Chapter 75 Rest

Ji Lin'an placed the extra cardboard boxes outside the shelter, which filled the hole between the door and the ground. He also sandwiched several layers of our empty mineral water bottles among the boxes. If someone fell into the hole or went down into the hole, they would crush the mineral water bottles, and the sound of the plastic bottles would alert us.

As noon approached, the temperature in the shelter rose, with my phone showing 30°C. With so many of us crammed into the small space, we were all drenched in sweat. Ji Lin'an had no choice but to conjure two fans from his treasure chest. I took out a power bank from my storage space, and with the fans blowing on us, we felt much more comfortable. We lay down on the cardboard and fell asleep peacefully.

Because it was so hot, my clothes got wet after just one night's sleep. I hadn't showered for several days, so I felt all wet and sticky. I looked outside and saw that everyone was sound asleep, so I went into my room and luxuriously used mineral water and a towel to wipe myself down and change my clothes.

As I left the space, I looked out again and saw that Ji Lin'an had woken up at some point and was sitting behind the cardboard box that separated me and Song Yi, like a doorman.

I chuckled and patted Ji Lin'an on the shoulder, whispering, "When did you wake up?"

Ji Lin'an replied quietly: "Just now."

Ji Lin'an pulled me to sit in the corner next to the "bathroom," perhaps so that talking from a distance wouldn't disturb other people's sleep.

Ji Lin'an took out his phone, turned on his telescope, and looked around. He then took out his self-made map and started noting down the features of the area as he looked around. I tilted my head and looked at Ji Lin'an's map.

Our current location is roughly in the northeast direction. The route from the cave to the supply center can be divided into the following sections: cave, stone road, bushes, river, zombie forest, safe house, woods, safe house again, and supply center.

Looking to the left and right of our current location within 6 kilometers, it's basically the same as what Ji Lin'an marked. For now, we can confirm that the entire survival island is a huge disc. What we see are rivers, forests, and safe houses, all circling outwards from the supply center.

Ji Lin'an marked several circles and crosses on the map, and I asked curiously, "What do these mean?"

Ji Lin'an looked at what I was pointing to and said, "A circle represents a relatively safe place, while an X represents danger, such as a zombie forest."

I looked at the circled areas: "Are the circled areas safe? I see that the main road leading directly to the supply center is right next to these areas, how can they be safe?"

Ji Lin'an glanced at it, then used his telescope to point out the place I mentioned and handed the phone to me: "Look, although this area is close to the main road, there are bushes on both sides, and a hillside behind it. The hillside is covered with thorny bushes, so most people can't get up there. The side closer to the main road is covered with dense tall trees, and there's a patch of more than ten square meters inside that's full of hidden fruits. It can be a safe place for us to rest."

I nodded with an "I see" expression and continued, "The places around here where we can stay are all exposed. I have a feeling that the people who put us in this survival game wouldn't have set up the scene so simply. Why don't we go to the south tomorrow and take a look? Maybe the scene will have changed and we can find a more suitable place to stay?"

Ji Lin'an stared at the wound on my face and nodded, saying, "Yes, that's fine. We'll discuss it when everyone wakes up."

Ji Lin'an suddenly looked behind me and frowned. I immediately turned around and saw only an earthen wall and a hidden fruit behind me. Ji Lin'an reached out and pulled the hidden fruit away from my head, then tapped it against the earthen wall. Some soil fell to the ground, and a string of numbers appeared on the wall: 45:128.

Ji Lin'an continued to fiddle with the earthen wall surrounding the numbers, but there was no other information. I stared at the numbers, puzzled: "What does this mean?"

Ji Lin'an frowned and shook his head: "It looks like a password, but passwords usually don't have a colon in the middle, and I don't see anything that requires a password."

I pondered, "I feel like I've seen this kind of number somewhere before."

Ji Lin'an nodded: "Yeah, it's kind of like coordinates."

My eyes lit up instantly: "Could these numbers be the coordinates of this shelter?"

Ji Lin'an stared at it for two seconds and then revealed a look of delight: "That really is possible."

I said excitedly, "If it's coordinates, then my Anywhere Door will be useful."

Ji Lin'an nodded: "Let's go out and observe again tomorrow, and see if we can find the coordinates of other shelters. We'll know once we try."

I nodded happily; if that were true, we could escape even faster if we encountered danger. Out of the corner of my eye, I suddenly saw Zhu Dachang sit up and look at us. He looked like he had just woken up; his eyes were bloodshot. When he saw me, he smiled and asked, "What are you talking about? You seem so happy?"

Ji Lin'an reached out and gently pinched my back. I said to Zhu Dachang, "You're going to listen to things that aren't suitable for children?"

Zhu Dachang's eyes widened upon hearing this, and he immediately shook his head: "I don't want to hear it, you guys continue, I'm going to sleep a little longer."

It seemed he hadn't heard what we were saying. Seeing Zhu Dachang lie down again, Ji Lin'an leaned close to my ear and said, "We need to find a completely safe place to be the default location. This place can't be known to anyone else for the time being."

I nodded, then turned to see Ji Lin'an fiddling with something on his phone again. I leaned over to see Ji Lin'an bring the phone closer to me: "I'm planning to make a timer myself. I've been observing it with a stopwatch these past few days. It's about 11 hours from sunset to sunrise. I'll consider sunrise as 6 a.m. and sunset as 7 p.m. I just need to start timing 5 hours from sunset, and then turn the timer back on to 24 hours when the timer is finished. That way, we'll know the time of day."

I couldn't help but clap my hands quietly and whisper, "We're all busy trying to save our lives, and you still have time to observe these things."

Ji Lin'an laughed and said, "There's no way around it. If you don't know the time, you'll easily drift through life in a daze, not knowing when to eat or when to sleep."

I nodded: "Yes, when I don't have time, I always feel empty inside, and the days seem to be extremely long. A day feels like an eternity, and I don't know when I'll finally get through it."

Ji Lin'an patted my head: "Now that we have time, let's take it as a sign of hope. We will definitely be able to hold on until the end of the game."

I nodded and leaned on Ji Lin'an's shoulder...
