On the twelfth day before the zombie outbreak, we arrived at the food wholesale market. I suggested we split up; he would buy instant food and drinks, and I would buy the food that needed processing. After we parted, I went to the rice and oil shop and bought 200 kilograms of rice and 200 liters of cooking oil. The shopkeeper's eyes lit up when he heard this, and he immediately greeted me with a smile. The shopkeeper's wife came out with a calculator and said, "We don't have enough stock on hand. We'll need to deliver it to you in three days. The total is 26,300. I'll give you a round number, 26,000. You need to pay a 6,000 deposit first. I'll give you 6,000 worth of goods today, is that okay?"
I immediately opened WeChat and scanned the QR code to pay the shop owner. She added me on WeChat and asked me to send her the address. I thought about it and realized I didn't know Ji Lin'an's address. Giving her Ji Lin'an's address and letting more people know that there were many supplies there didn't feel safe. So I went outside the shop and called Ji Lin'an: "Hey, did you buy anything?"
Ji Lin'an said slowly, "I'm looking at canned goods, but I haven't bought any yet."
I looked into the store and said, "I bought rice and oil, but we don't have enough stock, so it will take three days to receive the goods. I need a delivery address, but I don't think it's safe to give you my home address directly. Do you know of any other places where I can receive the goods first, and then I'll put them in my mobile storage after I receive them?"
Ji Lin'an thought for a few seconds: "My company has a warehouse, but it's quite far from my home. I'll give you the address; it's fine for temporary receiving of goods."
After receiving the address, I sent it to the shop owner and continued browsing. I came to a condiment shop. The shop had plenty of salt, chicken essence, light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, cooking wine, and Lao Gan Ma chili sauce. I practically emptied the shop. After paying, the owner happily closed half of the shop door and started packing. While packing, he called a friend to come and help with the delivery.
Arriving at a frozen food store, I stared at the beef rolls, shrimp, and seafood in the freezer, lost in thought. Should I take them or not? Others in the apocalypse eat canned food, while we eat big fish and meat. Won't that attract hatred? I've already learned my lesson once; I even lost my life eating a self-heating hot pot.
A voice suddenly came from behind, it was Ji Lin'an: "What are you standing there for? Come on, let's go take a look over there."
Ji Lin'an pulled me along, and when we reached a secluded spot, we stopped and said, "Those are all refrigerators that need to be placed in them. Solar panels can't power refrigerators, so let's go look at some others."
I pouted: "Okay, I bought rice, oil, and seasonings. What did you buy?"
"I bought canned food, instant noodles, and bottled water."
My eyes lit up: "What flavor of instant noodles did you buy? I like pickled pepper beef and spicy beef."
Ji Lin'an patted my shoulder lightly: "It's the apocalypse, and you're still picky about the taste? You should be grateful that you have anything to eat."
After saying that, Ji Lin'an pinched my nose. Ugh, I got teased again.
I had a sudden inspiration: "I also want to eat self-heating hot pot and snail rice noodles."
Ji Lin'an smiled faintly: "Aren't you afraid that the snail rice noodles will attract zombies? They'll smell like our own kind."
I pouted: "Nonsense, it smells so good. I don't care, I want to eat it. I'll cook it in the basement."
Although Ji Lin'an said no, she had already gone to the grocery store before me and bought a hundred packs of snail rice noodles and two hundred boxes of self-heating hot pot.
I said to the shopkeeper, "Ten more cases of Coke, please."
After I finished speaking, I imitated Ji Lin'an's signature smile and smiled at Ji Lin'ai. He was stunned for two seconds before transferring the money to the boss.
After we finished shopping, Ji Lin'an walked beside me and said, "Let's go home."
"Let's go home"—such an ambiguous phrase! The thought of living with my crush makes me blush.
When we arrived at Ji Lin's house, he turned on the TV for me to watch while he went upstairs to tidy up my room. I was thinking about what would happen if there was no internet in the apocalypse, and whether the Anywhere Door and the teleportation space would also need a network. I called out to Xiao Bing: "Xiao Bing, Xiao Bing, do you need a network to operate? Can you still use them without a network?"
Minor Illness: "Master, master, we don't need the internet. We can run even without it."
Then I'm relieved. But if there's no internet in the apocalypse, and we can't go online or play games, what can we do? It's just me and Ji Lin'an, a lone man and woman... cough cough, I can't think of anything weird.
Hearing Ji Lin'an come downstairs, I immediately straightened up, wiped my mouth, and said, "I really wasn't thinking about anything just now."
"The room is ready, let me take you upstairs."
After Ji Lin'an finished speaking, he picked up a few of my bags. I picked up the remaining two small bags and followed Ji Lin'an. The room was on the second floor.
"This is your room. My room is across the street. You can call me anytime if you need anything. There is a bathroom in your room."
Ji Lin'an pointed here and there, put my luggage in my room, and told me to take a shower and rest for a while, and we could discuss dealing with the apocalypse later. After I showered and changed into my pajamas, I went to the living room. Ji Lin'an was already downstairs, looking like he had just showered as well, his hair still wet. He was busy in the kitchen, and I couldn't tell what he was doing. I tiptoed up behind him, intending to scare him, but he suddenly turned around and made a face at me, which startled me and made me take a few steps back: "What are you doing? You scared me to death!"
I raised my hand and slapped his arm. Ji Lin'an immediately turned to the side, clutching his shoulder and groaning, "With your strength, you could kill ten zombies a day without breaking a sweat."
Is it really that exaggerated? Am I being too unladylike? No, I need to be reserved. I pretend nothing happened and peek at the things on the stove behind Ji Lin'an. "What are you doing?"
Ji Lin didn't listen: "I'm researching the heating principle of self-heating hot pot. If it can replace electricity and open flame to cook food, that would be great. It could be one of my survival backup plans."
