Chapter 27 Kaka

Kaka nodded: "Yes, the ones that look a bit ugly were made by me, and the ones that look good were made by my partner, my sister."

Upon closer inspection, I realized that Kaka's work was indeed a bit rough, perhaps because he was young and didn't have enough strength. On the other hand, the pointed wooden stick made by Kaka's partner was very smooth, just like an art student's pencil.

Kaka placed her packed belongings in front of us, then turned around and checked everything around the rest stop before returning to us: "Sister, I'm all packed."

I nodded, and Qianliyan eagerly stepped forward to pick up Kaka's luggage. Ji Lin'an stepped forward to help, and we took Kaka back to the villa. Qianliyan carried the luggage to the second floor: "Kaka can stay in my room."

Ji Lin'an and I both turned to look at Qianliyan in surprise. Kaka also turned to look at us with a pleading look, looking at us with a sense of panic. Qianliyan saw our misunderstanding and quickly explained, "What I meant was that Kaka is staying in my room, and I'm moving to Zhu Chen's room in the basement."

Hearing this, we all breathed a sigh of relief. We helped Qianliyan move his things to the basement and changed Kaka's sheets and blankets. I said to Kaka, "Kaka, you'll stay in this room. Brother Ji and I live next door. If you have any problems, you can come to us anytime, or you can come to Qianliyan. He lives on the basement floor."

Kaka nodded: "Okay, thank you for your hard work, sisters. I have some food in my luggage. I don't have anything else to thank you with, so please use this food."

Kaka opened her luggage and took out a few pickled chicken feet, salt-baked chicken, and a few boxes of instant noodles. I quickly waved my hand and said, "It's okay, we have plenty of food. You can keep these for yourself. We don't have many snacks. You can keep these to satisfy your cravings when you're feeling peckish."

Actually, when I saw Kaka packing her luggage, I saw those few packs of pickled chicken feet and salt-baked chicken. I kept drooling with envy. I especially regretted not thinking of stocking up on some snacks when I was hoarding supplies. But seeing that Kaka's snacks were clean and even had a pink cloth bag, it seemed like she wasn't very willing to eat them herself. I felt embarrassed to compete with the little girl for food.

Kaka lowered his head and hesitated, "But I don't have anything else to thank you with."

I quickly waved my hand and said, "No need to thank us, we didn't do anything."

Kaka looked up at me sincerely: "Actually, I don't have much food left. Ever since my partner left, no one has taken me out to find supplies. I'm too scared to go out on my own. I was wondering what I would do after I finished eating this food when I met you all. If I hadn't met you, I probably wouldn't have survived much longer."

I looked at the little girl in front of me with pity. She seemed to be a child who was loved by her parents at home. Now that she was going to college, she had to learn to kill zombies to survive. I was about to go forward to comfort her when Qianliyan stepped forward first and patted Kaka on the shoulder: "It's okay, Kaka. I will protect you from now on. I will make sure you have enough to eat and drink. You don't have to worry."

I turned to look at Ji Lin'an helplessly. Ji Lin'an smiled at me and whispered, "He's been eating our dog food for so long, let him have a place to vent."

I moved closer to Ji Lin'an: "But Kaka is still young!"

“Sister, I’m already 18,” Kaka suddenly said.

I was so embarrassed I didn't know what to say. I was speaking very softly. I quietly tugged at Ji Lin'an's sleeve, and Ji Lin'an said, "Kaka, doesn't your profile say you're 17?"

Kaka nodded: "I was 17 when the zombie outbreak started. Maybe the data didn't update automatically after the outbreak, but I'm 18 now."

Thousand-Mile Eyes turned to look at us with a smug expression. I rolled my eyes at him and said to Kaka, "Kaka, even though it's the apocalypse, you're too young. Girls need to learn to protect themselves and not start dating too early." I didn't even need to look at Thousand-Mile Eyes to know that he was glaring at me with a fierce look.

Seeing that it was lunchtime, I deliberately took out some food to welcome our new member. I used Ji Lin'an's transformation skill to exchange for some barbecue crayfish. Little girls should like it. Well, I'm not a little girl anymore, but I like it too.

Kaka's eyes welled up with tears when she saw the table full of fresh food: "Oh my god, how did you do that, sisters? I haven't had barbecue and crayfish in so long."

I laughed and said, "Let's get started!"

Kaka nodded vigorously, put on gloves, and started peeling crayfish, eating with great joy. Halfway through, his rolled-up sleeve fell down, and Qianliyan quickly helped Kaka roll it up. Ji Lin'an and I exchanged a smile; with Kaka around, Qianliyan's habit of being a chatterbox had been cured.

After eating and drinking to their hearts' content, Qianliyan (a nickname) took the initiative to clean up the "battlefield." In no time, the table was spotless. I couldn't help but say, "Qianliyan, if I had known you were so diligent, Kaka should have shown up sooner."

Thousand-Mile Eyes rolled his eyes at me without saying a word, and carried the trash downstairs. Just then, Kaka's system suddenly issued a warning: "Master, Master, your partner has been detected to be dead. I will match you with a new partner... Matching failed. There are no lucky partners available for matching at the moment. Your skills will expire in twenty minutes."

Kaka stood up instantly, tears welling up in her eyes: "Sister Ning, how could Sister Ning die? Waaah..."

Kaka was crying so hard that I didn't know how to comfort her. I could only gently pull her into my arms, and she leaned against me. Just then, Qianliyan came upstairs and saw this scene. He looked bewildered and ran to Ji Lin'an's side, whispering, "What happened? Why is she crying when I'm just taking out the trash? Did you bully her?"

I looked up and glared at Qianliyan. Ji Lin'an looked down and told Qianliyan what had happened. Qianliyan immediately looked at Kaka with a sympathetic expression: "Kaka is so pitiful."
