Chapter 86 Luring the Tiger Away from the Mountain

After resting for a while, I took out my phone to check Ji Lin'an and Qianliyan's friend information. They were still alive, and I instantly breathed a sigh of relief. Seeing that everyone was still a little shaken, I said, "Let's wait here for Lao Ji and the others for now. I believe they will find us."

Seeing everyone standing to one side, and the earthen walls of the underground shelter all covered in wet yellow mud, I wandered around the space and took out a few large empty suitcases, placing them on the ground: "Sit on the suitcases."

Song Yi looked at the suitcase and said, "Sis, this is too extravagant of you. If you just put it in the mud, it will get all dirty."

I laughed and said, "Just rinse it with water. It's the apocalypse, what use is my suitcase? Just sit down."

An Xin tilted his head: "Huh?"

I smiled helplessly and said, "I didn't call you."

Everyone sat down to rest. I kept a close eye on Ji Lin'an and Qianliyan's friend messages, constantly checking their status. Time passed by, and I turned on my phone's timer. After two hours, there was still no sign of Ji Lin'an and the others. I started to get anxious: "Anxin, use your skill to check the surrounding area. I'm a little worried about Lao Ji and the others."

An Xin nodded, opened the skill and looked for a while: "I didn't see Lao Ji and the others, but I saw your friend from earlier."

I asked, "Who?"

An Xin handed me his phone, and I saw Chen Hu not far from the river. Chen Hu was sitting alone and forlorn under a tree. I looked around but didn't see Zhu Chen or Jiang Kexin.

I found Chen Hu's phone number and dialed it. Chen Hu saw me calling him on the screen, but he just stared blankly at the screen. I hung up and dialed again. Chen Hu hesitated for a moment. I hung up and dialed again. Chen Hu sighed and answered without saying anything. I asked, "Chen Hu, where are you?"

Chen Hu hesitated and didn't answer, so I continued, "I see you. Where are Jiang Kexin and the others?"

Chen Hu looked up and around. I said, "Don't look anymore, I saw you in the skills list."

Chen Hu wiped his face with one hand: "I've separated from them."

I asked curiously, "If you could save your life by being with them, why did you choose to travel alone?"

From the moment I met him and Jiang Kexin, I observed Chen Hu's expressions. His surprise when he realized he had hit me, his anger when he saw Zhu Chen, and his panic when Jiang Kexin threatened me all seemed genuine. I guessed that Jiang Kexin had been hiding this from Chen Hu from the very beginning when they met. It wasn't until a series of events occurred that Chen Hu saw through Jiang Kexin's true nature. Jiang Kexin's heart had always belonged to Zhu Chen, so Chen Hu was no longer willing to protect her and chose to leave.

Chen Hu sighed: "Nothing is colder than the human heart."

I tentatively asked, "Would you like to come with us?"

Chen Hu hesitated: "Aren't you afraid I'll betray you?"

I laughed and said, "So what if you betrayed her? If you want to go back to being Jiang Kexin's lapdog, no one can stop you, right?"

Chen Hu was speechless, so I quickly said, "Oh, I didn't mean you're a simp. What I meant was that Jiang Kexin has Zhu Chen by her side now, so if you go back, your situation will be awkward. If Jiang Kexin can realize how good you are and stay by your side obediently, then your efforts will be worthwhile."

Chen Hu said self-deprecatingly, "I also think of myself as a simp. I've never been so serious about a woman before. She... well, never mind, let's not talk about it. Anyway, I've already left, whether she lives or dies has nothing to do with me anymore."

Just as I was about to answer, An Xin brought the phone closer and said excitedly, "I saw Lao Ji and the other guy, not far from the zombie horde... but the people who were chasing us are nearby, they might run into them. It looks like Lao Ji hasn't spotted them yet, what should we do?!"

I thought for a moment and said, "Chen Hu, if you're truly interested in joining us, do me a favor."

Chen Hu calmly said, "Go ahead."

I looked at the image on the telescope and said, "Old Ji was near where Zhu Chen and his group were ambushing us. Zhu Chen was there too, so they're very likely to run into each other. You have a clone, so help us distract Zhu Chen. Then you can go back to where we are now. I'll come find you after I save Old Ji, okay?"

Chen Hu paused for a few seconds before saying, "Okay, I'll help you."

Seeing that Chen Hu readily agreed, I took An Xin's phone to confirm Ji Lin'an's location. I turned to everyone and said, "An Xin and Song Yi, you two come with me to rescue Lao Ji. Wu Feng and Wei Bin, you two stay here to protect everyone. An Xin, give the gun to Wu Feng."

An Xin nodded and handed the gun to Wu Feng. I continued, "We will restore the entrance to its original state after we go out. You must not come out to avoid danger."

Everyone nodded. I quickly took out the supplies I had received from the supply center from my spatial storage, filled a backpack for each of the four of them (Wu Feng and Song Yi), and then headed to our destination with An Xin and Song Yi.

We were closer to our destination than Chen Hu was. We hid in a place Chen Hu was sure to pass by beforehand. When Chen Hu passed by us, we carefully followed him. When we saw the Hidden Fruit in the distance, we quickly sprayed pollen on ourselves.

As we approached the zombie entrance, we saw Zhu Chen and his group crouching there. Through my clairvoyance, I saw that Ji Lin'an and his group were not far behind Zhu Chen and his group, about 500 meters away. I turned to Song Yi and said, "After Chen Hu lures Zhu Chen and his group away, we will go from their direction to find Lao Ji and his group. You stay behind and use your invisibility skill if anything happens."

Song Yi nodded, and then she saw Chen Hu walk up to Zhu Chen and the others. Zhu Chen's companion was the first to notice the commotion and shouted, "Who's there? Come out!"

Chen Hu raised his hands and slowly walked out, saying, "We're all on the same side, don't get agitated."

Jiang Kexin rolled her eyes at Chen Hu with disdain: "Didn't you leave? Why did you come back?"
