Qianliyan managed to force a smile and adjust his tone, saying, "Haha, I was just kidding you. You were fooled, weren't you? How could I be angry? Our Lao Ji is very handsome, but I'm not bad either. I was the school heartthrob back in the day."

Seeing that the situation had been salvaged, Ji Lin'an zoomed in on the phone's surveillance footage to its maximum and placed the phone between the three of us. Zhu Chen still hadn't left. I was extremely nervous and wanted nothing more than to rush out and confront Zhu Chen about what was wrong with him.

Seeing my upset expression, Ji Lin'an reached out and grabbed my hand: "Playing cards is no fun, you two are too bad at it. Why don't we invite Zhu Chen to play mahjong? Su Su, does Zhu Chen know how to play mahjong?"

I thought for a moment and realized, "Yes, he used to always go out to play business mahjong."

Ji Lin'an smiled crookedly: "Then let's go and call him over to play mahjong."

I wasn't really thinking about it, my expression remained serious, but I had to pretend to be nonchalant in my tone: "Okay, let's go now."
